Code of Conduct and Expectations for a Diplomat Player I understand that for the duration of the soccer season, three days and six hours or more per week may be dedicated to practice and that matches are held primarily on Saturdays and some Sundays. I understand that while the club schedulers try to put schedules out early in the week, game locations and times may not come out until Thursday or even Friday. Game days can sometimes extend the entire day, although most usually begin in the morning and end around midafternoon. I understand this and agree to the devotion required before trying out for an ODYFC team. I understand that the ODYFC is a competitive team and there are no guarantees on playing time. I will arrive at practice and games on time and with the proper equipment, uniform, and water. I will remember the real purpose of soccer competition is to: have fun; improve skills; develop sportsmanship; develop a sense of responsibility and self-discipline; develop group loyalty and camaraderie; enjoy the unique experience of competing among international teams; learn to compete within established rules; learn to accept decisions of authorized officials; and to develop my skills as an individual player. I will not make negative or disparaging comments to the officials at any time during or after a match. I will not make negative or disparaging comments to players on either team at any time during or after a match. I will treat other players with the courtesy, respect, and consideration with which I want other players to show me. I will remember that winning and losing a match are both opportunities to learn and to improve as an individual player and as a team. I will develop my soccer skills and knowledge to the best of my abilities, both individually and as a member of a team. I will act as an ambassador for both our country and the sport. I will set a positive example of who we are and what we represent. I will play by the Laws of the Game as set forth by FIFA and the By Laws of the ODYFC. I will control my temper. I will resist the temptation to retaliate when I feel I have been wronged. I will cooperate with my coaches, teammates, opponents, and the officials. I will take time to improve my soccer skills outside of games and scheduled team practices. I will eat well and get plenty of rest. I will give 100% effort 100% of the time. I will never be out-hustled on the field. My job as a player is to have fun, learn, and succeed. I understand that failure to follow these rules may result in the revocation of my membership in the Okinawa Diplomats Youth Futbol Club without financial reimbursement being made to me or my parents.
