IWU Homecoming is a great time for all IWU students, fraternities and sororities, registered student organizations (RSOs) and residence halls to get involved and show their TITAN Pride! The IWU Homecoming Student Coalition is excited to once again provide a homecoming that exceeds your expectations! There will be multiple social activities as well as opportunities to compete against other student organizations/halls. The 2016 Homecoming Week is September 26 th through October 2 nd. This packet includes a schedule of events, explanations and the rules for each event as well as their point values. Your student organization/residence hall may participate in one event or all of the events. The more events you participate in the better chance you have of winning! For group activities, student organizations/residence halls need to complete the online registration form by the Wednesday, September 21 st. Homecoming is a great time to come together in different activities to celebrate Titan Green Over Everything #TGOE. We hope you will join us! GO TITANS! GENERAL RULES & GUIDELINES CRITERIA FOR PARTICIPATION ALL competitors for a team must be an undergraduate member of the RSO or fraternity/sorority or a resident of the residence hall. Noncompliance will result in disqualification from all events. HOMECOMING TEAM CAPTAIN INFORMATION Each participating organization should have at least one (1) representative as a Homecoming Team Captain. This individual will be the primary contact for the organization throughout Homecoming Week. The name, email, and cell phone number for this individual should be turned in with the Homecoming Registration Forms. PARTICIPANTS AND SPECTATORS 1. Intoxicated participants and spectators of Homecoming hinder the success and enjoyment of the event, and in addition, act as a poor reflection of Illinois Wesleyan students. 2. Each organization is responsible for turning in all required forms. INCLEMENT WEATHER INFORMATION Cancellation or postponement of an event due to weather or other circumstances is the domain of the event coordinators. Notice of such cancellations or postponements will be made directly to each Homecoming Team Captain(s). HOMECOMING COURT INFORMATION NOMINATIONS Open nominations for Homecoming Court will be accepted from Friday, September 4 through Wednesday, September 21 by 8:00 am. Candidates may, but are not required, to be nominated by an organization or hall. A selection committee will narrow down the nominees through an application review and interview process to select the 2016 Homecoming Court. The student population will then elect the King and Queen from the Court during Homecoming Week. CRITERIA FOR HOMECOMING COURT NOMINEES Full-time student & senior standing Cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 10 signatures supporting student for Court Application with campus involvement Head Shot Resume (optional) The nominated individuals should be those Titans that best represent the mission and values of IWU. These students should represent the entire campus well. 4

EXPECTATIONS Homecoming Court consists of 10 seats 5 Queen candidates and 5 King candidates. Nominees will be notified of their nomination and asked if they accept. If you are voted as a member of the Homecoming Court, you will be expected to attend the following events during the week of Homecoming. Events marked with an * are only required for the King and Queen. Homecoming Pizza Taste Off for the announcement of Court on Wednesday, September 28 th at 5:45 pm Titan Games/Titanium Pep Rally for the coronation of King & Queen on Friday, September 30 th at 7:15 pm *Homecoming Football Game: Saturday, October 1 at 1:00 pm - halftime *Homecoming Women s Soccer Game: Saturday, October 1 at 4:00 pm - halftime *Homecoming Men s Soccer Game: Saturday, October 1 at 6:30 pm - halftime DEADLINES Nomination forms are due by 8:00 am on Wednesday, September 19th. This is to allow those nominated to have time to complete their Nomination Acceptance forms which are due by 4:30 pm on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 23. Balloting: Each student will have the opportunity to cast a vote for the King candidate and Queen Candidate of their choice using an email prompt. DATES FOR VOTING: Voting for Homecoming King & Queen will be online and will take place from 6:15 pm on Wednesday, September 28 th to 5:00 pm, Friday, September 30 th. 5

EVENT DESCRIPTIONS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 26 TH THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 TH Decorating Contest The Homecoming Decorating Contest is an event designed to generate Titan Spirit. Each campus office, residence hall and chapter house is encouraged to participate in order to earn points for their homecoming team and have a chance to win a traveling trophy in their category. Each of the areas will have a winner, and from those a campus winner will be chosen. There will be a plaque in Hansen with the name of the overall campus winner displayed. Rules Some materials will be provided to each team (ex: banner and window paint). If a team chooses to purchase other materials, the items must not violate university/residence hall policy. All window paint should be the same brand as was originally given. All offices, windows, and banners should be cleaned up by Monday October 12 th at 10:00 am by the team. Residence Halls will decorate a window in their building and Fraternities/sororities and RSOs will decorate a banner. Vulgarity and inappropriate images or statements will not be tolerated in this competition. The judges will have the authority to ask the team to remove any decoration that is deemed inappropriate. If you have a question about what might or might not be appropriate please contact Alanna Hill at ahill4@iwu.edu. All decorations should be ready for judging prior to Thursday, September 29 th at 4:00 pm for lobbies and banners. For lobby decorating, access must be provided to judges between 4:00 pm and 5:30 pm. Banners must be displayed outside of living units, or for RSO, submitted to the Hansen Student Center Information desk by the judging deadline. There are 10 possible points in each of the five categories, totaling 50 possible points. The categories are: Titan pride Arrangement of decorations and/or use of space Inclusion of theme Sustainability of materials used Originality and creativity The judging will be based strictly on decorations of the office/hall/house space. Actors will not play a role in the scoring of the space. The theme is Homecoming of Heroes. Winners will be announced at the Lip sync event on September 29 th. WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 TH Homecoming Pizza Taste Off 6:00 pm 8:00 pm (or when the pizza is gone) Center Court, Hansen Student Center The Pizza Taste Off will once again highlight the premiere pizza places in Bloomington and Normal. Samples representative of various pizza vendors will be distributed. Do not forget to vote for your favorite as you leave the event. The Homecoming Court will be announced at 6:15 pm to kick-off the event. 6

