Pirate Athletics Week in Review BOYS BASKETBALL PIRATES: 53 NICOLET: 44 The Pirates faced the Knights of Nicolet at home on Friday night. Defense was the key for the night and shutting down Nicolet's ability to offensive rebound. The Pirates held an early 14-10 advantage after one quarter and the second quarter was even better for Port as they held the opponent to 5 for the quarter. The Pirates behind strong play of Sam Weiland and Darius Will took a 28-15 lead into halftime. Nicolet wouldn't go away easy as they were able to close the gap in the third quarter to 38-30 heading into the final frame. The Pirates would dig in on the defensive end and continue to rebound the ball extremely well in the fourth quarter. Nic Schueller, Sam, and Tay Jackson led the charge in the rebounding department. Some timely free throws by Sam Weiland helped secure the 9 point victory for the Pirates and equaled a season best three game winning streak. Port was led in scoring by Sam Weiland with 18. Tay Jackson and Patrick McDonald each had 10 points. Brennan Cassidy had a nice game chipping in with 7, Darius Will and Matt Kirmse each had 4 points to round out the scoring. The Pirates boys teams will be at Cedarburg on Tuesday night, we hope to see everyone there! GIRLS BASKETBALL PIRATES: 40 NICOLET: 44 The Lady Pirates gave host Nicolet all they could handle Friday night, before falling 40-44 in a North Shore conference showdown. After trailing 16-21 at halftime, the Lady Pirates clawed back to take a 39-36 lead with two minutes to play. However, turnovers and miscues down the stretch left the Lady Pirates on the short end. Next up, a tough matchup against Cedarburg Tuesday night. GYMNASTICS PIRATES: 122.175 BROOKFIELD: 129.575 Led by Dani O'Donnell, the Varsity girls posted their highest team score of the season. On the way to 122.175 team points, O'Donnell posted career bests on beam (8.525), bars (8.2), and all-around (32.85).She finished 2nd on bars, tied for 3rd on beam, and was 3rd all-around.

As a unit, the girls posted their best vault and bars scores of the season. The vault score of 32.1 came from Kaylyn Garant (8.45), O'Donnell (8.15), Hailey Brakke (7.9), and Kristen Smith (7.6). Garant finished 3rd on vault. The bars score of 28.65 came from O'Donnell, Brakke (7.275), Garant (7.1), and Morgan Lopez (6.075). Additional personal bests came from Brakke on vault and bars, and season highs from Lopez on bars and floor (6.925) and Smith on floor (8.325). In a race that was much closer than the final score indicates because of two 0's on bars, the JV lost to Brookfield 85.8-96.65. Kristen Smith was 1st on beam with a 7.1. Kylee Paradowski tied for 2nd with a 6.5. On floor, Cierra Neitzel was first with a 7.2 and Carolyn Henkle was 3rd with a 7.0. Henkle also tied for 3rd on vault (7.4). Fallon Kennedy was 3rd on bars with a 3.5. WRESTLING PIRATES: 58 GERMANTOWN: 12 The Pirates saved their best performance of the season for Senior and Parents night on Thursday! In the final home dual of the year, the Pirates rolled to a 58-12 victory over Germantown. Pirate pins were turned in by: Brandon Willms (220), Noah Rosado (120), Manny Rosado (132), Brandon Moeller (138), Quentin Lueck (152), and Alec Masters (170). It was a great honoring our Seniors in their final home dual! Thanks for all the hard work and great memories Noah Rosado, Brandon Moeller, Brannon Bauer, Quentin Lueck, Jordan Clark, Brandon Willms, and Andy Fidler! PULASKI INVITE The Pirates finished in 7th place out of 16 teams at the Pulaski Invite. This is the toughest "Wisconsin-only" tournament in the state! Noah Rosado won the championship at 113lbs for his 2nd career Pulaski Invite title! Noah proved he will be a major contender for a WIAA State Championship at the end of the month! Zach Smith (120) and Quentin Lueck (145) also made the finals, but came up a little short. Andy Fidler also turned in a 4th place finish. It was a very good tune up for the NSC tourney and the WIAA Tournament Series coming up. The Pirates look continue their NSC title streak this Saturday at Milwaukee Lutheran, wrestling begins at 10am.
