Jay, bullpen blank Manatees in 1-0 shutout victory Chris Paul s two-out RBI double in the fourth inning provided the only offense of the evening at Space Coast Stadium in a 1-0 win for the Miracle over the Brevard County Manatees. Starter Tyler Jay went six innings and scattered seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts. Jay lowered his ERA for the season to 2.18 and has now thrown 15 consecutive scoreless frames. Luke Bard entered the game in the seventh and recorded a 1-2-3 frame, but allowed runners to reach the corners with no outs in the eighth. Bard knuckled down to strike out Elvis Rubio, then get George Iskenderian to roll into a double play. Yorman Landa finished the game for his third save with a scoreless ninth. The Miracle turned a season-high five double plays and won the game despite being out hit, 10 to five and striking out a season-high 15 times. Tailspin takes Miracle from top of division to five out On May 16, the Miracle defeated the Dunedin Blue Jays, 5-2, at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium to improve to six games above.500 at 22-16; a highwater mark for the season. With a grip of first place at the time, the Miracle entered a downward spiral that began the following day with a 4-0 shutout loss to the D-Jays. Since May 17, the Miracle are 6-14 and have dropped from a division leader to five games back in the South. In the last 20 games, the Miracle offense has scored three or less runs 12 times and averaged 2.6 runs scored. The Miracle will have three position players: shortstop Nick Gordon, first baseman Trey Vavra and outfielder Edgar Corcino. Starter Kohl Stewart and reliever Raul Fernandez were also selected to the All-Star roster, but have been promoted to Double-A Chattanooga. Roster shake-up forces a series of player moves On June 6 and June 7, the Miracle roster was rearranged by a series of moves prior to a nine-game road trip. On June 6, Raul Fernandez, a South Division All-Star, was promoted to Double-AA Chattanooga and third baseman T.J. White was transferred to Fort Myers from the Lookouts. White began the season with the Miracle, but was promoted on April 14. The native of Las Vegas, Nevada hit just.145 in 34 games for Doug Mientkiewicz in the Southern League. A day later, the Miracle bid farewell to Engelb Vielma and Chad Christensen. Vielma was promoted back up to Double-A, but Christensen was given his release by the Twins organization. The open spots on the roster were filled by Alex Perez, a middle infielder from Cedar Rapids (A), and Joe Maloney, an outfielder from Chattanooga.
