The Vandals enter the game with a 1-0 record on the season, while the Sooners are 1-0 entering the week and host North Texas on Nov. 11, also part of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. ABOUT THE SOONERS Oklahoma beat Alabama 82-73 on a neutral court in its season opener. The Sooners had four double-figure scorers, led by 19 points from Buddy Hield. Ryan Spangler added 15, Cameron Clark scored 14 and Jordan Woodard had 10 in that game. Oklahoma shot 44.4 percent against Alabama and connected on 7-of-21 3-pointers. The Sooners also had a 38-37 rebounding advantage and forced the Crimson Tide into 14 turnovers. TEAM NOTES OFF TO THE RIGHT START -- The Vandals won their season-opener over Western Illinois after shooting 40.8 percent from the field, connecting on seven three pointers and controlling a +6.0 rebounding advantage against the Leathernecks. Twin Falls/Sun Valley TOPPING THE WAC -- While Idaho is one of just two WAC teams who are unbeaten in 2013-14, the Vandals also sit at the top of the WAC in several statistical categories. Idaho leads the WAC in 3-point FG% (36.8) and 3-pointers made (7.0) and ranks second in #FG% defense (18.2), rebounding defense (29.0), assists (10.0) and assist to turnover ratio (0.80). COACHES VS. CANCER -- The Vandals will play in the 2013 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, beginning at Oklahoma on Nov. 13 and wrapping up with three games in Portland Nov. 21-23 when they face Portland, North Texas and Columbia. NEW TO THE SHOW --The Vandals have 10 newcomers and two returning redshirts in 2013-14. Idaho s newcomers include freshmen Perrion Callandret, Jordan Scott, Sekou Wiggs, Chad Sherwood and Patrick Ball, sophomore Paulin Mpawe, juniors Mike Scott, Bira Seck and Roberto Asencio and senior Glen Dean. Ty Egbert and Allen Jiles IV are coming off redshirt seasons last year. COMING BACK -- Idaho returns two starters and three letterwinners from last season. Senior Stephen Madison, who averaged 14.1 points per game and junior Connor Hill, who averaged 12.1 points per game, combined to start 56 (out of 60 possible) games for Idaho last season. Senior Joe Kammerer, who appeared in 28 of Idaho s 30 games off the bench last season, also returns. PRESEASON PICKS -- The Vandals were picked to finish second in the WAC by the media and fourth by the coaches entering the 2013-14 season. Idaho went 12-18 last season and 7-11 in the WAC to finish sixth. HOME AWAY FROM HOME -- Idaho will face both of its in-state, Division I rivals in the CenturyLink Arena in Boise, Idaho this season. The Vandals will square off against Boise State in Boise on Nov. 27, a home game for BSU. Idaho will also face Idaho State in Boise on Dec. 20, a return game from last year s BracketBuster game. INDIVIDUAL NOTES WAC S BEST IN OPENING WEEK -- Idaho senior forward Stephen Madison earned WAC Player of the Week honors from the WAC as well as College Sports Madness. Madison had hsi third career double-double with 21 points and a career-high 14 rebounds in the win, while going 7-for-11 from the field and 4-of-6 from 3-point distance. APPROACHING 1,000 -- Idaho senior forward Stephen Madison is closing in on his 1,000th career point. Madison now has 961 career points and a 10.0 points per game career average. Madison is set to become Idaho s 14th alltime 1,000-point scorer. A STELLAR DEBUT -- Idaho senior point guard Glen Dean -- a first year transfer from Utah -- put on a show in his Vandal debut. Dean finished with 15 points and two assists and went 8-of-9 from the free throw line. EFFICIENT -- Idaho transfers Bira Seck and Paulin Mpawe also had strong debuts as Vandals. PRESEASON HONORS -- Idaho s Stephen Madison and Connor Hill each earned preseason all-wac honors entering the 2013-14 season. Madison was a member of the five-player team in the Media Poll and a first-team selection in the Coaches Poll. Hill earned second team honors in the coaches poll. COACHING BROTHERS -- Idaho head coach Don Verlin s twin brother Ron became the head coach at Pacific during the recent offseason.
