EXCELLENT ICE KIRKLAND YOUTH POND HOCKEY LEAGUE SPRING 2019 SEASON Welcome to the Spring 2019 Youth Pond Hockey League. In order to make your season a success, here are a few points that you should be aware of: THE Y.P.H.L. 1. All teams must complete the online registration and team balances must be completed prior to being scheduled. 2. THERE WILL BE NO PAYMENT EXCEPTIONS. TEAMS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO PLAY UNTIL THE TEAM ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SETTLED. 3. Each team will be provided a set of jerseys and socks. Pinnies will be available in the case of a colour conflict. FORMAT 4. 12 GAMES: 3 evaluation games, 6 regular season games, 3 post-season games. ** NEW THIS SEASON ** Each team will play one OUTDOOR DEK HOCKEY GAME WHICH WILL COUNT TOWARDS THE REGULAR SEASON STANDINGS. These games will be scheduled during the month of May. Due to the volume of teams, some games may be scheduled outside of the regular times. Teams that are eliminated from the playoffs early on will play exhibition games for the remaining. 5. Line changes are permitted on the fly after a goal, penalty or injury only. Pulling the goalie is NOT considered a line change. If play is stopped for an injured player, that player must leave the ice. *** For Pre-Novice and Novice changes are allowed at any time. 6. Please ensure that your team is ready for the start of each game, as the puck will be dropped on time. Once the Zamboni has resurfaced the ice, there will be a three-minute warm-up, after which the game will commence. Late teams will be penalized one penalty shot for every two minutes that they are late.
7. MAXIMUM of 3 coaches/parents behind the bench at any time. (18 years ++) ONE of the coaches/parents must identify themselves as the HEAD coach. The HEAD coach is the only person allowed to speak to the referee. 8. SUPERVISOR ON DUTY : A non-referee supervisor will be present every day/night during league play to ensure that all games run smoothly and any issues are taken care of (i.e. color conflicts, handing out score sheets prior to the game, verifying spares, monitoring of potential problems, handling off-ice issues, etc.) If there is a problem during a game, with the other team or the referee, please speak to the supervisor right away. PENALTIES, SUSPENSIONS AND FIGHTING: 9. During game play, an effort will be made to prevent fighting if the referee or supervisor feels intervention is needed. At the first instance of a fight, whether it is gloves dropped, pushing in the corner, or general yapping, penalties will be assessed. In addition, players who do participate in a fight will be removed from the game and a report will be written up. Dropping gloves will automatically result in at least a one-game suspension and potential expulsion from the league (even if no punches are thrown). Any suspensions are subject to the discretion of the league supervisor on duty. They will have the final say. Moreover, all suspensions will be posted on the website as follows: Andrew Wilson (Backhanders) suspended 09/01 2 nd offense 3 game suspension. Eligible 9/29. The team captain will be informed of their player s suspension as well. 10. All season schedules can be found on our website at www.excellentice-kirkland.com. Evaluation games and play off schedules will be completed on a week to week basis. 11. 12. Teams made up of individual players are only permitted spare players who are currently registered in the 2019 YPHL season and approved by Brent or Lori. In the event that one of the individual teams created by Excellent Ice does not have the minimum # of required players (4 skaters) Excellent Ice will attempt to provide spares. (You cannot bring a friend to play a game if he/she has not paid and registered in our league.) 13. Tied games at the end of regulation will be settled by a best -of-three shootout. A player may not shoot twice until each player on the team (except goalie) has shot once.
