Event information for Middle Distance 26 December, 2015 Event Programme Entry to Event Centre (Quarantine) 10:30 to 11:30 Start 12:00 to 13:30 Event closure 15:00 Prize Giving 15:30 Transportation to Event Centre Public Transport: a) Alight at Heng On Station by Ma On Shan Rail, MTR (Reference: www.mtr.com.hk); OR b) Alight at Heng On Estate / Yiu On Estate by Buses or Mini-Buses. (Reference: www.kmb.com.hk) Competitors must go along the Ma On Shan Tsuen Road to the Event Centre from the roundabout at the junction of Ma On Shan Road and Ma On Shan Tsuen Road. The distance is about 2,400m and a climb of 205m. It requires about 40 minutes on foot. There are limited car parking spaces available. Competitors may also take Resident bus no. NR84 from Sunshine City (On Luk Street) at Ma On Shan Station, to the direction of Ma On Sha Village. Please alight at the Barbecue Area at Ma On Shan Village. (GR KK 156806). Bus Fare: HK$5/person (Cash only, no Octopus payment and no changes) The morning bus schedule as follow: 8:00am, 9:30am, 10:30am (please let the residents of Ma On Shan Village aboard first) Taxi can be taken to event centre from Heng On Estate / Yiu On Estate: Fare for New territories Taxi: ~HK$30, Urban Taxi: ~HK$40 (it takes about 10 minutes travelling time by taxi)

Embargo Areas Terrain Information A moderately hilly area consisting of plateau, marshes, semi-open areas, open areas and woodland. There are areas with vegetation of slow run, walk and fight. Various rocky formations and stones are found on the slopes. There are some thorny weeds inside the undergrowth, and paths that might have been created temporarily by grazing cattle. Competitors coming from either Fanling or Sheung Shui must follow either the Jocky Club Road or San Wan Road to turn into Pik Fung Road. At the junction between Pik Fung Road and Ka Kiu Close, follow
posted event direction along Ka Kiu Close northwards to reach Fanling Public School. No parking available for competitors at Fanling Public School. Competition Information Map Scale 1:4000; 2m vertical interval ME course length 2.8 km, climb 20m WE course length 2.6 km, climb 20m Start interval 1 minute Start is about 650m from the Event Centre (Quarantine zone). It takes about 15 minutes to walk along marked route and competitors will need to cross 2 vehicle tracks. No water will be provided in the course Embargo Areas Terrain Information Urban Park with white forest surrounded with villages. These areas are connected with paved footpath network. Most of the areas have excellent runnabilty and visibility. Small paved footpaths with narrow gaps are found between the buildings. Except the crossings, competitors are forbidden to cross
vehicular carriageway and cycle track. These areas are mapped as out-of-bound areas ISSOM 709. Children play areas with rubber flooring are mapped as areas with forbidden access (forbidden to cross) ISSOM 528.1. Goal posts, basketball backstop and stands are mapped as prominent man-made features ISSOM 540. Shoes with metal studs are not allowed for the competition. Punching SPORTident punching system will be used for all the races with standard contact solution for all the races. The competitors will carry their assigned SI card. Each SI card is assigned to a specific competitor and should not be used by any other athlete. On each day, there will be spare SI cards on hand at the Event Centre in case a competitor has lost, misplaced or forgotten his/her card. Timing In all competitions the finish time will be measured when the competitor punches at the finish line. Times will be rounded down to 1 second and standard start procedure is to be used. Maps and Course Maps are drawn according to the International Specification for Orienteering Maps(ISOM 2000) and the International Specification for Sprint Orienteering Maps(ISSOM 2007). All maps are spot colour offset printed. Control descriptions are printed on the maps. Control Descriptions will be issued at -2 min Box of Start in the Middle and Sprint Event. Maps sealed in plastic bag will be issued at the start. Clothing For middle distance race, competitors must wear clothing that fully covers their torso and legs. There are no restrictions for sprint distance race.
Number Bibs All competitors must wear their respective number bibs at all competitions. The bibs will be available in event office for middle and sprint races. The size of number bibs is 19.5 cm x 16.5 cm. Quarantine and Pre-start Athletes and coaches must observe the check-in times for each AOC race. The latest check-in time to enter the quarantine is stated in the race details, and no one will be allowed into the quarantine area after that time. It will take 40-minute walk from the arena to quarantine zone in the middle distance race and 15-minute walk in the sprint distance race. Clothes may be transported from the pre-start area to the arena in the Middle Distance competition only. Start Start Procedures The competitor s name and bib number is called at the pre-start. The competitor then enters the first box when the clock shows his/her start time. It is the competitor s responsibility to watch for his/her start time. There is also a clock showing competition time in the pre-start area. Procedures for Late Start Late competitors must report to the pre-start call-up. The competitor will be allowed to proceed to the start line, accompanied where possible by a Late Start Official. Start Intervals The start interval will be 2 minute for Middle and 1 minute for Sprint Distances.
