Adult Indr Sccer League Rules All rules in the adult league shall be gverned under the current Official Rules f Indr Sccer, published by the United States Indr Sccer Assciatin unless therwise addressed belw. General Gd sprtsmanship is expected f everyne invlved in this prgram. Anyne wh des nt demnstrate prper sprtsmanship t the satisfactin f either the referee r BGCA staff may be asked t leave the facility. Abslutely n alchl, smking, r tbacc prducts n the BGCA Campus. Gum is NOT allwed inside BGCA buildings and n fd r drinks are allwed inside the playing area. ONLY Water is allwed in the player s bx. Prtests must be filed with the BGCA Athletic Department in writing within 24 hurs f the game s cmpletin and must directly relate t a rules vilatin. An fficial s judgment call is nt grunds fr a prtest. Equipment Regulatins The BGCA will prvide all practice, warm-up and game balls ball size 5. Players may nt carry r wear any bject that may be ptentially injurius t ther players. This includes and is nt limited t piercings, necklaces, watches, bracelets, etc. N brace, cast, r hard type material n the leg, elbw, r frearm. Any item(s) nt remved by game time that can be shall be cnsidered in vilatin and will result in a yellw card. Nn remvable jewelry will be allwed at players liability. All players must wear shin guards (2) that are cmpletely cvered by scks, indr sccer shes r clean tennis shes, and matching clred jerseys except the Galkeeper wh must have a different clr jersey frm either team. NO CLEATS are permitted n the turf. The BGCA requires that the hme team wear a white r light clred jersey and the away team wear a dark clr. N camuflage r tie-dye jerseys. Game Time Game time cnsists f tw 22-minute halves with a 2-minute halftime. Guaranteed warm up time shall be n less than 5 minutes. The Referee The referee cntrls all sccer activity and his/her decisin is final.
The referee has cmplete jurisdictin frm the time he/she enters the field t when the teams leave the playing area. The referee has the right t call penalties befre, during, r after the game, even when play is stpped. The referee is respnsible fr all judgment calls. The referee has unlimited authrity t stp the game fr any breach f the rules r unruly disturbances. The referee is empwered t call a 2-minute injury timeut fr an injured player. The referee will be respnsible fr the fficial game clck and keeping an accurate scre displayed. Fuls A team cmmitting 6 fuls in ne half will result in a 2 minute penalty. Any player n the field may serve this penalty. Each ful thereafter will result in an additinal 2 minute penalty. Team fuls will reset fr each half. Blue Card Player must sit in the penalty bx fr 2 minutes r until a gal is scred by the ppsing team, whichever cmes first. (1 pint) Yellw Card - 1 player dwn fr 2 minutes. The player must sit in the penalty bx fr the entire 2 minutes. (2 pints) Red Card - 1 player dwn fr 5 minutes. The carded player is ejected frm the remainder f the game and must leave the BGCA campus. This player s sub will serve the 5 minute penalty. (5 pints) Blue, Yellw r Red cards received utside f team fuls will be tracked fr each seasn. A Blue card is 1 pint, Yellw is 2 pints and Red is 5 pints. If a player accumulates 5 pints, they will serve a 1 game suspensin. If a player accumulates 10 pints, they will be suspended the equivalent f half f the seasn. The Bys & Girls Club f Albany reserves the rights t have these pints carry ver int a subsequent seasn depending n the nature f the cards received. (i.e. cards received during playffs) In the event that a galkeeper receives a red r yellw card, he/she must serve the penalty himself/herself. The team will have t substitute him/her with an n-field player fr the penalty duratin. The BGCA Athletic Department reserves the right t reduce/impse additinal suspensins fr miscnduct f any nature. Vilatins NO BOARDING! Barding is when a player pushes anther player in t the bards/walls surrunding the field (this als applies t shulder-t-shulder tackles). This is extremely dangerus and will nt be tlerated the player wh cmmitted the ffense will receive a yellw card. NO SLIDING r SLIDE TACKLES! There is n sliding allwed players must remain n their feet at all times. Any slide when making a tackle is cnsidered a slide tackle this includes an unintentinal slide (i.e. if a player slips) that results in a slide tackle. In additin t a typical slide tackle, it will als be cnsidered such if a player has ne knee n the grund and the ther leg straight ut.
