STEWARDS REPORT Goulburn & District Racing Club GOULBURN RACECOURSE Saturday 18th February 2017 Weather: Overcast Track: Good (4) Rail: True STEWARDS: J D Walshe, C G Polglase, T J Vassallo, T M McDonald & Cadet I H Grimes Race 1: Goulburn Workers Club Country Maiden Showcase Handicap 1000m: Mystirica R Bensley was reprimanded in respect to his use of the whip prior to the 100m (AR137A(5)(a)(ii)). I ll Tell Ya Slow to begin. Buddabadah On jumping was crowded between True Worth and Thomas Crowns which shifted out. Overraced in the early and middle stages. On straightening had to restrained when awkwardly placed close to the heels of Missed Out. Girl Most Likely Overraced throughout the early and middle stages. Laid in in the home straight. Olyjess - Raced wide throughout. Missed Out - Obilged to race wide in the early and middle stages and raced greenly in the straight. Thomas Crowns Rider K Jennings reported his mount greenly throughout and did not respond to his riding at any stage. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer D Williams advised that the gelding would now be spelled. Race 2: Goulburn Produce Benchmark 65 Showcase Handicap 2300m: Megawatt The mare was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 12.58pm when, upon arrival at the start, it was found to be lame in its off foreleg. Subsequently it was directed that all monies invested on the mare be refunded with all successful bets with bookmakers made prior to 12.58pm be subject to the following deductions: 1 st Fly Till Dawn 9c win, 8c place 2 nd Rosaruby 8c place 3 rd Fracking 14c place Trainer C Ritchie was advised a veterinary clearance is required prior to the mare being presented to race again.
Tuscan Reign Slow to begin. Passing the 300m rider A Layt was accidentally struck across the left elbow by the whip of App J Devrimol (Rosaruby). A Layt stated that after passing the winning post on the first occasion his mount commenced to hang out badly and after entering the back straight ran wide before being shifted back in when making the turn near the 900m and had proved difficult to ride. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer K Parker advised that the gelding would now be spelled. Stewards ruled that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of stewards prior to racing again. Fracking Approaching the winning post on the first occasion was eased off the heels of Rosaruby (App J Devrimol) which shifted in when not quite clear. App Devrimol was advised to exercise more care. Calaway Cruizer After the 400m was restrained from the heels of Siberian Rose when taken in onto the heels of that runner by Fly Till Dawn, which after attempting a narrow run between Calaway Cruizer and Tuscan Reign, was then taken in by Tuscan Reign which laid in. Rosaruby App J Devrimol was spoken to regarding his use of the whip prior to the 100m. In taking no direct action the Stewards considered the totality of App Devrimol s whip use throughout the event. Race 3: David Alt Electrical Maiden Showcase Handicap 1300m: Emoclew Slow to begin. Poet s Edition Began awkwardly and was hampered shortly after by Acraman which shifted in. Sail to Glory When questioned concerning the performance of the filly, App M McGillivray stated from his wide barrier he was obliged to settle further back in the field today. He added after being disappointed for a run leaving the 600m between Emoclew and Cape Tribulation his mount then lost momentum however he was pleased with the manner in which mount finished off its race over the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Cape Tribulation Overraced in the middle stages. Near the 900m was checked when crowded by Daydream Explorer which pulled itself into a position where there was not sufficient room to the inside of Clear The Debt which shifted back in after initially shifting out slightly. Duchess Royale Passing the 1000m was steadied off the heels of Daydream Explorer (B El-Issa) which shifted in when not clear. B El-Issa was advised to exercise more care. Refuge Bay Near the 900m was restrained off the heels of Masipag. A short distance later was steadied off the heels of Madison Gardens (App N Heywood) which shifted in when not quite clear. App N Heywood was advised to exercise more care Clear The Deck Raced wide throughout. Madison Gardens Leaving the 900m was steadied off the heels of Cleese (M Bell) which shifted in when not quite clear. M Bell was advised to exercise more care. Race 4: When Ginny Met Judy Maiden Showcase Plate 1600m: Iserlohn Reared as the start was effected and lost ground (4L). A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding which took no competitive part in the event, revealed no abnormalities. Stable
