February, 2017 Volume 51 - Issue 2 Looking Back & Forward Over Many Years I appreciate this opportunity to share some of my Special Corvette Memories. My first interest in a Corvette started 38 years ago (1978) in a small town in Northern North Dakota near Saskatchewan, Canada. I was working in a small pharmacy with the Chevrolet garage right across the street. Remember, that was 1978 and that was the year of the 25th. Anniversary Pace Car Corvette. It listed for $13,653. - even then! There was a father and son ownership of this small town Chevrolet garage. They drove this Beautiful Demo car all over that little community. I remember looking out the front window of that pharmacy seeing that Silver & Black 1978 Pace Car Corvette driving up and down Main street.- There They Go Again! = as pictured below = Then in 1983 a friend came to visit on the farm with his Race Red 1960 Corvette Roadster - 283 Cubic Inch V8-4 speed manual. We went for a ride in this beautiful Convertible Roadster down the country road. See the below left picture. This is me in that 1960 Corvette - from the summer of 1983. But a Corvette for me, - Well, that would still be decades away. All I had, was a few Corvette brochures. Until that special day - on November 11, 2015 - when I was United with this Silver 2006 Corvette Coupe - the LS2-6 liter, 400 HP, 6 speed Automatic Loaded Economy Base Coupe. What a wonderful experience! However, most people don t realize that owning a Corvette can be addictive. This addiction lasts for life - with No known cure. The only treatment is extensive counseling like at the A.C.C.C. and of course, buying more Corvettes. Medically speaking, the Corvette causes a dramatic upward spike in a Neurotransmitter called Dopamine - in the pleasure center of the brain. This causes people to have an instant obsession with Corvettes. Fortunately, local clubs like the A.C.C.C. offer some maintenance support to help each other live relatively Normal Corvette Lives. So what Corvette is still in your future? Have you Hugged your Corvette today Quite Enthused, Marvin Soliah Page 4
