BUNDYNEWS THE BUNDALAGUAH CRICKET CLUB NEWSLETTER ISSUE 30 > JUNE 2016 Above: Ahhh yes, gotta love that feeling! Our Second XI are all smiles after going back-to-back. Premiers x 3! Well season 2015/16 has come to a close, and it was yet another successful one for our club with all 7 of our senior and junior sides making the finals. The U/14 s and Fourth XI Yaks were knocked out in the Semi s, while the First XI and U/16 s went down in close Grand Finals. The Second XI, Third XI and Fourth XI Bulls all took home the flag. It was back-to-back for our Second XI, while it was the magical three-peat for our Third XI and Fourth XI s. Our club is in a real golden era at the moment, winning 9 of the last 12 senior SMCA flags. Success doesn t come easy as we know, with plenty of really good people at the club working their guts out. Full credit to our hard-working committee, our captains for their organisation and getting the best out of the boys, and also especially our senior coaches Alex Young and Sam Bedggood who s effort and dedication throughout the season played a massive part in our success. A big pat on the back also to our junior coaches, Tony Anderson and Mat Dowsett in the U12 s, Jacko Devisser in the U/14 s, Gaz Williams in the U/16 s and Tash Dowsett for looking after all of the little Junior Bulls running around. With a strong committee, great culture, plenty of good players and some super talented juniors coming there s no reason to think we won t be a force again in 2016/17. Bring it on! Skipper Sax! We are excited to announce that Ben Saxon has been appointed Club Captain for 2016/17. Saxon has been very impressive both on and off the field in his two years at Bundy, and becomes only the 24th player to be named as Club Captain in our long and proud history. Saxon replaces Matt Dowsett who has stepped aside after a successful four years at the helm, in which time he guided us to three grand finals for two flags. Dowsett will remain with the club in a playing role. We can also announce that Alex Young has been reappointed as Senior Coach and Sam Bedggood has been reappointed as Assistant Coach. Both boys did an outstanding job last season, getting all 5 of our senior sides into the finals, with us eventually winning three premierships. Congratulations to the boys on their appointments. Training will kick off in early August as we ramp up for a big 2016/17. Go Bundy!

CLUB Champions! Daniel Bedggood and Dylan Rowley put their names forever into the history of our club when they TIED for the prestigious Paul Guest Memorial Club Champion Award at our Presentation Night. It was the first win for both boys, and they join a wonderful group of players to achieve the honour. 10 8 6 5 3 2 1 Barrie Wrigglesworth Nathan King Trevor Wrigglesworth Ian Wrigglesworth Steve Zimmer Greg Wrigglesworth, Andrew Stephenson, Matt Dowsett Les Langshaw, Robert Stewart, Stuart Wrigglesworth, Glen Moon, Matt Ennion, Geoff Abrahall, Travis Blackwell, Mark Donald, Ben Saxon, Daniel Bedggood, Dylan Rowley

TOP 10 15/16 Well, it s the list that means absolutely nothing... but for your reading pleasure here is the completely unofficial list of our Top 10 performances for 2015/16 as determined by the BundyNews! 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Gazza Williams 4/37 (Incl. Hat-Trick... Yes, a Hat-Trick!) Could it really be anything else, I mean honestly. This hat-trick single-handedly inspired every single person at the club and was definitely the main reason we won 3 flags. Adrian Burgiel 100* vs College Probably the best knock of the season this one. Must win pressure game late in the season against the ladder leaders to lock in our finals spot. Great stuff from a real pro! Jimma Matthews vs Mad Monday If this bloke wasn t a legend before Mad Monday he definitely is now. Champion performance by a seasoned veteran. 3 Votes. Nick Fowler 56, 4/29 vs College (GF) Scores high on the list due to the fact it was in the big dance. Great all-round effort in a tight game to power the boys onto their third straight flag. Jimma Matthews 106 vs RK (SF) Skipper s knock in the Semi Final which from all reports was actually on a pretty difficult deck. As mentioned above, he is a legend. Lachie Wrigg 116*, 2/6, 7/14 vs Longford Match of a lifetime for Big Wrigg, but slips down this list due to the fact it probably wasn t against the strongest opposition at the time. Big effort, followed by a big night! Mat Dowsett / Mitch Rowley 100 Partnership vs Stratford Broke the 10th wicket First XI partnership record for our club with a gutsy performance that also saw them win this season s Christine Schilg Award for most determined effort. Nathan Proctor 135 vs Maffra Big ton here which saw smooth operator Proc bag the coveted Joe Hymus Award for highest individual score of the season. Craig Rowley 49 v College (GF) The big muscle man was in doubt on Thursday night with a bad back, but in typical Rowls style he shrugged it off to play, win a flag, and also man of the match honours. Legend. 10. Daniel Burnett - Worm Burnsy s worm in the dancing contest at the Music Trivia night was simply a thing of beauty. Total respect Burnsy.

Premier Buddah Exciting news for one of the club s favourite sons Nathan Buddah Massey who has accepted an offer to line up with the Greenvale Kangaroos in Premier Cricket this season. While he will be greatly missed on the field for us, he will still be training at the club and we will be providing regular updates on his performance. Buddah joins a long list of Bundy players who have taken the next step and challenged themselves at district level, and he will be lining up against some of the State s best players. Hopefully his head will be able to fit through the doors when he comes back! Best of luck Buddah, we hope they give you the #1 shirt!
