BTC Hastie Shield Duathlon Series - 2018 Turkey Point behind the Bunbury Port Race dates July 15 th, August 12 th and September 16th Bunbury Tri Club is holding a series of three Duathlon races sponsored by F45 Training during the Winter off season to keep you focused on your training, so you have a goal to work towards each month and to be ready for the 2018/2019 Triathlon season. With permission from the Bunbury Port Authority, we have been granted use of the roads behind the port area that lead to the cut. We will hold all three races at the same location to save on travel and setup issues. This also allows competitors to become familiar with the course layout. The course is a Run, Bike, Run, with the run being held on a light sandy track which is comfortable under foot. The 2018 bike course is now a 5km lap on smooth roads with hairpin turns at each end and one 90-degree corner. The road will stay open to traffic, but traffic marshals will be in place. Being an early start and a quiet location, we expect any road traffic will be minimal. However, when competing on the cycle course, participants must obey the roads rules at all times. TWA Drafting rules apply to the duathlon races. There must be a 7 metre gap between riders unless you are overtaking. We will be timing the races but with just a start and finish time. No splits. Use your Garmin for that. The run course is a 2.5km lap for the long course which is run twice for the first leg and once for the second leg. For the short course, it is a 2.5km run for the first leg and a shorter 1.25km out and back for the second leg. A short course turn point will be marked for the 2 nd run. The bike course is a 5km lap with there being 4 laps for the long course and 2 laps for the short course. Transition is in a limestone paved carpark area adjacent to the road course with 2 entries and exits and competitors entering transition at the rear from the run course. Bike course exit will be at one end of the carpark and entry at the other. Bike mount and dismount areas will be marked. For safety reasons, the wearing of earphones of any type while racing is not allowed. We will be providing a portable toilet for your use.
Location Leschenault Drive, Turkey Point behind Bunbury Port Parking is available along the road side on either side of the carpark. The carpark is to be used for transition, please do not park in it. https://www.google.com.au/maps/@-33.3170186,115.6738828,1619m/data=!3m1!1e3?hl=en Course Distances Short Course - Run 2.5km Ride 10 km Run 1.25 km Long Course - Run 5km Ride 20 km Run 2.5 km Participants can complete the long course solo or as a team.
