Monday Night Darts 2014 Season 1. This year, we have 22 teams in total. 3 players per team. Teams are split into two divisions, the BLUE division and the WHITE division, where there are 11 teams in each division. The teams were separated based on total team point average, with the higher average teams in the Blue Division, and the lower scoring teams in the White Division. New teams were given a rough average to complete the division separation. There are 7 boards in the front room, and 4 boards in the back room. This year, we will have 5 weeks of Division Play, followed by a Cross Division Bumper Week. Another 5 weeks of Cross Division games, followed by a Divisional Bumper Week. Then, another 5 games followed by our last seasonal game on February 4 th, a Cross Division Bumper Week. All games, regardless of division, will count toward your team s final seeding for the year-end tournament. 2. There will be two tournaments this year. Our typical "Year-End" tournament, which is a seeded double-elimination tournament based upon your team's record. Winners of this tournament receive a Toms River Elks Lodge #1875 jacket with your name on the front chest. The year-end tournament will commence on February 10, 2014, and conclude on February 17, 2014. There are no substitutes allowed in the Year-End tournament so please note the dates. If you are unable to make the one of the days in this tournament, your team must take your "Blind", which is 80% of your average. The second tournament will be held on December 23, 2013 during our annual Xmas party. To mix things up a bit, I thought it would be fun to have a single elimination "Splash" tournament. Teams will be chosen out of a hat and will consist of 3 players each. You will use your averages to determine your team average, and play will follow the Xmas tournament bracket posted on the corkboard. Winners of this tournament will receive something special at the awards banquet, usually held in mid- March.

3. Dues are $5.00 per week per player including subs. If you miss a week, or can t pay a given week, that s fine, however you will owe the weeks you have missed upon return. This year, we play 18 regular season weeks. That s $90 over the course of the season. This year, due to the number of players and my sanity, I will discount the season dues by $10 if you pay up front over the course of the first four weeks. That s $20 per week for the first four weeks totaling $80, and you are done. If you wish to pay week to week, I understand, and that s fine, but you must pay the full $90 before the start of the playoffs on Feb 10, 2014. We start at 7 pm every Monday night. At 7pm, I make a few announcements, and we start playing. That means you must be here before 7pm to get your score sheets together, pay for the week, find your board, etc I will not collect money, answer questions etc.. after 7pm. In other words, please be here well before 7pm to get sorted out. 4. We have a bar in the back room to stay hydrated with our favorite bartender Marian. If there is something that you regularly like, don t hesitate to ask Marian, as she may be able to accommodate your request. Mark is our bartender upstairs after darts is over. 5. Monday Night Dart League Rules: League Rules are posted on the corkboards. Some particular points of discussion are as follows: The blue tape on the floor is the Toe Line. The back of the tape has been placed at the regulation distance, 7-3 for American Style Darts. It is a generally acceptable practice to hang your toes off the toe line. This is why 2 tape is on the floor. It will be our league rules that you may not have any part of your foot beyond the blue tape closest to the board. In the event someone is in fact over the line, the opposing team must immediately mention to the shooter, but let s not have a problem please. No lunging toward the board after you throw each dart. General etiquette while shooting is to wait until you neighbor is done shooting to approach the board and pull darts. The next player always scores the points for the player who just got done

shooting. Please use fingers to show how many points for the scorekeeper, before you pull the darts. If you have trouble determining what point value a particular dart may be, please ask for a second look from an opposing team member. Also, this is a fun league. That said, please be respectful to the opposing team while they are shooting darts. In other words, keep quiet while the other team is shooting. Please note our American paper dart boards have wire separating point values. The point value for a dart is that in which the dart lies. Sometimes the red or white paper runs into the other areas. Just because the dart may be stuck in red paper, does not mean it is two points. The wire determines the value. Also, split wire goes to the higher point value. 6. Each week, find out what team you play on the schedule posted on the corkboard, as well as the Board # you play on. Go to the Averages Statistics and write down each of your team members individual averages, including the averages of each member from the opposing team. Individual Averages have been carried over from last year, for those of you that played. For the first 3 weeks, your average will consist of your most recent scores, plus your old average. Newcomers averages will continually change based upon each week s play. At the end of third week, all players will have a new season average based strictly on your last nine games. If you don t already have an average, you must play all three games opening night, then establish what your average will be for this night. Take your 3 scores and find the average for each player (new players only). Then you must determine your team average by adding all three members individual averages. You then compare that to the team average of whom you are playing. You take 80% of the difference, and the lower team average gets those additional points as a handicap. Please don t hesitate to ask any of the players around the room for help if you have questions regarding this topic. 7. Substitutes. You may have up to two subs per team per week until the playoffs and year-end tournament. When using a sub, you use his average

in lieu of your absent member s average. Then you figure out the team handicap by taking 80% of the difference between team averages. You may opt to take a blind if no subs are available. A Blind means 80% of your absent member s average. Taking a sub is encouraged since they are here to play and in most cases, you have a better probability of doing better as a team than taking a blind. If you know you or a teammate will be absent the following week, please try to find a substitute in advance. Typically, the subs will let me know they are available for the night, and I will try to point them in the direction of a team needing one. Therefore, please let me know as soon as you get to the lodge if you need a sub. 8. Awards for this year will consist of a winner for the BLUE & WHITE divisions respectively. The higher win/loss ratio for these two teams will win the most coveted award of achieving the best seasonal record. Team jackets will be provided to the season winner. Collared shirts to the other divisional winner. After regular season play, we start our tournament. It will be a single game, double elimination tournament. The bracket for the 22 team tournament is posted on the board. The tournament will start Feb 10 th and continue to finality on Feb 17 th. There are no dues these two days. You may want to note this on your phones or calendars as there are no substitutes for the tournament. You must take a blind for absent team members during the tournament. The tournament winner will have their names put on the plaque and receive a jacket as well. T-shirts indicating the Final Four teams will also be given out at the banquet. 9. Other important dates. No darts October 14 th due to the Elks Golf Outing, and on December 23 th we will have our annual Xmas party. There will be a an open bar this night for some period of time. 10. Every week we do a Nine Pool for a dollar per player each week. If you don t do it one week, you may get in the following weeks, but must pay for each week you missed in advance. Please see Bruce Waller for the nine pool. I am looking for assistance with the 50/50. It s a super high paying

job with great benefits. Please tell me if you wish to take on this most prestigious honor. 11. Give Scott sheets when through. Please mark subs or blinds in the left margin of the score sheets. This is so I know while entering in the new stats. 12. Each week, there is a high-game winner, and a high-series winner based on the prior week s play. Teams to clean up will be whatever team of the team member who won the High Series for the week. 13. Questions, Comments & Concerns. Please feel free to ask me either before or after we are done shooting darts. Thank you and let's have another great season! Scott Golembeski (732)-814-8000. And most of all. Remember the Code!!!!!!
