Overview Koach Allstars is excited to announce that we will have our first special needs team! This will be our 6th season open so we are excited for you and your athlete to be apart of Koach s first Special Needs Team! With this being our first season offering a special needs program, we hope to offer the an integrated experience and opportunity to special needs athletes with all disabilities and all ages to experience the sport of cheerleading in the Des Moines area! competitive cheerleading? Competitive cheerleading is a growing sport that targets all ages and experience levels. Combined with gymnastics, acrobatics, athletic dance, and many other elements, it is one of the most in demand sports around. Comprised of stamina, cardio, stunting, tumbling, jumps, and dancing skills, cheerleading offers a great spread of skills that all athletes can enjoy. Competitions teams divide by age and ability level. There are thousands of competitive cheerleading programs of all types across the country. Koach Allstars is becoming one of the leading cheer gyms in the metro and is nationally known due to our success in the last 5 years. Year 6 is projected to be the best year yet. Competitive cheerleading is a great way for athletes to learn new skills while building teamwork, goal-setting,sportsmanship, and numerous other social skills while making lifelong friendships. Exceptional Athletes is the new division for the 2018-2019 season, formally known as the Special Needs Teams.
Goals Why choose to be apart of Koach s Exceptional Athletes Team? We hope to help your athlete reach the following goals: Great way to socialize and meet new friends and their family Be apart of a team in a positive environment Build self esteem, develop motivation, work ethic and passion for the sport of cheerleading Accomplish cheerleading skill based goals Practice skills including dancing, formations, tumbling, basic stunting, and other exercises in a fun and different way Exceptional Athlete Team Divisions are governed by the United States All Star Federation (USASF), which defines the special needs athlete as the following: Intellectual disability: 1. A condition characterized by impairment of skills and overall intelligence in areas such as cognition, language, and motor and social abilities as identified by an agency or professional. 2. A cognitive delay, as determined by standardized measures such as intelligent quotient testing or other measures that are generally accepted within the professional community. At Koach, our team is open to special needs children and young adults of all ages in the Des Moines area with any type of disability. We have a ramp for all types of wheelchairs for full access of our cheerleading floor.
Practices We will have 1 practice per week. We are planning on Sunday s 1-2pm Practices might be extended or practices might be added when competition season starts to ensure that our teams are ready. This is up to the discretion of the coaches and we will do our best to let you know ASAP and keep you up to date. Please make sure to have your athlete there at least 10 minutes before practice FULLY READY (hair up, shoes and practice clothes on) to practice and pick up your athlete on time from practices. Absences We try our best to work with families regarding absences, however this is a team sport and it will be required that you are at all practices. Since we will only practice once a week it is best for your athlete to attend! Billing It is required that all Koach Allstars members use iclasspro. You must have a credit card or debit card on file to participate with Koach Allstars. All payments will be made through this online system. Payment will be taken out on the date of scheduled due dates. Late fees and penalties will be issued for any card that is declined for whatever reason. Cards will continue to be ran until payment is received. NO CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED for monthly fees. Monthly tuition will be withdrawn on the 1st of every month. If the 1st lies on a weekend or holiday, payment will be ran the next business day. If unable to make a payment; there will be a meeting and athlete could be dismissed from class/team.
The koach way When you are in the Koach uniform you are representing Koach Allstars. Please be mindful of representing Koach Allstars to the best of your ability in and out of Koach apparel, and at competitions. This goes for parents as well. Please respect coaches, athletes, and athletes parents at all times in and out of the gym. Negative talk by parent or athlete about other parents or athletes WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. PARENT VIEWING AREA MAY BE CLOSED AT TIMES At Koach, we consider our parent viewing area a privilege. If any type of negativity comes from the parent viewing area, the parent viewing area will no longer be available. This is to ensure the best environment for especially athletes, but other Koach parents as well. Social media is great for Koach Allstars but we ask that parents and athletes are respectful with pictures and posts regarding Koach Allstars. This is a family based cheerleading gym and we hope to have our parents and athletes reflect upon our vision and image online as well. We love seeing posts the day of the competition promoting our teams and getting our Koach family excited about the day. Please use the hashtag #thekoachway in your posts for all to see and find when searching Koach Allstars! We pride ourselves on TheKoachWay and hope to maintain our high class standards day in and day out! Practice Wear, Uniforms & warmups Practice T Shirt: Uniform: will be T shirt and shorts Warmups: Optional Shoes: Braces/AFO s of any color are permitted
What to wear All Koach Athletes need to wear the following to EVERY competition: Uniform (Tshirt and shorts) Bow (Girls) Cheer Shoes (White Shoes - we will have shoes for purchase) Warm Ups (Optional) Please only wear your cheer shoes, no Ugg Boots or flip flops with your cheer uniform/warm ups. No jewelry will be allowed when in uniform. Per competition rules, there can be no jewelry in during the performances, please plan accordingly! If it is a new piercing, it will have to come out regardless. No taping, or plugs allowed. No nail polish or acrylic nails will be allowed at competitions. Please make sure nailpolish is off, and nails are trimmed down. Awards: REQUIRED THAT ALL ATHLETES HAVE THEIR FULL UNIFORM ON for awards. Bow in, shoes on. NO WARM UPS as we will take team pictures at each awards and we want to represent KOACH as superior athletes and a well-represented look for our gym. No phones at awards. Put them away until after! Pro shop Koach Allstars makes our own apparel! Our pro shop, equipment, and experience is all growing so we appreciate you guys working with us to make Koach the best possible! Due to us making our own apparel, there are no outside vendors that are approved to use our logo, which means you cannot get apparel done outside of Koach Allstars or use our logo without permission. Using our logo without our permission or knowledge is ILLEGAL! This includes: Stickers, Luggage tags, Printing our logo or the words KOACH in any way, shape, or form. If you want apparel done, please make sure you fill out our new pro shop form or email info@koachallstars.com for more questions and information!
Make up/hair We would like all hair to be pulled back and away from their face A bow will be given if athlete is able to wear bow. Bow will be high on the top of head. We will have a team color lipstick we encourage athlete to wear. If athlete would like to participate in the full face makeup, we will have a video tutorial available.
