EXCELLENT ICE KIRKLAND YOUTH POND HOCKEY LEAGUE SPRING 2019 SEASON Welcome to the Spring 2019 Youth Pond Hockey League. In order to make your season a success, here are a few points that you should be aware of: THE Y.P.H.L. 1. All teams must complete the online registration and team balances must be completed prior to being scheduled. 2. THERE WILL BE NO PAYMENT EXCEPTIONS. TEAMS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PLAY UNTIL THE TEAM ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SETTLED. 3. Each team will be provided a set of jerseys and socks. Pinnies will be available in the case of a colour conflict. FORMAT 4. 12 GAMES: 3 evaluation games, 6 regular season games, 3 post-season games. ** NEW THIS SEASON ** Each team will play one OUTDOOR DEK HOCKEY GAME WHICH WILL COUNT TOWARDS THE REGULAR SEASON STANDINGS. These games will be scheduled during the month of May. Due to the volume of teams, some games may be scheduled outside of the regular times. Teams that are eliminated from the playoffs early on will play exhibition games for the remaining. 5. Line changes are permitted on the fly after a goal, penalty or injury only. Pulling the goalie is NOT considered a line change. If play is stopped for an injured player, that player must leave the ice. *** For Pre-Novice and Novice changes are allowed at any time. 6. Please ensure that your team is ready for the start of each game, as the puck will be dropped on time. Once the Zamboni has resurfaced the ice, there will be a three-minute warm-up, after which the game will commence. Late teams will be penalized one penalty shot for every two minutes that they are late.

7. MAXIMUM of 3 coaches/parents behind the bench at any time. (18 years ++) ONE of the coaches/parents must identify themselves as the HEAD coach. The HEAD coach is the only person allowed to speak to the referee. 8. SUPERVISOR ON DUTY : A non-referee supervisor will be present every day/night during league play to ensure that all games run smoothly and any issues are taken care of (i.e. color conflicts, handing out score sheets prior to the game, verifying spares, monitoring of potential problems, handling off-ice issues, etc.) If there is a problem during a game, with the other team or the referee, please speak to the supervisor right away. PENALTIES, SUSPENSIONS AND FIGHTING: 9. During game play, an effort will be made to prevent fighting if the referee or supervisor feels intervention is needed. At the first instance of a fight, whether it is gloves dropped, pushing in the corner, or general yapping, penalties will be assessed. In addition, players who do participate in a fight will be removed from the game and a report will be written up. Dropping gloves will automatically result in at least a one-game suspension and potential expulsion from the league (even if no punches are thrown). Any suspensions are subject to the discretion of the league supervisor on duty. They will have the final say. Moreover, all suspensions will be posted on the website as follows: Andrew Wilson (Backhanders) suspended 09/01 2 nd offense 3 game suspension. Eligible 9/29. The team captain will be informed of their player s suspension as well. 10. All season schedules can be found on our website at www.excellentice-kirkland.com. Evaluation games and play off schedules will be completed on a week to week basis. 11. All questions or concerns about the league can be directed to lori@excellentice-kirkland.com or bsabino@excellentice-kirkland.com. PLAYER ELIGIBILITY

12. Teams made up of individual players are only permitted spare players who are currently registered in the 2019 YPHL season and approved by Brent or Lori. In the event that one of the individual teams created by Excellent Ice does not have the minimum # of required players (4 skaters) Excellent Ice will attempt to provide spares. (You cannot bring a friend to play a game if he/she has not paid and registered in our league.) 13. Spare players must be of EQUAL OR LOWER CALIBRE than the team for which they are playing and must be indicated on the team roster PRIOR TO THE FIRST EVALUATION GAME. 14. Please ensure that the score sheet is complete for each game (e.g. numbers filled out for present players, spare players clearly indicated). ANY PLAYER NOT MARKED ON THE SHEET WILL NOT RECEIVE A GAME PLAYED CREDIT. This may become a factor come playoff time. 15. Each player must play a minimum of two (2) league games ( exhibition or regular season ) in order to be eligible for the playoffs. ALL SPARES MUST BE PUT ON THE ROSTER PRIOR TO MARCH 25 TH. THE USE OF ILLEGAL PLAYERS WILL RESULT IN A FORFEIT OF THAT GAME, AND POSSIBLY THE ENTIRE PLAYOFFS. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE. 16. A spare who is not a regular player on any Y.P.H.L. team, who is suspended at all during the course of the season, will be barred from playing any more games for the remainder of the season. Y.P.H.L. LEAGUE RULES ON ICE: 17. All participants accept the inherent risk involved in playing competitive ice hockey. All participants must wear proper protective equipment each game. Failure to do so exposes players to possible injury, and the potential for not being allowed to play the game. *** A helmet with a minimum full cage, along with a neck guard, must be worn at all times. 18. BODYCHECKING IS NOT PERMITTED. 19. FIGHTING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. There is a zero tolerance policy for fighting. There will be an automatic suspension and potential expulsion for any player who fights, or even drops their gloves but doesn t throw any punches. All infractions are subject to the league coordinator s discretion. ANY FURTHER OFF-ICE FIGHTING WILL BE HANDLED BY THE POLICE.

20. A player receiving a minor penalty will be sent off the ice for one shift. The opposing team will receive a penalty shot. 21. No penalty shots will be awarded for coincidental minor penalties. The players involved in the altercation will be sent off the ice for one shift. 22. Three (3) minor penalties will result in an expulsion from that game only. (Please note these can be ANY three infractions.) 23. Late players may enter a game up to the end of the 2 nd period. A late spare must be on the roster prior to the commencement of the game. 24. Intentional delay of game in the last 2 minutes will result in a penalty shot. (i.e.: late changes, putting too many players on the ice, faking an injury, shooting the puck over the boards, purposely dislodging the net, goalie taking off his mask, coach calling team to the bench etc.) 25. Tied games at the end of regulation will be settled by a best -of-three shootout. A player may not shoot twice until each player on the team (except goalie) has shot once. Ejected players may not participate in the shootout. If the score is still tied after three shooters, the shootout will then be sudden-death., 26. Standing tie-breakers: wins, plus/minus, goals for, head-to-head records, plus/minus in head-to-head games, coin toss. OFF ICE: 27. VERBAL ABUSE OF AN OFFICIAL OR EMPLOYEE WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC GAME MISCONDUCT AND SUSPENSION. ANY PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH AN OFFICIAL WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC EXPULSION AND LIFETIME BAN FROM THE BUILDING. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH TEAM TO CONTROL ITS PLAYERS. SHOULD YOU HAVE A PROBLEM, PLEASE SPEAK TO LORI OR BRENT DIRECTLY. REMEMBER, THIS IS A FUN LEAGUE! 28. Any player that becomes involved in a physical altercation in the stands, hallways, dressing rooms or parking lot of the arena with another player, spectator, official or arena staff will receive an automatic expulsion from the league. A team in violation of arena rules may be barred from the arena for the remainder of the season with no refund. 29. Teams are not permitted to bring alcoholic beverages or food into the building.

Please respect your opponents. WE ALL HAVE TO GO TO WORK (OR SCHOOL) IN THE MORNING! Thank you, Brent Sabino Lori Iacovelli bsabino@excellentice-kirkland.com lori@excellentice-kirkland.com Excellent Ice Kirkland 514-695-4368
