Cucamonga, 5:05 Giants Begin Three-Game Series Against Lancaster This Afternoon The San Jose Giants begin a three-game series against the Lancaster JetHawks this afternoon at Municipal Stadium. The Giants are 3-3 versus the JetHawks this season with all six previous meetings coming in Lancaster. Conner Menez (3-2, 3.24) is slated to start on the mound for San Jose today. Homestand Update San Jose is currently in the midst of a season-high nine-game homestand. The Giants are 2-4 thus far on the homestand having split two games with Modesto last Sunday and Monday before dropping three out of four games to Lake Elsinore in a series that concluded last night. Close Calls The Giants have led or been tied in the eighth inning in three of their four losses during the homestand. All four defeats have come by one or two runs. San Jose is a league-worst 4-8 (.333) in one-run games this season. The Giants are 7-13 (.350) in games decided by one or two runs. LAST GAME June 3 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 - R H E Lake Elsinore 0 0 0 2 0 2 0 1 0-5 10 0 San Jose 0 1 0 0 0 2 0 0 0-3 8 1 WP: Lauer (2-3) LP: McCasland (2-5) S: Blueberg (6) Lake Elsinore s Michael Gettys hit a go-ahead two-run home run in the top of the fourth and the Storm never looked back en route to a 5-3 win over the Giants on Saturday evening at Municipal Stadium. Gettys homered for the fourth time in the last two nights as Lake Elsinore earned the series victory. Storm starting pitcher Eric Lauer pitched six innings with three runs allowed to pick-up the win. Gio Brusa (2-for-4, 2B, HR, 2 RBI) hit his team-leading ninth home run of the season and delivered a run-scoring double to highlight San Jose offensively in the loss. Aramis Garcia also drove home a run with a double. Giants starter Jake McCasland suffered the loss despite matching a season-high with six innings pitched. McCasland surrendered four runs (three earned) during his start. At Muni Following last night s defeat, the Giants have now lost 13 out of their last 16 games at Municipal Stadium and own a league-worst 8-20 home record this year. San Jose last won back-to-back home games April 13-14 (first two home games of the season). The Giants only series win at home this year came when they took two out of three from Stockton April 12-14. San Jose is batting.236 at home (3.7 runs/game) this season compared to a.268 team batting average on the road (5.7 runs/game). San Jose has a 15-13 road record. Bryan Reynolds Hit Streak At 13 Games Bryan Reynolds brings a 13-game hitting streak into today s contest. Reynolds is batting.393 (22-for-56) during the streak with four doubles, one home run and nine RBI s. He s raised his season batting average from.259 to.296 over the course of the hit streak. Ryan Howard owns San Jose s longest hitting streak of the season when he hit safely in 14 straight games from April 21 to May 6. The Long Ball The Giants smacked seven home runs during their four-game series against Lake Elsinore to raise their season HR total to 53 second in the California League (Rancho Cucamonga leads with 57). Individually, Gio Brusa is tied for fourth in the league with nine home runs while Dillon Dobson is tied for sixth with eight homers. Jebavy Returns Ronnie Jebavy was added to San Jose s roster from Extended Spring Training on June 1. Jebavy made his 2017 season debut two days ago his first action since suffering a dislocated right shoulder in Game 1 of the North Mini Series last September (vs. Bakersfield). Jebavy played 127 games for the SJ Giants last season and hit.247 with 12 home runs, 47 RBI s and 24 stolen bases. He was also named the club s Defensive Player of the Year. 10 Below.500 San Jose s current three-game losing streak has dropped their overall record to 10 games below.500 at 23-33. Prior to the three-game slide, the Giants had won seven out of ten games. San Jose needs a victory today to avoid falling to a season-high tying 11 games below the.500 mark. Arenado Vs. Rockies Jonah Arenado has enjoyed tremendous success against the Rockies California League affiliate over the last two seasons. In six games versus Lancaster this year, Arenado is batting.423 (11-for-26) with three doubles, a home run and four RBI s. Last season against Modesto (Rockies affiliate), Arenado hit.330 in 22 games. Six out of his 17 home runs last year came versus the Nuts. Arenado s older brother, Nolan, is the starting third baseman for Colorado and has hit 20 home runs in 76 career games against the San Francisco Giants.
