Task Organization of a Squad SQUAD LEADER: A technically and tactically proficient leader who accomplishes all tasks assigned to his squad by his superiors. Characterized by aggression, courage, and integrity. Responsible for the maneuver of two fire teams and their respective leaders DO: Take responsibility, assess the situation rapidly, and make sound/timely decisions KEYS TO SUCCESS: 1.Understand what your Task is and the Purpose for doing it 2.Have your Squad ready to deploy quickly and never miss a time hack 3.Always use your firepower properly by placing each team with the right equipment in the right place at the right time 4.Never quit. Never accept defeat. 5.Always show motivation and willingness to do the hard right over the easy wrong 6.Follow the five principles of patrolling: 1. Planning 2. Recon 3. Security 4. Control 5. Common Sense

Movement Formations: Purpose Teams and Squads use formations for: Control Security Flexibility Fire Capability

Squad Movement Formations: Squad Column Normally used as the primary formation Squad Line Used when maximum fire power is required to the front (i.e. laying base of fire) Squad File Used within close terrain, vegetation, limited visibility conditions

Movement Formations: Squad Basic formation 10 meters between soldiers Distance between teams depends on terrain, visibility, and likelihood of enemy contact Fire Team formations include wedge and file in this Squad formation Column Auto ( Pointman ) Squad Leader (Compass) Auto (Pace)
