Please bring cleaning supplies: brooms, rags, buckets etc. MISSION STATEMENT 4-H EMPOWERS YOUTH TO REACH THEIR FULL POTENTIAL WORKING AND LEARNING IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CARING ADULTS

Static Exhibits You do not need to be signed up in 4-H Online to do any static exhibits (visual arts, woodworking, photography etc.) Go to the Union county website here to print off a static entry form or photography labels. All static exhibits require a static entry form! Bring this form with all of your projects to the fair on Saturday, July 19th to be judged. Check the 2014 Fair book to see when your club s assigned judging time is. Each member needs to write a project write-up to go along with each of their different projects. It is simply three questions that need to be answered: 1. What was your goal? 2. How did you go about working toward your goal? 3. What were the most important things you learned as you worked toward your goal? Bring this project write up with you to Static Exhibit Judging day on July 19th as well. Clover Kids: Clover Kids are welcome to bring static exhibits as well. They do not need to do a project write up. Clover Kids judging will take place on Sunday, July 20th from 4-5 PM AND Tuesday, July 22nd from 12:30-1:30 PM at the 4-H Exhibit Building. Then their exhibits will be put on display in the booth. County Fair Parade Floats Each club is encouraged to create a club float for the parade! The theme for 4-H floats this year is Ticket to Success. The Union County Fair parade is scheduled for Sunday, July 20th at 6:00 PM. Plan to arrive a few minutes early so you can receive a number and be judged.

COOL Papers (County of Origin and Labeling) If you have not turned in COOL papers for your livestock, please make sure you get that done as soon as possible. These papers must be signed by the person you purchased your animals from. If they were home raised, you are the seller, and you must still turn them in before you can show. The forms can be found on the website at http://www.extension.iastate.edu/union/4h Due to the extension office ASAP! Union County Cattlemen s Association The Union County Cattlemen s Association has several scholarship opportunities available to youth this year. Deadline to apply is July 12th. For applications and questions call Deron Shawley at 641-344-8989 Clothing Day 2014 Monday, July 7th, 3:00-7:00 PM Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston Get signed up for Clothing Day 2014!! Categories include: Clothing Selection, Fashion Revue, $15.00 Challenge and Mother/Daughter(Son) Challenge Go to the Union County website here to find all the necessary forms to be filled out by each member for their individual clothing projects and with them to the clothing event. 811 N. County Fair Club Duties and Information Don t forget to check out your exhibit times (if you cannot make your scheduled time, please call the office so we can get you into a different time slot), cook shack work time, and your building chaperone times in the fair book. Building Chaperone Duties: -Greet and welcome the public with a smile -Offer to show them where certain exhibits are located - Make sure all ribbons are showing on exhibits -Sweep the floors -Pick up trash Important Reminder: It is really important that each club member who sells an animal in the ring write a thank you note to the buyer. Buyers play a large role in making the sale a success for 4-Hers. Club leaders, take the lead in this task once the fair ends and pester your members to get thank you notes written! Miscellaneous I am on the lookout for volunteers during the county fair! If you would like to help out in anyway then please send me an email at hjones@iastate.edu or call the office at 641-782-8426. I am needing comment writers and ribbon table runners for Static Judging Day on July 19th from 8:30-3:30 PM. Fair books are in! Come into the extension office to pick up yours! One per family.
