CHAPTER DIRECTORS JOE & JACKIE WOODMANSEE Chapter B has had a very busy June with the following: A Ride to The Ohio Veterans Memorial in Clinton, OH. Randy and Linda Porter did an excellent job planning and leading the ride. Good Job. June 14, 15 and 16 was the Buckeye Rally in Xenia and I think Greene County is a great community. Jackie and I had a good time and we spoke with some locals that enjoyed having us. On June 23, Chapter B participated in Richland County Relay For Life selling 50/50 tickets and taking in about $950.00 that was split between the winner and the event. We had 19 bikes/trikes show up and the weather was fabulous. We had a great time and we hope to be invited back next year. Thanks to everyone for their support and participation. Up next is Wing ding in Ft. Wayne, IN. I am glad to hear a number of our newer members are planning on going at least for a day or two. Lots of other events in July to look forward to. July 15 th is our chapter gathering followed by our $5.00 picnic ride after the meeting (always a fun time). Also in July, we have the Shiloh Ox Roast to WORK on Friday evening and the Shiloh Parade on Saturday. July 29 is the Wooster Teddy Bear Ride. Come join the fun. Joe and Jackie Woodmansee Chapter B Pending Chapter Directors "B" Part of the Journey I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND TO THE REPUBLIC, FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD, INDIVISIBLE, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL! Ww WOW HAPPY 4 TH OF JULY 2

MEMBERSHIP ENHANCEMENT TODD & LAURA JOHNSON HAPPY 4 th OF JULY Thank you old and new veterans, without the help of our fore fathers we would be a much different nation than we are today, thank you. And the help of the new veterans that are helping us to stay a great Nation, thank you!!! Yes, can you believe it is July already, I can't, I am going to have to start thinking about Christmas, after all don't they have Christmas sales in July? But, for now, think of all those good summer rides we can go on, and what better way to ride than with a friend, thanks to GWRRA you can have lots of friends to ride with. Now don't you want to renew your membership? Sure you do, you don't have to wait until you get something in the mail just call the number on the back of your card, they will be glad to do that for you. When you are out and you see some one that might be interested about joining GWRRA, it is nice to have a flyer to give them but if you don't give them the number on the back of your card, don't let another opportunity pass you by to ask another friend to join the ride. Happy 4th. Todd &Laura RIDE COORDINATORS-GENE & KATHY HANSELMAN Fellow Riders, The ride to Ohio Veterans Memorial Park in Clinton, Ohio was tremendous. It was a wonderful day, beautiful weather and excellent Ohio countryside for riding. There were 22 members on 12 cycles from Chapter B that visited this humble and sacred setting in Northeast Ohio. The 125 foot long black granite wall is engraved with the names of 3,095 Ohio military personal that made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of this country. Soon the names will include those after the Vietnam era up to the current Afghanistan Theater and the War On Terrorism. Etched Pavers donated by individuals, organizations, companies and institutions to honor the fallen, form the walk ways within the perimeter. There is a Cobra AH-1F Helicopter on display and engraved on the back of the wall is the histories of every war that Ohio has been involved, beginning with the War Of 1812. Many events and activities are planned to increase the funding for this solemn venue as well as plans to add a cemetery, more antiquities and old war machines. The park has been built with private donations and is not funded by the State of Ohio. We must do our part to insure Our Fallen Heroes Are Never Forgotten. Please visit their web site for more information: http://www.ovmp.org/home.htm On the way home we stopped at Milich's Village Inn near Barberton. Their speciality is Chicken, Fish and Ham. Later the group made an ice cream stop in Smithville before continuing home. A very special thanks to 3

Randy and Linda Porter for planning the Ride, the route and leading us there, and Joe and Jackie for tail gunning. Our next Ride will be the $5.00 Picnic Ride on July 15, after the Gathering. Paul & Marge and Connie & Harry worked diligently planning this event to insure a great ride and picnic surroundings. Itinerary for Picnic Ride, July 15, after Gathering This years Picnic Ride will be to Litzenberg Memorial Woods in beautiful Hancock County. The park area officially opened 1995 when the property was bequeathed to the Hancock Park District by the late Otta Litzenberg. At the entrance to the park there's a very old house where Findlay's first settlers lived. The Park District now uses it for special events for children. It is a very pretty location which usually has a lot of flowers in bloom. Hope to see everyone there. (BELOW IS THE ROUTE WE WILL BE TAKING IN CASE ANYONE HAS TO LEAVE LATER THAN THE GROUP) When The Gathering is finished we will follow the Road Captains Ted &Joyce Strutz leading group #1 and Mike & Anita Hudson leading the 2 nd group. on the following route. Take SR# 39 from Mansfield to Shelby. Follow SR# 39 to SR# 103 - turn West/left on SR# 103. Stay on SR# 103 through New Washington until we reach SR# 4. Stay on SR# 568 into Findlay, continue to the center of town, (Main St.). Turn North/Right on Main St. Stay on Main St. We then come to W. Trenton Ave. where we will turn West/Left. MOTORIST AWARENESS RANDY & LINDA PORTER POTHOLES! POTHOLES! POTHOLES! IT IS SOMETHING WE ALL LOVE TO HATE!! We in Ohio fight the potholes year around, but mostly in the Spring and Summer. Potholes are formed when the stress of road breaks down and works apart causing cracks. Road traffic works it loose and then coms out. Potholes are very dangerous to traffic an in particular to motorcycles. They can stop you cold if deep enough, and throw you sideways causing a bad road rash. They can be deceiving in depth and often they appear to be filled in, but in actuality they are holes. A personal experience: I was riding to Mansfield from Wooster for our Mall Show. It was raining and foggy when I hit a pothole just past the Rt. 60 exit. It was very wide and deep and threw me a little sideways. Since I ride a trike, it did not throw me off, but it scared me badly. Ever since that night I avoid the area. POTHOLES ARE SOMETHING WE ALL MUST AVOID AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!!! RANDY AND LINDA, M.A.C. COUPLE OF THE YEAR FRANK AND ALICE SNYDER We have enjoyed all of the supper rides. If you have never been on one you are missing a good time. We did make the Ohio Rally. Due to the lack of attendance, it was a little disappointing this year. I know the state staff worked hard to put on a good rally and we appreciate all that they do. Where was all the people??? Chapter B had a great turnout. Ohio use to have one of the biggest rallies; this year only 350 pre-registered that was pretty sad. I know times are bad but if we want to continue to have state rallies we must support them. Come on Ohio support your local chapter. We need to support our State and Region Rallies. Let s have a huge showing at Region D Rally. Ride safe and watch out for your fellow riders and other vehicles. HAPPY 4 TH OF JULY Thank You All. FRANK & ALICE 6

