The Bow Spring 2005 Tsali Lodge # 134 Order of the Arrow Balsam Nantahala Pigeon River SoQua Smoky Mountain Terrora Toe River 2005 SR-5 Dixie Fellowship Hi my fellow brothers. Once again, it is time to gather with all the other lodges of SR-5 to compete at the 2005 SR-5 Dixie Fellowship. This years Dixie will be hosted by Muscogee lodge and will be held at Camp Barstow April 22-24. If any of you have never experienced a Dixie, it is a great opportunity to get of your house, go camping, compete for bragging rights, and to just have a great time with all of your fellow brothers. Every year Tsali Lodge goes to the Dixie and has a blast there. This year s theme will be Ghostbusters, which includes a patch when you come to Dixie. Events at Dixie include Ultimate Frisbee, Knot Tying, Egg Tosses, Cross Country, canoe racing, Indian Affairs competition, etc. There is an event for everyone to participate in making your time at Dixie well spent. Previous years have proven that INSIDE the Dixie Fellowship is a great time. If you don t believe what you are reading then just ask any other fellow brother that has attended a Dixie Fellowship. Don t miss out on your chance to have a fun time at the 2005 SR-5 Dixie Fellowship. If this will be your first time, just remember to have a blast and you will fit right in. see 2005 Spring Fellowship p.3 Chiefly Speaking... 2 Winter Banquet Wrap-Up... 2 2005 Spring Fellowship... 3 2005 Spring Ordeal... 3 Advisor s Minute... 4 OA Dues... 4 Officer Reports... 5 Dance Team... 6 Registration Slips... 7

Brothers, CHIEFLY SPEAKING This year has gotten off to an awesome start. For those of you who are un-aware, we have already held our first two sessions of our Spring Series. Thanks to all of you who have attended these workshops and committed your time to Indian Affairs within the lodge. Also as part of the Spring Series, the Tsali Lodge Dance and Drum team have been meeting regularly preparing for the upcoming Dixie fellowship. The teams have had very few performances but are very much prepared for the Dixie, their first competition. Good luck to all of you as you represent the lodge in this event. I encourage all of you who have not registered for Dixie to still do so. It is not too late and there are plenty of spots available. The majority of our contingent needs to be youth within the lodge. Adults are more than welcome, but we never have the youth numbers that we need. We are hoping to take a full size charter bus this year to help out with transportation for everyone. Traveling together as a group will add to the Dixie experience as we all go to have a great weekend. Another event we have coming up is our Wednesday night call-out ceremonies at Camp Daniel Boone. This is a one of our main events in the year where the lodge is able to be seen by not only our council, but several others throughout the entire country. We are always in need of help for these events and we can always find a job for anyone. If you are interested, feel free to talk to either myself or any lodge officer at an upcoming event. Always in Brotherhood, Adam Kuykendall 2005 Tsali Lodge Chief 2005 Winter Banquet The 2005 Winter Banquet was again held out at Camp Daniel Boone in Ledbetter Lodge. This was a time to look at coming lodge events, past lodge events, eat good food, and watch the induction of the new officers of the 2005 year. Officers inducted this year to their offices included Adam Kuykendall for Lodge Chief, Kevin Schwock as V i c e C h i e f o f Administration, Brian Boushey as Vice Chief of Indian Affairs, James Greene as Vice Chief of Program, and Noah Weissman as Lodger Secretary. This year s Winter Banquet provided a preview of our Tsali Lodge dance team which is growing at every lodge event. Thanks to Mr. Bill Dyar, our dance team as come a long way from being just an idea to a reality. Also, 2 this year s menu included Chicken Cordon bleu, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, a roll, salad, and a variety of drinks. To wrap it up, a huge cake was eaten for dessert. If this all sounds great to you remember to come attend the Winter Banquet next year for some delicious food and just a good time.

2005 Spring Fellowship The time is coming closer for Tsali Lodge to have its 2005 Spring Fellowship once again. For all of you Ordeal members who have been patiently waiting for 10 months, this is the opportunity for you to earn the Brotherhood honor and get those desired bars on your OA sash. However, remember, being a brotherhood member is not all about the new sash, but about being a more serious member within the lodge. The Brotherhood sash shows that you are a hard-working member within the lodge in whatever way possible. Remember to know and live the Obligation. Also, learn the Brotherhood song and know some history of the OA and you will find yourself wearing a new brotherhood sash. Don t worry, if you are already a brotherhood member and are wondering what you can do at the fellowship, remember the name says it all. It is a time of fun, but also work. Your help is greatly needed for the work projects that go on throughout camp. No matter what your reason for attending, come out for a great weekend out at CDB on April 8-10. OA members working on the dock at the past Spring Fellowship. 2005 Spring Ordeal Fellow brothers, May 20-22 is a date that is only about two and a half months away. These days are the weekend of the 2005 Tsali Lodge Spring Ordeal. As many of you know, this is the time when scouts from different troops are welcome to come out to Camp Daniel Boone and become an Ordeal member within the OA community of Tsali Lodge. During this time, many work projects will be arranged for the candidates to work on during the day. 3 Elangomats will be needed to help coordinate the Ordeal candidates throughout the weekend, guide them, sleep with them, and work with them throughout the weekend. If you are interested in being an Elangomat, remember to sign up on Friday, May 20 during registration. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Spring Ordeal is also a great time to help with work projects that will be going on all weekend. If you just want to help out then come out. If your thinking that all you will be doing is working, then you are wrong. Spring Ordeal is also a great time to have fun with your fellow brothers and meet new people who are looking to become part of the OA. Mark the Ordeal weekend on your calendars and come out and join us on that weekend. Ordeal candidates, with their Elangomat, help carry and stack wood.

Advisor s ADVISORS Minute MINUTE Brothers, C a m p i s beginning to look better. All the hard work has gone a long way in making it happen. Without the dedicated efforts of Eddie and the many troops working together, you have made a difference. We shall overcome the floods of last fall. The Spring Fellowship and Dixie Fellowship are coming soon. There are still openings for the Dixie so get your registration in soon. We plan to take 50 brothers to Dixie for a weekend of fun and fellowship. As always Dixie proves to be fun, competition, patch trading, and fellowship. If you have not attended Dixie you have missed a great time with the brothers of SR-5. Don t for get to change you calendar to show the Spring Ordeal is May 20-22. This was necessary due to Jamboree Shakedown. If you have not paid your lodge dues, you will be dropped from the mailing list after the Spring Fellowship. So get your dues paid. Yours in brotherhood, Dan Little Dues My fellow brothers, it is time again to pay our OA dues to Tsali Lodge. Remember, these dues help contribute to our lodge and the activities that we do. Also keep in mind that you cannot receive a copy of The Bow if you are not keeping up with your dues. So for your own sake, please pay your dues as soon as possible.
