FLIPSIDE ALL-STARS

Dear Prospective Flipside All-Stars Athlete and Parent, We would like to thank you for your interest in Flipside Tumbling s All-Star Cheer. We are a family owned and operated facility currently in our third full year as owners. Flipside Tumbling has an 8,500 sq. ft. first class facility with an in-ground trampoline, in-ground foam block pit, two above ground rod floors, resi pits and one cheer floor in a designated cheer room. We are dedicated to offering a professional staff and a well-structured organization. Our goal is to provide the best training environment for our athletes while teaching them ideals such as teamwork, integrity, work ethic, commitment and sportsmanship. We pride ourselves on the way athletes and parents have represented our program and are excited to continue this tradition. The Flipside staff understands that we are using the tool of All-Star cheerleading to shape and develop our athletes into leaders of their peer groups and leaders of tomorrow. We believe all our athletes have exceptional talents and it is our responsibility to cultivate that talent with our compassion, dedication and knowledge. As a program, we take true PRIDE in the growth of our athletes both inside and outside the gym. Although the coaching staff and training involved is clearly a factor in the success of each team, the PASSION, hard work, love and desire to excel is critical for each cheerleader to achieve their goals. We pride ourselves in offering the environment to ensure this happens. This year we are using the successes and failures of the past seasons to make this coming season even better. We believe our coaches are even more inspired and enlightened to lead our teams to amazing things again this season. This packet is designed to give each family the information necessary to decide if they are ready for the significant commitment that is required by All-Star cheerleading and Flipside All-Stars. Please take the time to thoroughly read the information, and if you have any questions, please give us a call. Good luck to everyone, and we look forward to another fantastic and successful year! Thank you, Paulette & Dustin Kline office@flipside-tumbling.com

AN OVERVIEW OF ALL-STAR CHEERLEADING NOTICE TO PARENTS: Please read through this entire information packet and ask any questions you may have PRIOR TO submitting the Try-Out Information form. Flipside All-Stars wants to ensure that each family and athlete fully understands the level of team and financial commitment involved in being a Flipside All-Stars cheerleader. As this sport has grown, the All-Star cheerleading industry has created standard divisions and levels to determine and regulate the manner in which competitive teams are to be divided, as well as the rules in which each team must abide and are governed. Teams are formed according to age, number and gender of athletes, and both stunting and tumbling skill level. All-Star cheerleading is an exciting sport suitable for the earliest beginner all the way through the most accomplished elite level athlete. All-Star cheerleading places an emphasis upon a competition routine of tumbling, dancing, stunting, jumping and motion techniques in a creative, innovative and challenging fashion. Because we feel that all athletes should have the ability to participate and experience the world of All-Star cheerleading, Flipside does its best to allow as many athletes who are interested as possible the opportunity to participate in the sport.

*YOUR ACCOUNT MUST BE IN GOOD STANDING TO BE ELIGIBLE TO TRYOUT* Tryouts will be held on April 21, 2018 at our facility at 1816 Bluff Ridge Dr in Syracuse, UT. Session 1: 12:30 1:30 ages 11 & under Session 2: 1:45 2:15 ages 12 & up Skills required: none up to cartwheel, round-off, and front walkover and back walkover Session 3: 2:30 4:00 ages 11 & under Session 4: 4:15 5:15 ages 12 & up Skills required: standing back handspring Session 5: 5:30 6:00 all ages Skills required: standing back tuck, running layout and up Please schedule your try-out time and complete a try-out information form by contacting Flipside in person or phone. If you are unable to attend tryouts at the above scheduled time please email or call us to schedule a private try-out with any All-Star cheer coach Based on our past experiences, spectators at try-outs place unnecessary pressure on the athletes. Therefore, try-outs will be held in CLOSED sessions, and only athletes trying out will be allowed in the Flipside All-Stars cheer room during try-out times. This will ensure the most comfortable and safe atmosphere for your athlete(s). TRY-OUT ATTIRE: We require each athlete to come performance ready! We are excited to have all athletes show team spirit from the very beginning so we ask that all athletes trying out wear black shorts, a black or purple or aqua/turquoise form fitted workout top and tennis shoes or cheer shoes. Hair should be pulled back in a high ponytail with a bow so we can see those pretty smiles. WHAT TO EXPECT AT TRYOUTS: At tryouts, we will ask to see each athlete s flexibility, jumps, and tumbling. Please come prepared with two standing tumbling passes and two running tumbling passes. For those with no prior tumbling or cheer experience, please just come and enjoy the tryout experience; we will help you out. TRY-OUT RESULTS & WORKOUT SCHEDULE: The results for try-outs and the workout schedule will be emailed by 6pm on Friday April 27, 2018. Each athlete will be assigned a number at try-outs. Please be certain to remember your assigned number as the results will be posted accordingly. Practices will begin Monday May 14; May tuition will be prorated and due at that time. You will have until Friday May 18 to commit to Flipside All-Stars by signing and returning the attached Code of Conduct Acknowledgment form. If you choose not to commit, you will still owe tuition for May 14 through the time we are informed you will not be committing.

