VOL-15 01 JUNE - 31 JULY 2015 NEWSLETTER Message from Dr. Narinder Dhruv Batra President - Hockey India & Chairman - Hockey India League June and July proved to be fruitful for Indian Hockey. It was not only the Indian Hockey teams who made us feel proud because of their brilliant play on the field but even both the Jr. teams attained a similar feat in the just concluded Volvo International Under 21 tournament. June was a very crucial month for the Indian Women team as they were playing for a berth in the upcoming RIO Olympics at the Hockey World League Semi-Final (Women). The team through their outstanding performance ensured that they stayed in contention for the all important tournament next year. On the other hand the Men team playing the Hockey World League Semi-Final (Men) ended the tournament on a high as they claimed the 4th position. Seeing the seniors performing with elan, the Jr. Women team during the Volvo International Under 21 tournament stunned their opponents as they finished at the third position while in the same tournament the Jr. Men team finished fourth. The two months which went by, proves to us that the teams are now hungry for wins as they aim for atleast the top 4 slots in any tournament that they play. This makes us feel proud and gives us a new zeal to work more harder for them in ensuring that they go out and conquer.
