September 12, 2017 Devil s Pulpit Mark the date! The Bill Volk Celebration Golf Classic is back for its sixth great year on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. We anticipate balmy weather, fantastic golfing, and a lunch, dinner and general atmosphere that always make this an eagerly awaited event. Over the past five years we have raised more than $625,000 for Right To Play and directed it to programming in Tanzania. We are excited to announce that this year we are broadening the reach of the funds we raise half will continue to support Tanzanian programs and half will now be used to support Canadian Aboriginal communities through Right To Play s Promoting Life-skills in Aboriginal Youth (PLAY) program. The Bill Volk Celebration Golf Classic is organized and run each year entirely by Bill s large family and many friends, with love, to celebrate his memory. We very much hope that you will consider once again sponsoring this unique and worthwhile event. Right To Play is the leading international humanitarian and development organization using sport and play as tools to effect behavior and social change. Their trained coaches and community leaders implement programs which are designed to develop basic life skills, prevent diseases, teach conflict resolution and instill hope in children affected by war, poverty and disease. A Word About Bill Bill Volk (1958-2011) was born in Toronto and grew up in Montreal, Toronto and Winnipeg. He graduated from St. Paul s High School in Winnipeg and studied at the University of Manitoba and Creighton University where he earned his Bachelor of Commerce degree. After graduating with his MBA from the University of Western Ontario, he worked for a number of investment firms in Toronto, and was the Managing Director of Mergers and Acquisitions at RBC Dominion Securities at the time of his passing. Bill lived a full and active life, centered around his wife Wendy and their three children, Graham, Hannah and Ryan. He was generous with both his time and money through volunteer work and donations to numerous charitable causes. Bill loved sport, both as a fan to his Montreal Canadiens, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Green Bay Packers, and as active participant. Bill was an avid golfer who believed the game taught so many things building character; playing a game with integrity; maintaining a high level of sportsmanship and etiquette; as well as other life skills that are necessary to situations which arise both on and off the course. There are many ways to honour Bill s memory and a pleasant day on a golf course is one in which we hope you will join us. Sponsorship Package Lead Sponsor Bill and Wendy Volk Family Foundation $20,000 The Bill and Wendy Volk Foundation was established in 2011 in order to continue Bill s legacy of generously supporting worthwhile causes. We believe that Bill would enthusiastically support Right To Play and would be the first in line to sign up for a golfing event that is as well-run, fun and unique as only his family could make it. We are pleased to again be the Lead Sponsor of the Classic.
