There are two new pieces of legislation that have an major impact of horse owners, breeders and yard owners. All but one of the sanctions come into place on 1 November 2018. The key points are; 1. Two new additional tools given to enforcement officers a) Compliance Notices - the offender will be given the opportunity to comply with the regulations. Failure to do so will incur a Compliance Notice Penalty b) Fixed Penalty Notices - These will be issued in the same way as driving offences. Monetary fines set by Local Authorities. One of the ways these are picked up is through the Central Equine Database and through enforcement officers The actual monetary penalties are as yet to be determined. 2. BREEDERS - You need to notify AQHAUK that you have bred a foal by 1 October. And, register no later than 30 November. I will be developing a new form for this and it will be available on the website by the end of September. Failure to notify could / will lead to prosecution and this is picked up through the CED at registration. 3. Transfers of Ownership MUST be completed within 30 days. This is not new but will be pick up through the CED after 1 November and penalty fines issued. 4. Yard owners can also be prosecuted where horses liveried at their yards fail to meet the regulations. So check that owners have a passport and that it is in the name of the person purporting to be the owner! 5. Yard owners can no longer withhold a passport for failure of an owner to pay their bills. 6. Passports will from 1 November be called ID Documents 7. Passport Issuing Organisations will become known as Issuing Bodies. There are many more regulations that apply to vets and to issuing bodies and thus far it is early days with regards the regulations. I am sure more will follow so we will keep you posted of those that affect you as we become aware. JOURNAL 2018 Attention: Have you won any Awards or high points or ROMS this year? If
so please let us know - we do not get regular updates from the AQHA so we may be completely unaware of your proud achievements! Please send details to us at journal.aqhauk@gmail.com as soon as you can so that we can feature you in the journal and on the website.
Go to the website for details of the qualifiers list, the patterns for all of the classes and all much more. https://www.aqha.uk.com/breed-show-2018/ Thank you to all of the Breed Show 2018 Sponsors! Your generosity is very much appreciated - we look forward to seeing you at the show!
Please note that there will be a photographer at the Breed Show but no live feed or video. We held a vote earlier in the year but sadly had only 13 valid responses, the results of which are below. Members had also expressed to Council verbally that they wished to keep costs down and it was therefore decided at a Council meeting to have a photographer only. The results were 5 votes for video/live stream, 5 votes for still photography only, and 3 votes to keep the usual arrangements. Auction at The Breed Show On Saturday evening there will be an auction for the membership cards photo for the forthcoming year - if you wish your horse to be the face of the AQHA UK then be at the event - or we can take telephone bids on the night! There will also be a general auction of items which will include a portrait of your horse by the artist Kay Irvine. Thank you to Kay for your very generous donation! Images below: Kay Irvine with some of her beautiful work.
