The Flyers have previously appeared in the post-season tournament in 2000, 2008 and 2009. UD s only WNIT win came against Oakland on March 19, 2009, a 70-55 victory in Rochester, Mich. UD will play six teams this season that competed in the NCAA Tournament last year, all on the road or at neutral sites. 70 S THE MAGIC NUMBER Since the 2009-10 season, Dayton is 122-13 (.903) when scoring 70 or more points, including 10-2 in 2015-16. During the 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, the Flyers only lost one game per season when scoring at least 70 points, and dropped only two games in 2009-10 when reaching that mark. 2016-17... 1-0 2015-16... 10-2 2014-15... 24-2 2013-14... 19-4 2012-13... 21-1 2011-12... 13-1 2010-11... 15-1 2009-10... 19-2 TOTAL... 122-13 THREE POINTS OF EXCELLENCE Dayton has hit at least one three-point shot in 482 consecutive games dating back to Jan. 2, 2001, the longest streak in the Atlantic 10 Conference and one of the top streaks in the nation. The Flyers made a program-record 15 three-point field goals against Buffalo in the Connecticut World Vision Classic on Nov. 25, 2011. Dayton tied the record with 15 vs. Wright State on Nov. 28, 2012. SPEAKING OF THREES... Cincinnati native sophomore Lauren Cannatelli made a team-best 62 three-point baskets last season which is a new program record among Flyer freshmen. Former Flyer Justine Raterman sank 47 three-pointers her first year on the team (2008-09). Cannatelli s 36.0 three-point field-goal percentage (62-172) is the fifth-best average by a UD freshman. Additionally, Cannatelli s 62 made three-point baskets ranked tied for fifth all-time for treys made in a season. WE VE GOT AN AUDIENCE With a crowd of 10,159 at UD Arena for Dayton s last season opener against Yale on Nov. 13, the Flyers boasted the seventh-most attended game last season. The record crowd was due to the overwhelming success of UD s annual School Day game, a chance for local school-aged children to take a field trip with the Flyers. With a home attendance average of 2,890, Dayton ranked 39th out of 349 DI programs. This season s School Day game will be on Dec. 9 against Toledo at UD Arena. 2015-16 Final Atlantic 10 Standings Conference Overall W L Pct. W L Pct. 1. Duquesne 13 3.813 27 5.844 2. I am excited to introduce Shauna Green as the head women s basketball coach at the University of Dayton, Sullivan said. Shauna has been an important part of our women s basketball success since 2012 and she is well-positioned to continue the program s strong momentum. She believes in our values and has a deep commitment to the women on our team. She has coached many players on the roster, and is the right person to lead our women s basketball program. In her previous stint at Dayton from 2012-2015, Green contributed to the success of the Flyers and made an impact on the current state of the program. In 2012-13, Dayton won 28 games, tying the most wins in the modern era of the program. The Flyers followed that up in Green s final season, 2014-15, with another 28 wins, a sixth-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, and the program s first Regional Final. Two studentathletes from that team were drafted in the 2015 WNBA Draft Ally Malott to the Washington Mystics and Andrea Hoover to the Los Angeles Sparks. Hoover ranks fourth all-time on Dayton s scoring list while Malott ranks seventh. Atlantic 10 Champions: 2012, 2013, 2014 9 I am delighted to welcome Shauna back to the University, said President Eric Spina. After meeting with Shauna, it is clear to me that she truly cares about helping student-athletes succeed in all aspects of their UD experience both in the classroom and on the court. She has tremendous affinity for our University and is superbly prepared to lead this important program; she will absolutely continue our tradition of excellence in women s basketball. Green, who has previous head coaching experience at Loras College, returns to Dayton after spending last season at Northwestern as an assistant on Coach Joe McKeown s staff. With the Wildcats, Green helped guide the 2015-16 squad to the Big Ten Tournament Semifinals where the Wildcats fell to eventual conference champion Maryland. NU went on to earn a berth in the WNIT before falling to San Diego to end the season. In just one year at Northwestern, Green helped numerous student-athletes earn athletic and academic accolades. Junior guard Nia Coffey earned WBCA All-America and All-Region honors while eight Wildcats were named Academic All-Big Ten. Junior guard Ashley Deary was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and All-Defensive Team as well. I am absolutely thrilled to return as the Head Women s Basketball Coach at the University of Dayton, a place that is very special to my family and me, said Shauna Green. We could not be more excited for the opportunity to return to this outstanding University and the Dayton community. I am very grateful towards Dr. Spina and Neil for their confidence in me to continue to build on the tradition that Coach Jabir established at the University of Dayton. Green also has a previous coaching stint at Providence College. With the Friars, she served as recruiting coordinator which carried over to the same role at Dayton. Green was responsible for recruiting many of the current players on the Flyer team. Green signed a multi-year contract. A 2002 graduate of Canisius, Green received a degree in business marketing. She went on to earn a master s degree in physical education with an emphasis in athletic administration from Loras. Green and her husband, Andy, have one son, Matteo.
