THE WOLF ON BLAKE STREET Saturday night, Jon Gray pitched the first completegame shutout of his career, the second for the Rockies this month (also: Chad Bettis, Sept. 5 vs. San Francisco)... this is the third season in Rockies history in which they have recorded two completegame shutouts in one season (last: Jeff Francis and Jason Jennings, 2006). Struck out six consecutive batters between the second and third innings, a franchise record for one game. Struck out four batters in the second inning after a batter reached on a passed ball strikeout... it was the third time in franchise history that the Rockies have struck out four in one inning, the second time that it was accomplished by one pitcher (also: Bruce Ruffin, July 25, 1996 vs. Chicago-NL). Recorded his 200th career strikeout for the second out of the second inning, putting him at 192.0 career innings pitched upon reaching the milestone... is the second Rockies pitcher to reach 200 career strikeouts in fewer than 200 career innings pitched (also: Rex Brothers, 163.1 innings pitched). COORS CENTURY With his 100th hit at home on the season Sept. 7, DJ LeMahieu became the second Rockies second baseman in franchise history to record at least 100 hits at home in a single season (also: Eric Young, 127 in 1996). PYTHAGOREAN MADNESS Colorado is the only team in MLB with a positive run differential (+14) and a losing record (72-77). LOOKING DOWN Nolan Arenado is first in the National League with 38 home runs and tops MLB with 123 RBI. Scored his 100th run of the season Sept. 2, becoming the first Rockies player since Carlos Gonzales in 2010 (111 runs, 117 RBI) to record 100 or more runs and RBI in the same season. WE VE GOT ROOM FOR YOU German Marquez and Jordan Patterson both made their Major League debuts Sept. 8 at San Diego Marquez pitched 2.1 innings and allowed three runs on two hits with three walks and two strikeouts Patterson entered the game as a defensive replacement in right field and drew a walk in his first career plate appearance. It was the seventh game in Rockies history in which multiple players made their Major League debut (last: Sept. 11, 2011, Tommy Field and Drew Pomeranz). A total of 12 players have made their Major League debut for the Rockies this season, tied for the most in franchise history (also: 2014) Tyler Anderson, Matt Carasiti, Stephen Cardullo, David Dahl, Carlos Estevez, Jeff Hoffman, German Marquez, Jordan Patterson, Tony Wolters, Trevor Story, Raimel Tapia and Pat Valaika have all debuted this season. Eight Rockies players have collected their first career MLB hit this season, one short of the franchise record of nine, done five times (1995, 2005, 2011, 2012, 2014). OKAY WITH LOSING SOME INDEPENDENCE Stephen Cardullo, who turned 29 on Aug. 31, hit his first career home run in the first game of the doubleheader, his fourth career Major League game. In the second game, hit his first career grand slam per Elias, became the second player in MLB history to hit his first two career home runs on his birthday (also: Angel Pagan, July 2, 2006 vs. Chicago-AL). AUGUST AND EVERYTHING AFTER Nolan Arenado finished the month of August with a Major League-leading 36 RBI that is tied with Todd Helton (May 2001) for the third-most RBI in any single month in franchise history (most: 40, Troy Tulowitzki, Sept. 2010). Charlie Blackmon led the National League and ranked tied for second in MLB with 11 home runs in August that is one short of the Rockies franchise record of 12 home runs in the month of August (Dante Bichette in 1995, Andres Galarraga in 1996). DJ LeMahieu finished August with a.439 (43-for-98) batting average, which led the Major Leagues. The Rockies are the first team to have three separate players lead the National League in each of the three Triple Crown categories for a single month since the Dodgers accomplished the feat in Sept. of 2014. A Rockies player also led the league in runs (Blackmon, 30) and on-base percentage (LeMahieu,.535) the last time a team had individual players lead the five offensive categories that Rockies players held in August, not including ties, was the Cincinnati Reds in 1991. MANY MANY The 2016 season marks the first in which two Rockies players have had five or more multi-homer games in a single season both Nolan Arenado and Charlie Blackmon have five, tying for second in the Majors this year and tying for eighth all-time in franchise history for a single season. BIG FISH According to STATS, DJ LeMahieu is one of five Rockies to hit 10 or more home runs in a season while playing second base joins Clint Barmes (22, 2009), Jose Ortiz (13, 2001), Mike Lansing (12, 1998, 11, 2000) and Todd Walker (12, 2001). 20TH & BLAKE The Sports Authority ticket back discount may be redeemed at Colorado Rockies Dugout Stores for a discount of $10 on any purchase of $50 or more: www.rockies.com/dugout stores Sept. 19: Purple Monday Rockies Winter Beanie / Rockies Rewards...