representative Ms J Berry was advised that the gelding must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. Make It Easy Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 1000m was steadied off the heels of Zablitz (G Buckley) which shifted in when not clear. G Buckley was advised to exercise more care. Equipped Bumped on jumping by Confess and Avoid which shifted in. Teraway M Cahill was found guilty of a charge under AR137(b) of having failed to ride his mount out to the line. M Cahill was fined $400. In assessing penalty Stewards considered the nose margin between Teraway (placed 5 th ) and Confess and Avoid (placed 4 th ). Zablitz When questioned, G Buckley stated that whilst his mount was obliged to travel wide throughout, it made a respiratory noise in the run and also on pulling up. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Co-trainer Mr R Price was advised a veterinary certificate including the satisfactory results of an endoscopic examination would be required prior to the filly being permitted to race again. Tarakona Slow to begin. Trainer K Parker was advised that the gelding which was beaten 39L must barrier trial to the satisfaction of the stewards prior to racing again. Race 5: Jewel Builders Benchmark 55 Showcase Handicap 1600m: Orrstar Trainer N Osborne reported to the Stewards that the gelding was found to have some minor swelling to its offside knee. The gelding was subsequently examined by the club s veterinary officer and passed fit to start. Over-raced in the early and middle stages. Coco Rio A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Epinician When questioned regarding the performance, rider K Jennings stated that his mount never felt comfortable at any stage and was disappointing in its failure to run on. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stars And Storm Raced wide throughout. Path of Justice Held up in the early part of the straight and passing the 300m had to be shifted to the outside to obtain clear running. Race 6: Semco Class 1 Showcase Handicap 1000m: Kijitsu The gelding was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 9.08am. Mercurial Lad On jumping was bumped by Surprise Party which shifted in. Loose Goose Raced wide throughout. Turbo Bundy Raced wide throughout. Leaving the 100m was eased off the heels of Mercurial Lad (K Jennings) which shifted out under riding. K Jennings was reprimanded (AR137(a)). Bandit Belle Passing the 300m was contacted by Exotherm (Ms T O Hara) which shifted out. Ms T O Hara was advised to exercise more care. Near the 200m was checked when crowded by Exotherm which was carried out by Turbo Bundy which after initially being taken out, shifted out and away from
Mercurial Lad (K Jennings) which improved into a narrow run between Surprise Party (B Loy) which shifted out, and Turbo Bundy. Both K Jennings and B Loy were advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances. Canny Palance Passing the 150m had to be steadied from the heels of Onemore For Mumma which shifted in slightly. Exotherm Held up until near the 250m. Race 7: SERA Country Championships Qualifier 1400m: Gambled Trainer K Goldman reported to the Stewards that the gelding was found to have abrasions to both sides of its larynx due to friction associated with a wind sucking device. Mr Goldman tendered a veterinary clearance to Stewards. The gelding was examined by the club s veterinary officer on arrival on track and was passed fit to start. Shutter Bug Slow to begin. Ruthless Agent A little slow to begin. Grasp A post race veterinary examination of the gelding which got its head down for some distance after the start and refused to stretch out at any stage did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer T Lyttle was advised that the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. I Told George Near the 1300m was checked when crowded for room between Ruthless Agent and Chaquinta, which after being taken in slightly by Steel Frost (App M McGillvray) then laid in. App M McGillvray was reprimanded (AR137(a)). Red Fender A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Jorgeus When questioned J Penza stated his mount travelled strongly in the run however shortly after straightening his mount was immediately under pressure was failed to respond thereafter. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Chaquinta Raced wide throughout and lay in under pressure in the straight. Ruthless Agent Passing the 300m was disappointed for a run between Gambled and Jorgeus which shifted in. Race 8: Sun Solutions Benchmark 55 Showcase Handicap 1300m: Salesman Overraced in the early stages. Singled Out Overraced in the early stages. Zuzzudio On jumping made contact with Immy and as consequence then shifted out and bumped Salesman.
