Head Coach Tim Norris Tim Norris is in his 13th season as the head men s golf coach at Kansas State after coming to Manhattan from UTEP prior to the 1997 season. Norris has brought an extensive knowledge of the game and a tremendous work ethic to the program, each of which have been derived from over 18 years of coaching experience and nine years on the PGA Tour, where he recorded four championships. When Norris took over the then downtrodden K-State program, the Wildcats had not finished in the top half of their conference since 1969. Par 72 / 6,970 Yards Host: Fresno State Wildcats Begin Spring Season UP NEXT: The 51st-ranked Kansas State men's golf team will begin the spring por on of the 2009-10 season in Fresno, Calif., at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. The event takes place Monday, March 8, through Tuesday, March 9, at the San Joaquin Country Club. The event tees off Monday with a 36-hole shotgun start at 10:00 a.m. (CT). The final round will begin at 10:00 a.m. (CT) on Tuesday with golfers teeing off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. An awards ceremony will immediately follow the conclusion of the tournament. LOOK AT THE FIELD: The 15-team field includes: No. 5 Washington, No. 17 Oregon, No. 18 California, No. 30 San Diego, No. 43 Pepperdine, No. 46 Fresno State, No. 48 Michigan, No. 51 Kansas State, No. 55 Brigham Young, No. 63 UC Irvin, Cal Poly, Nevada, Pacific, Sacramento State, St. Mary s, and San Jose State. FALL 2009 RECAP: The Wildcats had a very successful fall season placing in the top-five in five of their six events. The squad won the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate for the second straight season and is currently on pace to break the team stroke average record set by the 2008-09 team. LAST TIME OUT: The Wildcats recorded its fi h top-five finish of the fall with a 9-under par 843 at the Pacific Invita onal. The Cats carded a final round score of 4-under par 280 to climb up three spots from eighth to fi h at the par 71, 6,757-yard Brookside Country Club. HOST SAN JOAQUIN COUNTRY CLUB: Fresno State will host the 16-teams at the San Joaquin Country Club. San Joaquin Country Club opened in 1961 and has played host to the PGA, NCAA, USGA Mid-Am & Trans-Na onal Tournaments. The course s 18- hole layout is listed as a par 72 and spans 6,970 yards. Gregson is currently on pace to break nearly every career record at Kansas State. He is ranked 55th nationally by GolfWeek and leads the team in stroke average at 70.59. JOE IDA - SENIOR - FORT SCOTT, KAN. Ida tied for 13th place at the Pacific Invitational to end the fall season. Ida finished the fall with three top-10 finishes and is currently second on the team in stroke average at 71.94. JOE KINNEY - SENIOR - ANTIOCH, ILL. Kinney had a very successful fall season with three top-10 finishes. His best finish of the fall came at the Wolf Pack Classic where he tied for second place. Kinney is third on the team in stroke average at 72.00. JASON SCHULTE - JUNIOR - MISSION HILLS, KAN. Schulte participated in five out of the six events during the fall season. At the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate, he fired the best 54- hole score of his career as he posted a 2-over par 215. Schulte has a stroke average of 73.93 CURTIS YONKE - FRESHMAN - OVERLAND PARK, KAN. Yonke became the first freshman since Kyle Smell in 2007 to compete in five or more events in his first semester as a Wildcat. Yonke has a 74.67 stroke average. BEN JUFFER - FRESHMAN - WEST DES MOINES, IOWA Juffer competed in two events during the fall and has stedily improved his game throughout the offseason. Juffer currently has a 79.60 stroke average.
