Director Comments June 2017 Lilac City Riders, Chapter "G" Goldwing Touring Association Spokane, WA 99212 June 2017 Newsletter Upcoming Event 3 Meeting 7 Dinner Ride 9-11 Rest Area 17 Movie Night 22-25 State Rally June Birthdays This is about never giving up hope. Everything usually works out for the best in the long haul. A year and a half ago several of us went to the Portland Swap Meet. We had a great time. After being home for a while I noticed a wadded up jacket in the back seat. I knew who the jacket belonged to; it just never seemed to get home. After a year I brought it in the house and hung it up thinking now I won t forget to get it back to its owner. That took another six months. Finally, we were going to a function where your jacket could be returned and if some reason you did not attend we gave the jacket to friends that were going to see you the next day. Wally, you finely got your jacket back. I do not know if you though it was gone forever or not. Just took a long time to get it back to you. This gets back to how I feel about GWTA National. Whatever happens to the National Organization if it recovers, fine, if not, that is also fine. We in Chapter G are going to get along just great. Just like the long wayward jacket of Wally s. 6 Melanie Green 18 Cookie Yocom June Anniversaries 27 Mitch & Sheri Williams We ve had a couple of fun functions. If for some reason you were not able to attend, we missed you. The dinner ride home was spectacular after a great pizza. The potluck and game night turned out to be a very nice night for those in attendance. We had Carol from the church that was kind enough to let us in while Ernie is recovering. She stayed for dinner and a few rounds of Bunco. Just today we were at Joe and Carol s home to work on the state rally decorations. That turned out to be a very productive day. Carol had a lunch all prepared for us. Built up our energy and got lots of work out of us. We are very far along with our decorations. Karen Nelson brought Hawaiian Chicken for us to sample and taste. It was decided that this was
going to be the dish Chapter G will provide for the common dinner at the State Rally. That will be indoors and under one roof. This is going to take the place of the campground grazing. Our next big event will be the Memorial Day campout at the H2H Bison Ranch. For those who want to travel together meet at the Post Falls East bound I-90 rest area at 12 pm. Each couple should bring a pizza ready to bake and share for the Friday night meal. Saturday night meal, bring your own meat to prepare and a side dish, salad or dessert to share with the group. Games that are planned for the State Rally will be practiced while we are camping. Both riding and non-riding games. Plan to come and have a great weekend with us. Dennis and Dorothy May 6th Minutes Meeting opened with Pledge of Allegiance. Guests included: Julie & Steve Crowley and Frances & Bill Jamison. Treasurers report sent via email. Our Safety Officer was not at the meeting but sent a copy of 50 ways to keep safe and save your life when riding a motorcycle. Fliers from different motorcycle clubs at the front table. Good dinner at the Embers Restaurant on Hauser Lake. Mary had a deer run into her car. Dennis said that the breakfast ride to Plummer, Idaho, was a good one. Had breakfast and then went on a ride. Work shop meeting at the Henscheid home May 17 th at noon. A map will be sent to those who do not know how to get there. A light lunch will be served. Memorial Campout is at the H2H Bison Ranch May 26-29, 2017. Dorothy is planning a State Rally game practice during the campout. It is going to be fun filled. At the campout Friday night will be a pizza dinner. Antoinette passed out free Papa Murphy coupons to some members who are attending the campout. Saturday s dinner will be steak. The next dinner ride will be to Barlow s Restaurant in Liberty Lake, WA. Charlie Wisowaty will lead the ride. The Rest stop is June 9-11 th. There are some slots that need to be filled. 50% of the proceeds will go to charity, and 50% to the Chapter. Movie night will be June 17 th. Where is to be determined. Discussion as to when some motorcycles and RVs will be leaving for the Rally. On the web site is the July ride. It will be 4 days and 3 nights. Labor Day Campout not set at this time. Officers meeting at Gold Rush in July. Bruce is stepping down. Region A directors are stepping down, and Cameron Gilit is stepping down. She is trying to get new someone to step up and be State director. Cameron is the one to contact to get National to get things straight for one s personal injuries. Terry Burns game was called rings. How many rings does a Hyundai have? How many rings are in the Olympic games symbol? What are their colors? No one guessed all the questions. So Terry got the free Golden Corral breakfast. It was decided to drop the Historian category from the Lilac City Rider Staff list. The only time anyone looks at the picture albums is during the Motorcycle Show and Sale. Terry Burns resigned as Entertainment coordinator. He will help out. The albums will be in the Chapter Trailer. Bob Morgan requested we change the meeting date from Saturday to back to Sunday. Per the discussion it is not so easy to change the day. This is tabled until the June meeting.
Bob Watson was hit by a deer while riding his motorcycle. He said he leaned into the direction of the animal. He is fine, didn t go down, just straighten up, but the bike had some damage. Helen Morgan mentioned they had an experience with a deer some years ago. Carly Wintz and Lyle Polack names where called for the colors drawing. Neither were present. The amount for the drawing at the June meeting is now $60.00. Terry Burns gave up the free breakfast. Helen Morgan s name was drawn. There were 5 white elephant give away. The winners of the 50/25/25 ate Bob Watson and Peggy Burns. Each received $16.75 and the club got $33.50. Respectfully submitted by: Antoinette Wisowaty for Tricia Stevens Ernie and Cookie s new trike conversion. The conversion is Motor Trike Prowler or Reverse Trike. The conversion was done by Island Trikes out of Forest Grove, Oregon. We have had it out a few times and love it. Ernie just finished a 2-day Ride Education Class for Trikes and we are ready to ride! The trike does not live on the trailer. That was just used to haul it home.
Guess Who??? If you know who the person is pictured in the next column, please tell Carol Henscheid at the next meeting. You could win five 50/50 tickets. You must be at the meeting in order to win.
