Sponsored by General Electric, the kid's expo is a unique, community building event that offers children of varying ages the chance to experience different interactive activities offered in the community they live in. Activities such as arts and crafts, pony rides, fire and police department education, and for the first time ever, judo. 2

The JMJC was asked to participate at this year s event (and solidify their already sterling reputation) by performing demonstrations and giving private lessons throughout the day on judo techniques, and the positive life benefits of judo training. Conducting the demos and lessons were JMJC team members & 2016 Olympic Hopefuls, Brad Bolen and Nick Kossor. Each person who walked by the booth was eager to step on the mat and throw the national champions and world team members (Bolen & Kossor), each time drawing cheers and applause from all spectators. This was not the first and certainly won't be the last time the JMJC and Empire State Plaza have teamed up for community building exercises. Last summer the JMJC was a highlighted demo group as part of the outdoor "summer at the Plaza" series. In addition to the outreach work with the Empire State Plaza, the JMJC is also involved with "Team RWB Albany" which is an organization that benefits veterans, wounded warriors, and families of soldiers. Nick Kossor recently hosted the second ever judo workout for Team RWB Albany in an attempt to give veterans an outlet to help them reintegrate to society post deployment. 3

Karo "The Heat" Parisyan Seminar The Jason Morris Judo Center proudly presented Karo Parisyan March 9, 2014 for a Grappling/Fighting/Judo seminar. Karo put on a superb clinic showing a lot of the moves that made him one of the biggest names in MMA and the UFC. He then spent a couple hours signing autographs and sharing some great stories of his career. Catch Karo in his next fight on Spike TV, Friday, April 11, 2014. 4

Hannah visits Hawaii Honolulu, HI - Jason Morris Judo Center Athlete Hannah Martin (25) visited the beautiful Island of Hawaii to teach judo March 5-10. It all started in November 2013, at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix when Hannah simply helped out fellow USA athlete Michael Valentine. It was his first international event and Hannah decided to take him under her wing and show him the ropes. A few weeks later Hannah received an email from Michael Valentine inviting her to Honolulu, all expenses paid to teach judo and share her international competition experiences with the judokas of Hawaii. Hannah taught at the Punahou High School and at the Hawaii Tenri Judo Club. Teaching her favorite techniques such as taio-toshi and o-soto gari. During her down time, she spent most of the time at the Waikiki beach getting some sun and enjoying the Hawaiian cuisine on Waikiki beach. 5

Kossor Wins World Cup Bronze Montevideo, Uruguay - Burnt Hills High School graduate, Nick Kossor (28) led the way for the Jason Morris Judo Center (JMJC) athletes competing in the Uruguay World Cup by winning a bronze medal in 60kg March 17, 2014. Kossor's only loss was in the semis to Pam Am rival, Nestor Castillo (Mexico) who is ranked #25 in the world. Kossor capped off his bronze run catching Allan Kuwabara (Brazil) with jujigatame (arm bar) in the first 40 seconds to capture his 4th career World Cup medal. Brad Bolen (25) picked up some valuable World Ranking Points (WRL) points placing 7th at 66kg. Alex Turner (20) continued his improvement as he went 1-1 to crack the top 200 on the WRL in 73kg losing to eventual silver medalist and #25 ranked Marcelo Contini (Brazil). 6

JMJC Trio Qualify for Pan Am Judo Team Glenville, NY - Brad Bolen (25), Nick Kossor (28) & Hannah Martin (25) from the Glenville, NY based Jason Morris Judo Center qualified to compete in the Pan Am Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador, April 25-27, 2014 USA Judo has announced. The trio brings the JMJC count to 29 total Pan Am team members in its 13 year history. Making this team is crucial to qualifying for the Olympics as the point values you can earn are second only to Grand Slam events and the World Championships. Bolen has qualified for the Pan- Ams a fifth straight year at 66kg which is a JMJC best having taken a Bronze medal the last two years and a Gold in 2010. Burnt Hills High School graduate, Kossor is making his fourth (2014, 2013, 2011, 2007) appearance at 60kg with his best result being a bronze last year in San Jose, Costa Rica. Burnt Hills High graduate, Martin who is making her second straight trip to the Pan -Ams took a bronze in 2013. The trio will be looking to improve their world ranking in their respective weight classes at the Pan-Ams as Bolen is now #27, Kossor sits at #26 and Martin currently holds the #10 spot. Brad Bolen Hannah Martin Nick Kossor 7

Irving, TX - SCCC Student, Maria Dhami (18) and 2013 Burnt Hills High School graduate, Jack Hatton (18) from the Jason Morris Judo Center (JMJC) in Glenville won gold medals at USA Judo's Scholastic Championships held at the Irving Convention Center in Irving, TX, March 23, 2014. They both also claimed a spot on their second straight Jr. World team (under21) as this event served as a qualifier for that, which will be held in the US for the first time October 22-26 in Miami, FL. The JMJC has now had 21 athletes make the jr. world team with the first coming in 2000. Dhami dominated the 52kg division going 4-0 on the day winning all of her matches in under 30 seconds. Hatton recovered from and early loss posting a 7-1 record to claim the 81kg category in the double elimination event. Burnt Hills High Junior, Nick Irabli (17) just missed making his first Jr. World team losing only in the +100kg final to rival Akbar Iminov (20). Irabli ended up with a silver as he continues to show much improvement. Burnt Hills High, Senior Eric Skylar (17) finished 7th in 81kg and Burnt Hills Senior, Chris Alaynick (18) also placed 7th in 73kg. Dhami and Hatton will attempt to climb onto the podium as their coach, Jason Morris did in 1986 taking a bronze at the Jr. Worlds in Rome, Italy 8

Samsun, Turkey - 2006 Burnt Hills High School graduate, Hannah Martin (25) from the Jason Morris Judo Center/NYAC placed fifth at the International Judo Federation's (IJF) Grand Prix in Turkey, March 29, 2014. Martin (63kg), who took fifth place a week earlier at the Tbilisi, Georgia Grand Prix is becoming a staple in the medal rounds on the IJF tour. Martin lost in the quarterfinals to rival and eventual champ, Kathrin Unterwurzacher (Austria) which marks the third straight Grand Prix that Hannah has lost to the eventual winner. The bronze medal match started well for Martin but then her opponent Szabina Gercsak (Hungary) countered an attack which caused Hannah to move awkwardly injuring her knee. Martin tried in vain to continue but couldn't mount any offense due to the knee and was thrown to end the match. Her next event will be the all-important Pan Am Championships in Guayaquil, Ecuador at the end of April which JMJC teammates Brad Bolen (25) and Nick Kossor (28) will be going to as they have qualified as well.
