Equipment Game Ball Parks and Recreatin prvides the fficial game ball fr each match. The game ball shall be a Tachikara Official SV-5WSC inflated 4-6 psi. Playing Equipment and Unifrms All players must wear clse-ted shes that d nt scuff the curt. Players are nt required t wear any kind f padding (e.g., knee pads, elbw pads, braces), but it is encuraged fr safety in all matches. N player shall wear any device that gives him r her an unfair playing advantage, which shall be determined by the referees n each curt. Teams are nt required t wear unifrms, but they are certainly encuraged. General League Rules Net Height and Curt Rules The net height in the Game On League shall be set at 7 11 ⅝. The net height in the Chill Out League shall be set at 7 2 1/8. Balls may be played ff the ceiling and lights nly if the ball lands n the same side f the team that kncked the ball int the ceiling; the ball must be played by a different player than last tuched the ball. The ceiling itself des nt cunt as a hit. The rle f the captain includes: T regularly receive league updates and standings frm the recreatin prgram crdinatr. T slely represent her r his team t cmmunicate with a referee in a match. T maintain the team rster. T vte, thrugh email, n varius items that arise in the league. Teams A team shall cnsist f six players. A team must have at least fur players t begin a match. Teams may "pick up" players during the regular seasn, but n player shall play in the turnament withut being n a team's final rster. A team rster is due at registratin, but may be updated until the end f the fifth week f play. All team rsters will be verified befre a turnament match begins. Players may play in the Game On and Chill Out leagues during the turnament and seasn, but a team shall cnsist f a majrity f players that play exclusively in the league in that the team is entered. Fr instance, a Game On League team with eight players must have at least five players that nly play in that league. A team shall have equal numbers f male and female players n the curt unless: A team is playing with five players (then a team must have three female players and tw male players n the curt r vice-versa). There shall always be at least ne male and ne female player n each rw f each team's side. A team is allwed t substitute ne psitin per set. This means that if a team chses t substitute the serving psitin, they may cycle players in and ut f that psitin s lng as rtatin is maintained. A team shall be allwed tw 45-secnd time uts per set. The Match Length f Game (Rally scred is used. A pint is scred each serve, regardless f service team.) Each match shall be wn best tw sets ut f three. Game On League matches are played: 25-25-21, and Chill Out League matches are 25-25-21. Teams must win by tw. Each Set has a cap, and a team wins the set if: either team reaches 30 in the first tw sets r if either team reaches 25 in the last set. Grace Perid If teams are 10-15 minutes late, they may still play, but must frfeit the first set. If teams are mre than 15 minutes late, they shall frfeit the match. Playing the Ball Service A player must serve behind back line and the player s ft may nt crss the back line during service until the ball is released. A player may chse t jump during her r his serve. Let serves are allwed (a served ball may hit the net befre ging t the ppnents side). Players n the receiving end f service may nt blck r attack the serve. This means that a player in the frnt zne cannt cmplete an attack hit when receiving a serve s lng as the ball is cmpletely abve the tp f the net. A player must wait t be signaled by the referee t serve. A ball may hit any part f a player s bdy and remain playable. Any play n the ball must be a clean hit that is nt: caught, thrwn r makes prlnged cntact. A ball may strike a player s ft, but the ball must rebund; r the cntact shall be called a lift. Duble-hits shall be allwed nly n a serve-receive. Blcks d nt cunt as a player s first hit. Aside frm knuckle tips and service, all verhand hits must be pen-handed (n clsed fists). Pst-Seasn Turnament (Single Eliminatin) Entry Guaranteed All teams play in the pst-seasn turnament. Seeding is determined by standings based n league play. Scheduling and Prgressin In the 2017-2018 seasns, all league turnaments will begin and end n the regularly scheduled night fr each league. Rsters A player must be n a team rster t play in the turnament. A rster vilatin results in a lss f the current match. All rsters are checked fr accuracy befre a turnament match begins, and all players Ntes shuld expect t present regular identificatin, such as a driver's license r a passprt. Rster prtests shall nt be accepted, because all rsters are checked befre each turnament match. Sprtsmanship Our league prides itself n being a psitive, friendly, and team-building experience fr all players regardless f previus vlleyball experience. Players may be ejected and suspended fr any instance f unsprtsmanlike cnduct, which is nt limited t, but includes: prfuse bscene language, abundantly arguing decisins made by a referee, such as judgment calls, r misusing the vlleyball curts r Yvnne Richardsn Cmmunity Center facilities. Free Agents A free agent list shall be regularly sent t captains. Free agents may play n teams thrughut the regular seasn, even after rsters are lcked. Free agents must be n a team's final rster t play with that team during the turnament. Changes in the League r Designatin f Teams in the Turnament The recreatin prgram manager reserves the right t mdify the rules t better all teams, but must ntify all teams when a rule change happens. The recreatin prgram manager reserves the right t place teams in different divisins in the league and pst-seasn turnament fr any reasn. Unless this rulebk cnflicts, current USA Vlleyball playing rules shall be used.
