Now is your chance. Scholls Heights will for the third year host student from Katoh School in Numazu, Japan. Katoh School is a highly respected private school in Japan with a two-way immersion program in Japanese and English. Although I don t know the exact details, all students coming will be 10 or 11 years old. They are scheduled to arrive Friday, October 23 and depart Sunday, November 1 st. Students will attend school with your child during the week and will participate in any or all of your family s activities. Since their trip always coincides with Halloween, it is usually a great time of the year to. If you are interested in hosting, please let me know. Hosting a student from another country is an enriching experience for the whole family. May 1st, 2015 On another note, as warmer weather approaches, it is a great time to review our dress code and safety standards at school. Children should not wear flipflops or backless shoes to school. Even though flip-flops are really hip now, they are not safe on the playground. Additionally, clothing should not be too short or so skimpy that it shows undergarments or midriffs. Halter-tops or Friday, 5/15 Art Show & Ice Cream Social 2014-2015 School Calendar on School
spaghetti straps are also inappropriate for school. Students can wear halter-tops or spaghetti straps if they were a t-shirt under the top or dress. Thank you so much for your assistance with the dress code. Additionally, we are seeing more issues with students bringing cell phones to school. We encourage students to not bring cell phones to school as they could be stolen, lost or damaged. Students have access to a phone if they really need to call you. Please note that we have an off and away policy during school hours. Some bus drivers allow students to listen to music with headphones and/or play games. However, taking pictures and/or making loud sounds with their cell phones are not appropriate and may lead to disciplinary action. We are doing our best at trying to keep up with the increased use of hand held devices. I think our next challenge may be the appropriate use of watches that do everything our phones do now. Phew!! It s sure a different world that our children are growing up in. Student Supply Orders for next year Believe it or not, it s already time to start thinking about next year s school supplies. Prepackaged school supplies can be ordered for your student and available for pick up at Meet Your Teacher on Thursday, September 3 rd.
