LA Kings Icetown Riverside Orange Twist Open ISI Open Competition Competition Information Competition Dates: Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15, 2018 Entry Form Deadline: Sunday, March 11, 2018 All entry fees will be doubled after the form deadline, if accepted. We ask that coaches please check to ensure that all of the information on the entry form is correct before mailing. The information on the entry form must be accurate and complete. All Skater Memberships and Test levels will be verified. Inaccurate and/or incomplete forms will be returned. There will be a $10.00 fee for each change made to the original entry form. Address: 10540 Magnolia Ave. Suite A, Riverside, CA 92505 Ice Surface: 185 x 85 with rounded corners Eligibility: Skaters entering the competition must be registered individual or professional members of ISI as of March 11, 2018. Skaters may not participate without a current ISI membership. Competitors must skate at their highest test level registered with the ISI national office by March 11, 2018. Rules: The competition will be conducted in accordance with the guidelines contained in the 2016 ISI Handbook, with current ISI Competition Revisions. Schedule of Events: A schedule of events will be sent to each participating rink. Judging: All coaches must have current ISI Professional membership and judging certification (and update tests) that correlates to the level that they are volunteering to judge. All memberships and judging certifications will be verified through the ISI office. Coaches not confirmed eligible by April 1, 2018 and all coaches who are not certified will be charged $35.00 for a judge credential. Age Groups: Age groups will be determined by the number of entries in each category. Registration: A registration desk will be at the entrance to the ice arena on the day of the competition. All competitors must check in at the registration desk 45 minutes prior to their scheduled event. If the competition is running ahead of schedule, some events may begin up to 15 minutes early.

Music: CDs must be turned into the registration desk. Please make sure that CDs are clearly labeled with the skater s name and event. Only one song per CD. Don t forget to bring a back up CD for emergencies. Please pick up your music at the completion of your event. All music left at the end of the competition will be discarded after one week. Awards for individual, partner, and group events, the following team points will be given: 1 st Place: 5 points for placement + 1 participation point 2 nd Place: 4 points for placement + 1 participation point 3 rd Place: 3 points for placement + 1 participation point 4 th Place: 2 points for placement + 1 participation point 5 th Place: 1 point for placement + 1 participation point 6 th Place: 1 participation point Awards for Production, Pattern, Synchronized Teams, Kaleidoskate, and Team Compulsories, the following team points will be given: 1 st Place: 25 points for placement + 5 participation points 2 nd Place: 20 points for placement + 5 participation points 3 rd Place: 15 points for placement + 5 participation points 4 th Place: 10 points for placement + 5 participation points 5 th Place: 5 points for placement + 5 participation points The team that accumulates the most points will be declared the winner of the 2018 Orange Twist Open Competition. All individual awards will be given after the posting of the results of each event. Team awards will be given at the conclusion of the competition. Accounting Review: An ISI professional member can make accounting review requests to the Competition Director. Since all marks given by the judges are considered final, a review is simply a verification of the scores. Never, under any circumstances, are video tapes referred to for an event in question. A $50.00 fee will be charged for each review. If an error is found, the fee will be refunded.

Events Tot 1-4 Open to skaters ages 6 and under. Programs will be 1:00 minute in length and must include the required test maneuvers from their level. There is no extra content. Pre-Alpha Delta Pre-Alpha: Routines must include one additional maneuver from FS 1. Freestyle 1 10 FS 3 and 4: For the safety of all skaters, backward arabesques are not permitted during the warm-up. Open Freestyle Artistic Footwork Interpretive Rhythmic Stroking Please refer to the 2016 ISI Handbook for new test and competition revisions. Open to all skaters FS 1 and above. There are NO required moves. Emphasis should be placed on the creative and innovative design of the skating program. Strong edges, body positions, flow, music interpretation, rhythm, choreography, and artistry should be the focus of the program. There is no score for technical merit. Props are not permitted for this event. FS 1 3/Bronze: 1:30 minutes, maneuvers FS 4 and below FS 4 5/Silver: 1:30 minutes, maneuvers FS 6 and below FS 6 7/Gold: 2:00 minutes, maneuvers FS 8 and below FS 8 10/Platinum: 2:00 minutes, any maneuvers Music for all levels will be provided. Skaters may not be coached by instructors, parents, or anyone else during this event. Music will be played twice during warm-up. Maneuver limitations are: Tots Delta: 1:00 minutes, maneuvers FS 1 and below FS 1 3/Bronze: 1:30 minutes, maneuvers FS 4 and below FS 4 5/Silver: 1:30 minutes, maneuvers FS 6 and below FS 6 7/Gold: 2:00 minutes, maneuvers FS 8 and below FS 8 10/Platinum: 2:00 minutes, any maneuvers

