Our Orange Panthers traveled to Piedmont High School Saturday for the 3A State Team Dual Championship. The match started @ 120 lbs. Our Panthers fough a very tough Piedmont team. The team were fairly matched at the wieght classes which led to a very tough battle. Our Panthers gave their BEST, battled to the last match when the Championship was decided 29-27. The Orange Panthers had a GREAT season going 31-1. Team Orange continued to improve throughout the season. Thanks Wrestlers, Coaches, & the FANS for making this season one of the BEST. ======================================= 2/2/17 Panthers WIN, Panthers WIN 3A Eastern Regional Rounds 3 & 4 of the State Team Duals were held February 2nd @ Grays Creek. Our Panthers first faced a very tough Swansboro. The match started @ 120 lbs & the battle began. The match went back & forth until the Panthers took command with a pin @ heavyweight win the 33-30 WIN. Next up the host school Gray's Creek. The match started @ 126 lbs & the Panthers jumped out to a 10 point lead. Gray's Creek battled back to cut the Panther lead to 10-6. The Panthers came back & won the next seven matches to WIN the Eastern Region Championship 46-18. The news from the Western Region came in & it was Peidmont. On Saturday Our Panthers will travel to Peidmont for the 3A State Dual Team Championship. The time is 5:00 pm, direction to follow. match results ======================================= 1/31/17 Tonight Orange hosted Rounds 1 & 2 of the 3A State Team Duals The Panthers battled a tough Corinth Holders in the first round & came through with a 43-27 victory. In the second round, the Panthers faced Fike. When the mat dust settled the Panthers won 45-36. The Panthers now advance to round 3 on Thursday. The site & time are TBD. Results =============================================== ====================================== 1/26/17 Tonight was Senior night, a time to honor the Panther Seniors & their parents. Next came the conference matches. in the first match the Panthers faced shorthanded Southern Durham team in which the Panthers won to set up the showdown for the Conference Championship vs Chapel Hill.

The match started @ 152 lbs The Panthers fell behind early after the first 2 matches 9-0. in the 170 match, a pin trimmed the Tiger lead to 9-6. A loss @ 182 increased the Tiger lead to 15-6. The next 4 matches went to the Panthers 2 decisions & 2 pins put the Panthers in the lead 24-15. A Tiger pin & forfeit kept the Panthers in the lead 30-21. Chapel Hill won 2 close decisions to cut the Panther lead to 30-27 with 2 matches left. The Panthers finished strong with 2 pins to WIN the match & Conference Championship 42-27. There was a nice turnout of fans & alumni to celebrate Coach Shriner's 600 WIN over the weekend. Next up State Dual Team Tournament, stay turned for site & time. The Panthers started with Apex-Friendship High, then Leesville Road, next East Wake & finally Smithfield Selma. The Panthers won the four matches winning the pool & the face Middle Creek for the final. The Panthers wrestled tough winning the final 45-21. GREAT weekend Panthers. Our Panthers wrestled well on Friday night pushing 13 of the 14 wrestlers into the semifinals & into the lead of the tournament. The semi-finals were not kind to the Panthers moving 6 of the 13 wrestlers into the Finals. Overall the Orange Panthers placed 13 of 14 wrestlers building up the points to 286.0 to WIN the Eastern Alamance Eagle Classic. Congratulations to Gavin Wiggins for being selected Most Valuable Wrestler of the tournament & to Charlie Fitzpatrick for scoring 4 pins in a total time of 5:28. 12/11/16 Results from the Jim Coggins HOF Classic held @ Southwest Guilford 12/10/16 This weekend our Orange Panthers traveled to Southwest Guilford High to compete in the Jim Coggins HOF Classic. This was a 6-team round robin. The Orange Panthers came prepared. They started with Rockingham County with a 66-15 WIN. Ronald Reagan was the next match winning 77-0. The Panthers won against Eastern Guilford 78-0. Against North Davidson the Panthers wrestled to a 69-9 victory. The last match was against the home team Southwest Guilford. The Panthers wrestled to a 45-26 victory to WIN the 2016 Jim Coggins HOF Classic 5-0. Our Orange Panthers came prepared & won 75-6 improving their record to 8-0 & 1-0 in Conference. Without a very GOOD table worker pool the tournament can run into problems. Thanks to Emily Gaddy & her trainier staff who support the student atheletes throughout the tournament. Thanks to the headtable keeping the tournament running on track & keeping the brackets straight. Thanks to the referees who did a GREAT job over the 2 days. Last & certainly not last THANKS to the hospitality staff. You keep the Coaches, referees, & table workers fed. We heard numerous compliments not only of the good food but the deversified menu.
