Chicago owns the fourth-best record in the American League and leads the Indians by 2.5 games in the AL Central. The White Sox opened the homestand by losing two of three games to both Houston and Kansas City. Following this series, the Sox will take a 10-game, 11-day trip to Kansas City, New York-NL and Detroit from 5/26-6/5. TODAY'S STORYLINES Game 1 tonight is the 18,000th game in Indians history, and Game 2 will be the 18,000th in White Sox history. The Sox are hitting.207 (25-121) with seven runs scored, 29 left on base and a.107 RISP mark (3-28) in the last four games. Chicago is 3-8 over its last 11 games, with nine of the contests being decided by two runs or less two of the three wins during that span have been complete-game efforts by Chris Sale. The White Sox are 8-3 vs. the American League Central in 2016 they have outscored divisional foes by a 43-27 margin. Todd Frazier tied the game with a solo homer in the fourth (No. 13) Cabrera extended his hitting streak vs. the Royals to 15. Carlos Rodon snapped his six-start winless stretch, allowing just two runs over 6.2 IP Sox relievers combined to work 2.1 perfect IP David Robertson recorded his 11th save. Jose Abreu received his fi rst day off this season Chicago went 1-11 with RISP and left seven runners on base. STRONG EARLY RETURNS Chicago owns the sixth-best record in the major leagues the club is off to its best 44-game start since 2006 (29-15). Below is additional information about the club's 2016 start: Chicago has led the division for 30 straight days (since 4/23). The White Sox 2.5-game is tied for the largest in the AL. The Sox have spent 42 days in fi rst place (11 total from 2013-15). Chicago has recorded four sweeps this season (fi ve total in 2015). The White Sox are on pace to fi nish with a 96-66 record. 18,000 AND COUNTING Game 1 tonight is the 18,000th game in Indians history, and Game 2 will be the 18,000th in White Sox history. It will mark the fi rst time in MLB history two teams facing each other reach milestone games on the same day (source: STATS). The Sox defeated the Indians, 8-2, on 4/24/1901 at South Side Park in Chicago, the fi rst game in the history of both clubs. TWO SMOKIN' ACES Jose Quintana and Chris Sale are a combined 14-3 with a 1.76 ERA (25 ER/127.2 IP) and 114 strikeouts in 18 starts this season Chicago is 15-3 in their outings overall this season. PITCHING PROWESS Chicago leads the American League in ERA (3.15) and opponents OPS (.663) and ranks third in WHIP (1.21) the White Sox have allowed two runs or less in 12 of the last 26 games. Sox pitchers lead MLB in games allowing one or zero runs (16) and games surrendering four hits or less (11). STARTING POINT White Sox starters lead the American League with a 3.42 ERA (104 ER/273.2 IP), down from a 4.12 mark in 2015 Chicago starters have allowed the third-fewest homers (30) in the AL.