Spotlight Solo Spotlight Character Solo: Individual portrays a famous, easily identifiable character through the use of music, costume, props (optional), and actions. Opportunity exists here for the skater to be creative, original, and exciting. (Examples: Pink Panther, Wonder Woman, Superman) Spotlight Dramatic Solo: An artistic theatrical performance by an individual skater that invokes an emotional response from the judges and audience. The skater s interpretation should create a mood that is enhanced by style, creativity, costuming, and props (optional). The overall impression at the conclusion of the performance should be that it was dramatic. Spotlight Light Entertainment Solo: To entertain in refreshing, light-hearted type fashion using music, costume, props (optional), comedy, dance, and skating moves. Maneuver limitations are: Tots Delta: 1:00 minutes, maneuvers FS 1 and below FS 1 3/Bronze: 1:30 minutes, maneuvers FS 4 and below FS 4 5/Silver: 1:30 minutes, maneuvers FS 6 and below FS 6 7/Gold: 2:00 minutes, maneuvers FS 8 and below FS 8 10/Platinum: 2:00 minutes, any maneuvers Spotlight Program Duration and Prop Specifications: Spotlight Couples Timing for all spotlight routines begins when any action starts, not to exceed 15 seconds after the music begins. The penalty grade of 2.0 will be given to the skater under the costume and prop score for exceeding the prop specifications. The penalty grade will be given for: * Altering the ice with substances such as shaving cream, whipped cream, etc. * Exceeding the 30 seconds allowed for set up. * Exceeding the 30 seconds allowed for leaving the ice. * Exceeding the size guidelines for props, such as skater not being able to hand carry, push or lift the prop onto the ice alone. (Entrances to the ice vary greatly from rink to rink - so plan your props accordingly.) Two skaters performing a routine together that is entertaining, emotional, or portrays a character using costumes and props (optional). This event is divided into groups Low, Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. The program duration and prop specifications listed above also apply. Maneuver limitations are: Spotlight Family Low: Tots Delta: 1:00 minutes, maneuvers FS 1 and below Bronze: FS 1 3: 1:30 minutes, maneuvers FS 4 and below Silver: FS 4 5: 1:30 minutes, maneuvers FS 6 and below Gold: FS 6 7: 2:00 minutes, maneuvers FS 8 and below Platinum: FS 8 10: 2:00 minutes, any maneuvers This event is open to two or more family members of any age and level. Program time is 1:30 minutes. The program duration and prop specifications listed above also apply.

Compulsory Moves Production Open to skaters of all levels. Each skater will perform three prescribed maneuvers from their test level. Maneuvers may be performed in any order, in a mini program with no music. A minimum amount of connecting steps will be allowed, however there is no grade given for these connecting moves. This is an opportunity to introduce the experience of a competition to the beginning skater. This event will be performed on full ice. This event is for eight or more skaters and is for your entire skating team, regardless of skating skill level. Music should be 3:00 4:30 minutes. The program should be a lavishly creative artistic work, marked by extreme freedom of style and structure. Costumes and props should illustrate the program. Any and all types of skating maneuvers are permitted. Teams have 30 seconds to enter and exit the ice surface. If 33 or more skaters are involved, the team will be listed as a Production Extravaganza. Jump & Spin Teams Synchronized Teams Team Compulsories This event is open to teams of Freestyle levels only. A skater may not skate below his/her test level registered at the ISI Headquarters Office. A skater may skate over his/her test level. Pre-Alpha - Delta skaters may participate in the team compulsory event. A team consists of 6 skaters, any age, male and/or female. Only one maneuver per skater can be performed. The teams will be divided into the following age groupings: Majority of skaters 20 and under Majority of skaters 21 and over Team Compulsories 6-10 require seven skaters.

Required Compulsory Moves There is no penalty for the quantity of swizzles, wiggles, strokes or crossovers performed in the Tot Beta levels; only the quality of the maneuver is judged. TOT 1 - Proper way to fall, proper way to get up, march while moving TOT 2 - Two foot jump, swizzle standing still, beginning two foot glide TOT 3 - Preparation for snowplow, dip, forward swizzle TOT 4 - Backward swizzle, backward wiggle, two foot or one foot snowplow PRE-ALPHA - Two-foot glide, one-foot glide (either foot), forward swizzles ALPHA - Forward stroking, right over left forward x-overs, one foot snowplow BETA - Right over left backward x-overs, backward stroking, right t-stop GAMMA - Right outside 3 turn, right mohawk combination, hockey stop DELTA - Right inside 3 turn, bunny hop, lunge FS 1 - Waltz jump, one-half flip, two-foot spin FS 2 - Ballet jump, one-foot spin, half lutz FS 3 - Salchow, change foot spin, backward pivot FS 4 - Flip jump, one-half loop jump, sit spin FS 5 - Fast back scratch, axel, camel spin FS 6 - Split falling leaf, layback, double salchow FS 7 - Double toe loop, flying camel, two walley jumps FS 8 - Double loop, split lutz, flying sit spin FS 9 - Double lutz, axel-double loop combination, flying camel into a jump sit spin FS 10 - Death drop, triple edge jump, four alternating axels
