January 5, 2018 St. Barnabas Catholic School Through our Catholic Faith, GROWING IN MIND, Growing HEART, in AND Mind, SPIRIT Heart, TO and BECOME spirit LEADERS IN THE WORLD Calendar January 15 No School Martin Luther King Jr. Day January 27 6:30 pm, 8th Annual Dinner For Warriors See Page 3 for details Dear Warrior Families: Happy New Year! We are happy to be back starting a new semester! There is so much to learn and we have some awesome blocks of time to accomplish our goals. With the cold weather, a few reminders about closings, delays, recess, etc. Closings and Delays: St. Barnabas School is its own entity, and we do not necessarily follow any other school or district with regards to closings and delays. The reason for this is that we are unique in that we do not have buses to warm up nor do we have a parking lot full of young drivers. Therefore, when trying to determine whether or not we are in session, please watch for notifications from St. Barnabas School. If St. Barnabas School is having a delay or closing, Mrs. Maddox will first send out a notification via Jupiter. She will send both a text message and an e-mail notification. Please be sure you check your Jupiter account. Is everything accurate? Are you set up to receive text messages? If you need help, please contact Mr. Ryan Schnarr at rschnarr@stbindy.org. After sending a Jupiter notification, Mrs. Maddox will put a notification on our website on the front home page. Next, the local news stations will be notified. Your child s safety is our number one concern. If you determine it is not safe for you or a loved one to transport your child, please make the decision for your family and do not take unnecessary risks. Recess: We decide whether or not to go out to recess based on the wind chill or what it feels like outside. If the wind chill drops below 20, we will keep students inside. We DO like to get students outside whenever we can. Please be mindful of what your students are wearing and what gear they have for recess. If there is a chance they may go outside, please be sure they have gloves/mittens, a hat, and a warm coat. Sweatshirts are really not sufficient for the coldest recess days. Because we will be having several indoor recess days, teachers may have special requests. Please be on the lookout. Thank you, Mrs. Maddox & Mr. Schnarr, Proud Principals God of creation, thank you for the beauty of winter- for snow, icy window panes, evergreen trees, warm coats, sledding, and hot cocoa. Let us enjoy Your creation in all its glory, this winter and always. Author Unknown
