Event A nnouncement June 28-30, 2019 2019 MID-ATLANTIC PERMACULTURE CONVERGENCE: Cultivating Self-Reliance in 2019 JUNE 28-30, 2019 The Mid-Atlantic Permaculture Convergence is a two-day festival celebrating land-based living and self-reliance. Over 20 local teachers, experts, and gurus will teach crucial skills related to food, energy, water, health, building, and community selfreliance. Come one, come all; only we can build the world we deserve. This festival is here to cultivate inspiration and purpose, and to spread the knowledge and skills we need to understand the systems we rely on. Throughout the weekend, we will learn how to better meet our individual and community needs in ways aligned with nature and its processes. Let s come together to shift a culture of disempowerment! There is a wealth of knowledge and experience all around us, and we can thrive off of the abundance and wisdom that this eco-region already provides. There are over 20 workshops to choose from over the weekend; be sure to check out the entire schedule ahead of time, so you can join those which most interest you! FRI JUN.28 The first day is reserved for an early dinner for teachers leading part of the event, a volunteer orientation, and intention-setting & an opening campfire with event attendees. SAT JUN.29 Saturday is filled with workshops on energy, water, and health self-reliance; a panel on community resilience, meditations, a poetry performance, a live concert, contact improv, a late-night campfire, sauna sessions, and more. SUN JUN.30 Sunday is filled with workshops on food, soil, and plants, as well as heating and building; there will be nature walks, energy attunements, and an open mic-style wrap up session for reflections from the weekend. VIEW FULL SCHEDULE TICKET INFORMATION Tickets for this event can be purchased through Eventbrite, using the button below. Tickets are broken down by day passes or overnight passes, and attendees can choose to add on overnight stays or meals to their ticket purchases at check-out. Please note that each overnight stay and meal is per person, per night or meal. Early bird tickets are av ailable now through April 15th! EARLY BIRD TICKETS Weekend Housing & Scholarship

Passes Full weekend passes begin the evening of Friday, June 28th and last unt il Sunday, June 30th at 5 pm. They include all of the programming t aking place during the Convergence. Full Weekend Pass Early bird: $75 After April 15th: $90 Day passes begin as soon as programming st art s each morning, until it ends each evening. Those who purchase day passes are welcome to join for the orientation, int roduct ions, and intention-setting that is happening t he evening of Friday, June 28th with the full weekend at t endees. Sat urday Day Pass Early bird: $45 After April 15th: $60 Sunday Day Pass Early bird: $35 After April 15th: $50 Meals All are encouraged to stay overnight, as there will be more of a chance to build community with the other attendees and teachers. You have the option of staying indoors in a dorm room, or camping out doors. Ov ernight indoor lodging: $25 per night Ov ernight camping: $10 per night Meal Passes There will be a prepared dinner for purchase on Sat urday night, as well as for breakfast s Sat urday and Sunday morning. Food trucks will be present during luncht ime on Sat urday and Sunday. Those not purchasing meals can bring picnic meals. Breakfast : $10 per person Dinner: $15 per person s & Donations For those who are not able to afford the ticket price as it st ands, please reach out to hello@midat lant i cpermacult ure.co m indicating so to access a discounted ticket rate. We have specific discount s for t hose earning lowincome wages, students, and veterans. No one will be t urned away from this event due to financial reasons! Donat ions Individual and organizat ional donations are needed to assist with the costs of this event. Organizat ions that donate will be featured on the event page and website, have the opt ion of displaying informat ion and products at a table throughout the weekend, and will be gifted two free tickets to the event. Fire and Clay The Rocket Mass Heater with Bradley Sanders The Rocket Mass Heat er, a masonry st ove, subst ant ially eliminat es inherent problems of t he st andard wood st ove. This t echnology renders wood a sust ainable fuel wit h no danger of chimney fires because t he high core t emperat ure nearly eliminat es pollut ant emission while using a small percent age of t he fuel used in a standard wood stove. During this workshop we will learn the basic principles of wood fired stoves and build and fire a dry-laid (without mortar) rocket st ove. Affordable Healthcare Make Your Own Herbal Remedies with Hillary Banachowski Everyone deserves access t o healt hcare...but who can afford it? Did you know that there is a world of healing medicine right under our feet, and it s free? Indigenous communities have been using plant s as healt hcare since t he beginning of t ime, and st ill do. In t his Medicine Making class, we will forage for wild plant s, learn about some of t heir healing propert ies and make some simple remedies for wellness. Digging into Swales with Michael Judd In t his workshop you will learn about creat ing swales on contour, how to plant them and lots of pract ical permacult ure. We will be marking cont our and building out a swale. This workshop is for anyone wanting to learn how to make product ive raised beds t hat passively harvest rain wat er great for garden or food forest starting. Mushroom Identification & Exploration with Marisa Cascia Join Marisa for a hands on exploration in to the mystical world of mushrooms. We will discover how to positively identify, and ethically harvest common mushrooms for food, medicine making, & nat ural dyes. We will also learn about t heir role in soil, forest, and human health.
