OKAIGAN KARATE DOJO SENSEI MARY CRAWFORD Dear Athlete, Sensei, and Official, It is my pleasure to extend my personal invitation for you to attend and participate in the Okaigan Dojo, Northern California Invitational tournament. The tournament will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale, California. We will also have a 2nd tournament on Sunday May 5th hosted by AJKL also at Fremont High School, Sunnyvale, CA Two opportunities to compete and two days of officiating (practice, practice, practice). This will be a great tournament with many National and International USA Jr and Senior Team members. The tournament will begin at 9:00 AM. There will be an official's meeting at 8:30 am. All entries MUST be covered by personal medical insurance to compete. We welcome and appreciate all officials! Attire for referees and judges will be gray slacks, blue blazer, white shirt, black shoes, black or dark blue socks, and blue tie. Acknowledge and fully understand that each participant will be engaging in activities that involve risk of serious injury, including permanent disability and death, and severe social and economic losses, which might result not only from their own actions, inaction s or negligence but the actions, inaction's or negligence of others, the rules of play, or the condition of the premises or of any equipment used. Further, that there may be other risks not known to us or not reasonably foreseeable at this time. Assume all the foregoing risks and accept personal responsibility for the damages following such injury, permanent disability or death. 3. Release, waive, discharge and covenant not to sue The Sports, Fitness & Karate Inc., dba Okaigan Dojo, The USA National Karate-do Federation, Fremont High School, its officers, its affiliated clubs, regional sports organizations, their respective administrators, directors. Agents, coaches and other employees of the organization, other participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, and if applicable, owners and lessees of premises used to conduct the event, all of which are hereinafter referred to as releases from any and all liability to each of the undersigned, his or her heirs and next of kin for any and all claims, demands, losses or damages on account of injury including death or damage to property, caused or alleged to be caused in whole or in part by the negligence of the release or otherwise. 4. All entries are final, no refunds will be given. I fully understand that any medical treatment given will be of first aid treatment type only. I consent that any pictures furnished by me or any pictures taken of me 'in connection with the Tournament can be used for publicity, promotion or television showing now or in the future, and I waive compensation in regard thereto. NORTHERN CALIFORNIA INVITATIONAL KARATE TOURNAMENT Division List Junior Performance-Ages 4-5 KIHON Students will enter the ring and compete side by side The Chief referee will announce the student s techniques and count. Students will be required to demonstrate stationary punch (alternating 5x), stationary rising blocks (alternating 5x), and stationary front snap kicks (alternating 5x). Junior Performance-Ages 4-5 KATA These students may know all of their kata or just a portion of their kata. The chief referee will not count for the students. Junior Performance-Ages 4-5 KUMITE (All juniors must wear a mouthguard even if they have a helmet) These students will compete for 1 minute and the match max is 6 points. Every student in the Jr Performance division will receive a medal or trophy White Belt-White Belts and/or less than 4 months experience Beginner 8th Kyu & under; less than 1 year of training Novice 7th Kyu - 5th Kyu; 1 2 years of training Intermediate 4th Kyu - 2nd Kyu; 2 4 years of training Advanced 1st Kyu & higher; 4 + years of training Elite Recommended rank of 1st Dan or higher and 5+ years of training Depending on number of entrants, tournament size and other factors, we reserve the right to split or combine divisions based on age, skill and gender.
