In December, the South Sound Series Vashon Island race was held at the Tacoma Yacht Club. TTPYC boats made a good showing and represented our club well. Nimbus (Harang) finished 1 st in class, Cherokee (Stewart) 2 nd in class, Equus (Conti) 1 st in class, Little White Rabbit (Grove) 3 rd in class. Nimbus, Cherokee and Equus also placed in the top 5 overall (all boats regardless of class, based on corrected time) with Nimbus taking 1 st overall! Congratulations! South Sound Series Race #2 Duwamish Head is this weekend and I think Steve Sisson is still in need of helpers to run the start of the race. If you can assist please contact Steve Sisson 26steves@gmail.com On the Docket for the Trustees this month: 1. Approval of the 2017 budget 2. Consideration of a request to make more funds available for the Club Cruises 3. Should more money be taken out of our Major Improvement Fund to support cub functions and #2? 4. Should TTPYC continue to sponsor the Mid Sound Sailing Social? If you have any thoughts, ideas, or concerns about the above please email me or any of the Trustees. We want to hear from you! I am looking forward to a fun 2017!!

Social Committee Janet Sisson, Chair Our next membership meeting is January 10 at Angelos in Burien, 6 PM for social followed by dinner and our program. This month, we will hear from D/Lt/C Matthew Lombardi, District 16 Executive Officer, P/C Seattle Sail and Power Squadron. Matthew and Pam Lombardi are full time and many year liveaboards. Pam has a physical handicap that made it necessary for them to rethink docking aids, mooring aids and communications to create a safe boating experience. Their methods are well received wherever they port and have been adopted by boaters of all skill levels. Several weeks after a presentation at the Seattle Boat Show, they received the following most excellent compliment. "Matthew, your seminar is responsible for saving our boating marriage. Using much of what we learned from you, we now find docking and undocking a pleasure and thank you for the insight!" As the new year begins, we turn our thoughts to cruising in the NW. You won't want to miss this one. Racing News Charles Hendrick, Assistant Race Fleet Captain (and a dedicated group of volunteers!) The race events for the next 3 months are listed below.. This calendar is quite a change from previous years. We have coordinated our calendar with CYC Tacoma so there are no schedule conflicts. We can now race their winter and fall races and they can race in our Spring Regatta and Commodore's Trophy Race. CYC Tacoma is moving their starting line from Commencement Bay to Dumas Bay to make it easier for TTPYC boats to get to the start line. Thanks to Tom Davis and Chuck Hendrick for making this happen. Our race book, with more details, has been updated and will soon be available. First on the calendar is the Duwamish Head race. As always we would welcome your help. Email me at 26steves@gmail.com for more information. The three CYC Tacoma races replace our old Windjammer Series and the SSS races remain the same as past years. The reason for this schedule change is hidden between the calendar lines. There is a uniform 2 week break between each race. Steve Sisson 206-218-8138
