Amateur & Youth OAQHA Members, I would like to give a big CONGRATULATIONS to all the youth who participated in the Youth World Show. Many awards were one not only on an individual basis but as a team as well. Well done kids! As most of you know, the All Novice and open all breed horse show will be held in Purcell on September 17. Jerry Erickson will be our judge and we have a full day of fun classes scheduled. See the attached show bill or visit the OQHA website for more details. On November 12, the Amateurs will be hosting our annual night at the races held at Remington Park. This event is open to everyone and is a ton of fun. More details to come! Hope to see everyone soon. Karen Ogle 2016 OAQHA President --------- Hi Everyone! I can t believe summer is already over and we are all starting a new year of school! I want to start off by saying congratulations on an amazing youth world!! I am so proud of the large group of Oklahoma team members that were able to bring in multiple finalist, top ten, and championship finishes in the arena this year. We watch each other work so hard at shows throughout the year, and it is so great to see all the hard work pay off and dreams come true for so many of our members. Also, I am so proud of everyone that helped out with our participation in the contests outside the show pen. I know that youth world can get very crazy and stressful, so it means so much that everyone takes the time to graciously help with things outside the arena. The boots designed by Meg Tebow won first place in the Justin boot decorating contest. All the hard work paid off! The jeans designed by Mimi Cate Copeland won first place in the Wrangler jean decorating contest. Our stall decorations ended up placing second thank you to everyone who attended that meeting and helped with sweeping throughout the week. Because of all of these placings and member attendance to things such as the ride the pattern clinics and other events throughout the week, we were able to win the division I overall team spirit award for the THIRD year in a row! Such an amazing accomplishment that everyone should be so proud of! Thank you once again to all of the people that donated to provide meals throughout the week and everyone who played a role in making it another successful youth world for our team this year. We really do have the best team! I am sad that this was my last youth world, but I could not have imagined a better note to end on. On a side note, congratulations to OQHYA Secretary Meg Tebow on her reelection as a Region 8 Director, and thank you to all our members that took the time to attend the AQHA Y.E.S. convention. Last but not least, there are several OQHYA members interested in putting together a NYATT team for Congress this year, so if you are interest please contact the office ASAP. Good luck once again as everyone gets back in the swing of school! Happy Trails! Ann Elizabeth Tebow 2016 OQHYA President
