NEWSLETTER Summer 2017, No 10 7 th April 2017 QR Code Club Meetings are generally held on the 1 st Wednesday of the month at 6pm in the club room- All Welcome! Next meeting: Wednesday 3 rd May In this issue: From the Editor CASC Secretary Coaches Corner Presidents Chat Our Publicity Officers Marcea and Amanda From The Editor With school swimming coming to an end for this season - this is a great opportunity to reflect on the amazing success our swimmers have had. We have had Zone, Regional, CHS/CCC Age Champions, numerous pbs and medals at all levels. Hopefully we will have more great results at CIS and All Schools in May. Congratulations to all our swimmers who took part in any level of school swimming and good luck to all those hoping to get a spot on the NSW Pacific Schools Team. A special mention to Natasha Burke who was injured just before her race in the 400 IM at CHS. Another swimmer accidently hit her googles and they broke leaving her with a nasty cut above the eye. She managed to regroup after getting it patched up by the life - guards and with a swollen eye, jumped in the pool 10 minutes later and won silver! Natasha was also awarded the Female Performance Achievement Award and received a boxful of goodies from Eyeline. Great job! Campbelltown Amateur Swimming Club Inc. PO Box 509, Campbelltown NSW 2560 Good luck to our National Team heading off to Brisbane next week. They have all worked so hard over the previous year and will now hopefully relax knowing that the preparation is done and that they are our champions whatever happens on race day! CASC Newsletter 1
Don t worry everyone- we will keep you all well informed of what they get up to! A big thank you to our coaches for all the effort, time and love they have put into getting our swim team ready both physically and mentally and also to our team manager Michelle who unfortunately won t be continuing in this role. April will mark two years since I took on the role of publicity officer and although I have really enjoyed the role- I am hoping that someone else will put their hand up on Saturday morning at the AGM and give it a go. It is really a great experience and it would be great for the newsletter to have a new voice. Amanda will continue and will be there to help anyone who does take on the challenge. I will also happily continue to post from events that I attend and start to enjoy reading the club newsletters again because I won t know the content off by heart! Thank you to everyone who has helped me in this role over the past two years- I couldn t have done it without your help! Cheers Marcea Club Secretary s Desk A huge thank you to the Carney Family for the fridge donation for our Club room. Emails and contact numbers - please make sure they are up to date. Club Calendar 28/4-Club Resumes- Free/back 5/5- Time Trials 12/5-Free/back 13/5- Summer Presentation evening Competition Calendar 8/4 Club Championships 9-13 April Australian National Championships 16-223 April- Australian Age Championships 7/5- Speedo Sprint Heats President s Chat Hi folks another season down. It has been a very successful summer for the club and I have particularly enjoyed hearing the results of our younger swimmers at the various levels of school swimming over the past month. We only have a two week break before our winter season commences. The program is available from the desk and online. Enjoy the Easter break and travel safely. Club Captains Forms for Club Captain nominations are now available at the desk and online. Nominations will close on the second winter club night with voting on the third winter club night. The only restriction is that to be nominated you must be 14 years pf age at the start of the winter season 28 April. Summer Presentation This year will be at Camden Golf Club on May 13th. It will be a sit down meal and dessert. Kids meal will be nuggets and chips and you can choose if your young ones will have a kids meal or an adults meal. We have forms available (at the desk and online) for you to reserve a place (you can return the form now and you can pay later). It is important to get the form in as we have a limit of 160 for the night. The club will subsidise all swimmers and adult members to the tune of $8. As always siblings and grandparents are more than welcome If you have any special dietary requirements please note that on the form. It will be a fun night and a great way to celebrate the last twelve months, hope to see you all there! Open and Age National Championships We wish our National swimmers all the best as they head up Brisbane. Patrick Donachie will be competing at Opens. We also have 9 swimmers (mentioned in Justin s report) competing at Age Nationals. This a great rewards for both coach and swimmers for the hard work they have put in over the past 12 months. Keep tuned into the clubs facebook site for result updates Club Uniforms They finally arrived and on the whole the gear looks good. I know that some had had sizing issue if you have let us know the club will purchase the uniform back and will on sell it. Given the communication and timeliness issues with Pontoon we will not continue with them. That is disappointing considering the work that was put into that. This will one of our foremost tasks over winter. Helpers on the BBQ Just want to thank Ted for helping me on the BBQ on Fridays that has been greatly appreciated. There is still room for anyone who wants to help. CASC Newsletter 4
