INDIANAPOLIS, IN (June 1, 2018) The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre shutout the Indianapolis Indians 4-0 at Victory Field on Friday evening. Chance Adams struck out seven over five and two-thirds and Mike Ford drove in a pair to back the starter in the series opener. In the top of the first, Clint Frazier scored on a two-out single from Ford off Indians starting pitcher J.T. Brubaker. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre added a pair of runs in the fifth against Brubaker with Ford doubling in Frazier and Kyle Higashioka providing runscoring single, plating Brandon Drury, to give the RailRiders a 3-0 lead. Billy McKinney led off the top of the eighth with a solo home run off Dovydas Neverauskas. It was McKinney s third home run over the last four games and extended the advantage to 4-0. Adams (2-2) allowed a single in the first, third and two more in the fifth, but only faced three batters with a runner in scoring position. Cale Coshow and Cody Carroll completed the shutout bid; the fourth this season by the RailRiders and second on this road trip. Brubaker (2-2) allowed the first three runs and took the loss; the sixth straight for Indianapolis. current roadtrip statistics swb g avg ab h r hr bb k sb hitting 4.238 143 34 15 7 16 30 3 swb w-l era ip h r er bb k hr pitching 3-1 1.21 37.1 26 6 5 10 34 0 New York Yankees (MLB) 4-1 Win @ Baltimore Aaron Judge: 1-5, HR (16), RBI Gardner, Hicks, Romine, Torres w/ two hits apiece Sonny Gray: 6.0 IP, 4 H, R, 6 K, 0 BB around the organization Trenton Thunder (AA) 7-2 Win @ Bowie Ryan McBroom: 3-5 Abiatal Avelino: 2-5, HR, 2 RBI Rey Navarro: 2-4, HR, RBI Michael King: 7.0 IP, R, 4 K news & notes ON IT: Brandon Drury s second-inning single Friday extended his on-base streak to 24 games; every game he has played in Triple-A this season between his rehab stint and after he was optioned on May 14. Drury s streak is tied for the fourth longest in RailRiders history, dating back to the start of the 2013 season. He has matched two of Rob Refsnyder s on-base streaks (two 24 game streaks in 2017, one of which bridged from 2016) and is one game away from matching Refsnyder (2015) and Donovan Solano (2017) for third-most. Cole Figueroa reached in 26 straight during the 2015 season. Jake Cave holds the RailRiders mark at 31 in a row last season. OLI S OUT: Prior to Friday s game, reliever Oliver Perez was released from his contract by the New York Yankees. Perez was 1-0 with a 2.57 earned run average over 16 games, but had allowed nine of 14 inherited runners to score. MORE MOVEMENT: Outfielder Shane Robinson was placed on the 7-Day Disabled List and first baseman/ outfielder Ryan McBroom was transferred to Trenton. To fill part of the void, outfielders Cesar Diaz was transferred from Extended Spring Training and Mark Payton was activated from the 7-Day Disabled List. Diaz played twice for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in April, while Payton had not played a game at any level this season after off-season knee surgery. SPREADING THE WEALTH: The RailRiders connected for six homers as a team Tuesday/Wednesday night, including the team-best 7 th and 8 th of the year from INF Mike Ford and the 5th of the year from OF Clint Frazier and INF/OF Ryan McBroom. This gives SWB five players with 5+ HR and seven players with 4+ HR this season. That s the second-most in the International League behind the Durham Bulls who have six players with 5+ HR and 10 players with 4+ HR. RECOVERY MODE: Chance Adams worked five and two-thirds on Friday before Cale Coshow and Cody Carroll completed the shutout bid. It was the fourth shutout this season by the RailRiders and second on this trip. The staff ERA is back under four, at 3.93, for the first tome since last week prior to the Syracuse series. LONG GONE: Billy McKinney hit 16 home runs over 124 games between Trenton and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre last year. He has hit three over his last four games.