Team Placement for 2018-2019 Season Teams will be formed to be able to score as high as possible in both difficulty and execution/technique on every aspect of the score sheet. Every athlete on a team may not have the same individual skills; however, the collective team will be able to meet the highest ranges of difficulty and execution/technique. In addition to the age grid below is a general guideline of tumbling skills for each level. Any skills performed at tryouts must be performed with proper technique to be considered for placement. Do not be discouraged from trying out because of a lack of tumbling ability; everyone has something unique to offer. Remember, attitude, work ethic, stunting and other aspects of the score sheet are just as important as or more important than tumbling skills. Division Athlete s Age Division Athlete s Age Tiny Novice Ages 3-6 Junior Ages 5 14 Mini Age 5-8 Senior Ages 11 18 Youth Age 5-11 Special Needs All Ages TEAMS WILL BE DIVIDED BY SIZE. We have made it very affordable to add a tumbling class and encourage all of our All Star athletes to take advantage of this opportunity. Our goal this season is to create teams that can and will earn bids to D2 Summit which is held in May at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, FL. All teams earning a bid WILL travel to and compete at D2 Summit. This event is held over multiple days and may require competing on Sunday if we make it to finals. Fees for this competition are not included in the estimated fees on the next page.

If even one person is absent then that person s entire stunt pod is unable to practice that day as well as the squad s entire pyramid. Any extra practice that is scheduled at least one week in advance is considered a regularly scheduled practice and must be attended by all team members. THERE ARE NO EXCUSED ABSENCES FROM A COMPETITION: Every team member is expected to attend every competition. Any athlete that misses a competition may be removed from the program. In some instances, teams will be required to compete on a Friday which may require some missed school time. 24-hour cool down: Parents will not contact any coach until at least 24 hours after any coach or competition related incident ; this is to allow all parties to have adequate time to gain proper perspective on the situation in question. Incidents involving misbehavior by another athlete should still be reported immediately. Discounted Tumbling Classes: All Flipside All-Stars will receive a 50% discount towards enrollment in any tumbling class at Flipside (not including ballet, flyers, or stunting). We believe that ALL Flipside All-Stars should take at least 1 tumbling class in addition to their All-Star practices to continue advancing and perfecting their tumbling skills. Our sport continues to become more strenuous and the skills become more advanced every year. Choreography: Choreography will be announced at a later date, but is currently being planned for sometime in August; attendance will be mandatory. Please conclude all summer vacations by the end of July. Maintaining your spot on a team: Our hope is that your season is great and goes according to plan. However, we do know things happen and we want you to know up front SOME of the ways your spot could become in jeopardy on your team: delinquent accounts, loss of skills/abilities, excessive absences, poor attitudes or injuries. If an injured athlete is replaced in a routine, they may or may not be worked back into the routine. This will be up to the staff.