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 TH Lip Sync 8:30 p.m. Center Court, Hansen Student Center The Lip Sync competition is designed to display the creative skills of teams by having them create an original dance routine while lip syncing to music that ties into the year s theme. Lip Sync consists of two rounds. The first round is a performance selected by the team. The second is a lip sync battle round in Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon style. RULES 1. Failure to abide by the following rules may result in disqualification of that team. 2. Round 1 a. Each team may contain no more than 20 people. If you are paired with other organizations, members from each organization must be involved in the performance. b. Your performance may not exceed five (5) minutes. Teams will have 2 minutes prior to and following their performance to set up and tear down. Every minute exceeding the five minute limit will be penalized 10 points. 3. Round 2 a. Each team needs 1 female and 1 male (for Greek teams 1 member from each chapter) who will compete in a lip sync battle for 30 seconds. The songs will be chosen at random at the start of the second round. b. This follows a Battle format in that performances will alternate between participants. c. Scores for all team members will be combined and averaged to determine the total points for this round. 4. The Homecoming Committee has the right to refuse ANY song that is not appropriate for the activity (i.e. containing excess profanity, in bad taste, etc.). Any props, behavior, statements or apparel worn by participants that is deemed inappropriate by the Committee will also result in immediate disqualification. No dances, props and costumes may include any reference to drugs or alcohol. Failure to adhere to these guidelines may result in disqualification. Keep it clean this event will have families in attendance! 5. Music for the team selected performance must be specified on the entry form. No two teams may use the same song. In case of duplicate entries, the entry received first will take precedence. 6. NO Mash-ups! You are being judged on your performance of one song. 7. Each team must turn in their final music selection by 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 28 th either on a CD with the correct starting time or by emailing your song choice with the correct time stamps to fspb@iwu.edu. Each CD MUST be labeled and be accompanied by a track list. You MUST check your CD to make sure it will play on a device other than the computer you burned it to. JUDGING CRITERIA For each Round, the three judges will judge the teams on lip sync, appearance, performance, and audience reaction. JUDGES DECISIONS WILL BE FINAL! Lip Sync (0-30 points): Is the group performing in unison? Do they know the words? Appearance (0-25 points): Does the appearance of the team resemble that of the musical group being imitated? Are any of the following utilized: costumes, banners, instruments or stage props? Performance (0-25 points): Are there choreographed movements and acting? Are there choreographed dance moves? Throughout each performance judges will be taking obscene or distasteful dances into consideration. At their discretion, they may deduct points for distasteful actions. 7

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 TH 66 th Annual Titan Games & the Titanium Pep Rally! 7:30 pm Wilder Field at Tucci Stadium Join the members of the IWU campus community for the return of the Titanium Pep Rally and the annual Titan Games featuring an expanded line-up this year. We will kick things off with the Titanium pep Rally featuring the IWU Cheerleaders & Dance Team, Tommy the Titan, with words from the Football and Men s & Women s Soccer coaches, and all sports captains teaching the audience the IWU Fight Song. The Titanium Pep Rally will end with the coronation of the 2016 Homecoming King & Queen. Joining the crowd favorite events such as NPC Sorority Scramble, Acacia/Tau Kappa Epsilon/Theta Chi/Sigma Pi Chariot Races, and the Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI)/Sigma Chi Rope Pull. Clash of the Classes will begin at 7:55 pm. Sorority Scramble will begin at 8:20pm. Chariot Race will begin at 8:30 pm. Rope Pull will be 8:45 pm. Please note start times may be subject to change. Teams should arrive to Tucci Stadium 10 minutes prior to their event time. SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1 ST Captain Ryan A. Beaupre`95 Memorial Scholarship 5K Run/Walk 8:15 am IWU track at Tucci Stadium The run/walk starts at the IWU track at Wilder Field located in the 400 block of Titan Drive. Proceeds benefit the Captain Ryan A. Beaupré Memorial Scholarship Fund. Registration through the Alumni Office is required. #TitanFamily Fun On The Eckley Quad 8:30 am Noon Eckley Quad Fun for kids from age 2 to 102. Free Pancake/Sausage Breakfast from 8:30-10:30 am. Enjoy the Titan Pep Band, IWU Cheerleaders, Tommy Titan, The Wild Style face painters, balloon artist, inflatables, Chemistry Club, Physics Club and more. Explore 166 years of IWU artifacts at the Mini Museum Tent and browse through past editions of the Wesleyana. Some past Wesleyana editions will be available for free as long as they last. 8
