The Glyn Rudd Memorial Shoot incorporating the Glamorgan Field Championships 4 th and 5 th March 2017 UK Record Status shoot Hosted by Pentref Bowmen Venue: The Glyncornel Centre, Llwynypia, R.C.T., South Wales. Lady Paramount: Mrs Margaret Rudd Chairman of Judges: Mrs Pam Tonkin Judges panel: Mr Kevin Bridgman, Miss Jean Howells The competition was well attended and was delivered smoothly. There were no major incidents reported and no injuries sustained which needed First Aid treatment. The conditions under foot were poor after the area sustained heavy rainfall for several weeks prior to the competition. The weather on the Saturday was showery and cold with the forecast of heavy rain for the Sunday. The judges considered the Health and Safety implications of using the more severe slopes after the footfall sustained on the already muddy mountainside made conditions very slick. The decision was taken to take out 3 of the more inaccessible targets and replace them with targets nearer the club house on better footing. This made the course much more manageable. However, heavy rain throughout Sunday which included hailstones, made for a very muddy mountainside at the end of the shoot. Despite that, no injuries were sustained as a result of any falls on the course. Pentref Bowmen would like to thank it s members who constructed the course for the weekend in extremely difficult weather conditions, also the competitors who helped to carry the course back to the club house at the end of Sunday s shooting. It is very much appreciated. Pentref Bowmen would also like to thank the kitchen volunteers for their tireless work and excellent fare yet again This was the first year of hosting the Glyn Rudd Memorial shoot and his widow was on hand to assume the role of Lady Paramount, Pentref Bowmen would like to thank Margaret for performing her role admirably. A trophy was commissioned by the Club which will be presented annually to a different style in turn every year. This year s was won by the Gents longbow participants in the guise of Charlie Coombs.