NO BICYCLE KICKS! A yellw card will be assessed fr bicycle kicks perfrmed near anther player(s), while a blue card will be given fr bicycle kicks that are perfrmed away frm thers. Prximity determinatin will be at the referee s discretin. A player cannt play the ball frm the grund (i.e. when cmpletely ff their feet). The galkeeper may nt punt r drp kick the ball free kick awarded t ppsing team n the red dt at the tp f the gal bx if perfrmed. The BGCA encurages prper thrwing technique t reduce the ptential fr injury. Free Kicks ALL free kicks and spt kicks are direct, regardless f the lcatin n the field (player taking the free kick cannt play the ball again until smene else tuches the ball including shts ff the wall). A free kick awarded n a yellw line r a dt the referee must signal the restart with the whistle befre the ball can be played (this will be dne quickly, within reasn). At this time, the defending players must be back 5 yards withut being asked (except n a crner kick the white gal bx line is sufficient). Failing t yield 5 yards will result in a blue card fr the first ffense and a yellw card fr each subsequent vilatin. A free kick anywhere else n the field may be taken immediately withut a signal frm the referee, prvided the ball is statinary and in clse prximity t the ful and/r ffense. The team awarded the free kick may ask fr 5 yards if they wish, in which case the referee will step if ff and signal the restart befre the ball can be played. A free kick must be played within 6 secnds r the ppsing team will be awarded the ball. Substitutin Rules Unlimited number f substitutins as fllws: during play, a player must be within 3 feet f his/her bench dr r ff the field befre a substitute player can enter. Bench dr is t remain clsed until player is within 3 feet. There may nly be a galkeeper substitutin n a dead ball and the referee must be ntified. Jumping ver the bards in r ut f the player s bx will result in an autmatic yellw card. Cmpetitin Rules Minimum f 8 players per rster with a maximum f 12. Rsters greater than 12 require apprval frm the BGCA Athletic Directr. Game frmat is 6v6, with 6 players per side (field players + gal keeper). Players may play fr nly 1 team per divisin and a team must field a minimum f 4 players at all times r they will unintentinally frfeit the match. Teams may nly field players n their submitted rster. An allwed exceptin is in the case f an unintentinal frfeit whereby a team may add anther player frm within the same divisin (r frm the drp-in pl f waiver-signed players) in rder t play/cntinue the match as a scrimmage. If a team intentinally frfeits a game, they must leave the playing area immediately. The ppsing team may use the remaining alltted field time fr practice r inter-squad scrimmage.
In the event a team des nt have 4 players at the start f a game, they have a grace perid until an unintentinal frfeit takes effect. The game clck will start n time. If they s chse, the ppsing team is awarded 1 gal every 2 minutes. At 10 minutes the frfeit is fficial and the final scre remains 4-0. If the shrthanded team gets enugh players t start during the first 10 minutes, play will begin with the scre as it stands at that time. If a team has less than 4 players n the field at any time due t penalty cards the match becmes an unintentinal frfeit. At n pint will the scre differential be higher than 10 pints. Meaning, n team can either win by mre than 10 pints r ever be ahead by mre than 10 pints. If a team is ahead by 10 pints and scres again, the pint will nt be added t the screbard, all ther game actins will remain the same hwever, i.e. kickff. If at any pint in the match a team has a lead f 5 gals r mre the ppsing team may add an additinal player f either gender t the field. This additinal player nly remains when the scre differential is 5 r greater and must ntify the referee befre entering nt the field nly applies t Recreatinal Leagues. N individual player may scre mre than 3 gals per game nly applies t Ced and Recreatinal Leagues. N substitute players are permitted during playffs. A final rster may be submitted t the athletic department n later the secnd week f play. All changes after that time must have apprval frm the Athletic Directr. Ced Rules Ced teams must always field at least 2 female field players, 1 male field player, and 1 galkeeper f either gender. Male players may nly substitute fr female players s lng as at least 2 female players remain n the field. Likewise, females may substitute fr males s lng as at least 1 male remains n the field. In this cntext, the galkeeper is nt cnsidered a field player. Wmen take all free kicks, including kickffs. Any charges arund the bards will be cnsidered barding. Free kick will be awarded a time penalty will als be impsed. Intimidatin Rule: If the referee feels that a player attempts t threaten r intimidate a player thrugh aggressive r frceful play, a ful will be called and a direct free kick will be awarded. A 2 minute penalty MAY be awarded. This includes: High/Hard kicks: any kicks (r galkeeper thrws) taken with excessive frce in the directin f a player and/r which rises abve waist level in relatin t the ther player. The ball need nt make cntact with the player in questin fr a ful t be called. If a player is standing in the galies crease (the small bx in frnt f the gal) then there will be n intimidatin call against the ppsing player. Physical r verbal intimidatin which takes advantage f gender differences. If a player is deemed t be verplaying (playing aggressively against anther player), a free kick r blue card may be awarded.
Miscellaneus All spectatrs must remain in the bleacher area during the game. N spectatr is allwed near either gal r players bxes. Only players and caches are allwed in the players bxes. Teams playing 2 players shrt are nt penalized by the 3 line rule. NO SPITTING! Any player wh spits n the turf will receive a blue card, fllwed by a yellw card n their secnd ffense. Players can spit in the trash cans in the player bxes if necessary. Any player, cach, r spectatr guilty f insulting r ffensive cmments r gestures will be asked t leave the facility. LANGUAGE! If a player is heard using ffensive language either a blue r yellw card will be given based n the severity f usage. If the inapprpriate language is directed at smene, a yellw card will be given with the pssibility f a red card. Players must be 18 years r lder t play in any f the Adult Indr Sccer Leagues. Any player fund t be under 18 will cause a frfeit fr each game they participated in. Either the referee r the field supervisr may request ID f a player at any time t verify age and/r identity. All players, caches, and referees are bligated t be knwledgeable f the BGCA Indr Sccer Rules. Any cuts r pen wunds must be bandaged befre entering the field f play. Any player with an pen wund must leave the field and may nt re-enter until his/her wund is sufficiently bandaged. Bld n any persn r persn s clthing must be remved befre a player may be allwed n the field. Games will be recrded and further disciplinary actin taking as a result f the vide review. Any player, cach, r spectatr that enters the field unapprved will result in a yellw card t the ffending team. Advantage Rule: will NOT be applied. Free kick r restart will ccur at spt f ful.