SENIOR CHAPTER EDUCATORS TED & JOYCE STRUTZ Cornering is one of the most important skills a rider needs to learn. Regular cornering practice decreases the odds of being involved in a crash. Some people seem to pick up on this more quickly than others. Some, like me, have to think about it a little more. Often times I have to remind myself of the basics. Riding a motorcycle takes some amount of coordination. Not only do you have to balance this heavy two wheeled object, you also have to have directional control. Fortunately, we humans are very adaptable at various tasks. Unfortunately, too many riders do not fully develop their cornering skills. If you haven't practiced and become proficient with counter steering, you have created a bigger risk for yourself. Counter-steering can be a difficult subject to try to grasp. To begin with, counter-steering takes place after the bike is at 15MPH or greater. Slower than 15 and you actually do steer the motorcycle. To go around a curve you must initiate a lean. You do that by counter-steering. To make it sound a little easier, just remember, Press left to go left to lean left and press right to lean right to go right. Knowing the basics of counter-steering and practicing it can greatly increase your confidence. Good cornering technique also helps you to manage traction. The quicker you can turn the bike means it spends less time at maximum lean angle. This means you can straighten the bike sooner and get on the gas earlier with less risk of spinning the tire. Remember, get to know the basics well and then get out there and practice. HAPPY 4 TH OF JULY! NEWSLETTER EDITORS JIM & CAROL CULLER Six months of 2012 has gone by in a flash. The Buckeye Rally was hot! hot! hot! as it usually is. In the Bike Show, Steve Main (representing Chapter B) won 1 st place in his class. Due to my dash being painted, we were in the same 1800 class and we came in second. Couldn t have lost to a better person. The attendance at the Rally was down this year, however, our Chapter enjoyed themselves as always. We really need to support our State and Region Rallies. Without a good attendance, they will not be able to put them on. No matter where we go, it seems our Chapter has a great time entertaining themselves. We had a large group from Chapter B attend. Thanks to all who went and participated. For those who didn t go, you missed a good time. Joe s bike was violated a little as you can see in the picture. We have no idea who did it. We made one of the Pinewood Derby Cars to be raced and Dale Crowl made one. We did not win, however, ours were running great and looked great. Since I painted the decoration on the cars, Dale said they lost because I put too much paint on them. I knew it would end up my fault. We had a great turnout at the Relay for Life. Our Chapter did really well selling the 50/50 tickets for Macy s to benefit the Relay for Life. We started selling around 6:30 pm and ended at 9 p.m. and sold almost a $1,000.00 worth of tickets. The winner received $475.00. Afterwards, as usual, we went to Denny s to eat. Most of the group behaved themselves except for a couple. Guess who!!! But, in their defense, they were provoked!! Anyways, that s their story and they re sticking to it. Walgreens had a booth setup with a lot of items they donated. We bought a chance for Gage on a bucket of baseball cards and he won. Gage was a happy camper as there was an 8 ½ x 11 (authentically signed) picture of Grady Sizemore and a bucket full of baseball cards. (I will be putting addresses on he calendar for the Birthdates and Anniversaries so cards can be sent) If you do not want your address posted, please email me at jimcarol@neo.rr.com or call me at 419-347 8276. Thanks LOVE YOU ALL, SEE YOU SOON JIM & CAROL HAPPY 4 TH OF JULY 9

DINNER RIDE COORDINATORS JERRY & RITA ELDRIDGE We had 28 members at the last dinner ride to Spencer. What a hot time it was "the weather I mean". There were a few that drove. So they were the comfortable ones. Some of us came straight home, while others went into Ashland for ice cream. I should have gone for the ice cream. We've been riding in the evening, when theres no rain in sight, usually stop for ice cream. So if you want to come along give us a call. All of you going to Wing Ding have a safe trip and a good time. The next two dinner rides are: Wednesday, July 11 th Mrs Yoders Kitchen, 8101 Rt. 241, Mt. Hope Thursday, July 26 th Village Family Restaurant, 435 N. Warpole (Rt. 199), Upper Sandusky Happy Riding -- Jerry & Rita Always remember that if the weather permits, we meet at the "RICHLAND MALL" at 5p.m. to ride as a group.
