ב"ה TLC Nursery Class Newsletter 19 th October 2018 ל ך-ל ך - Lecho Lech Dear Parents and Grandparents, We hope you had a lovely week! Masterpiece Monday: This week s sedra of Lech Lecho has been about a great man called Avraham, who travelled to the land of Canaan as Hashem instructed, leaving his home behind. The children had to choose their left or right foot, and dip it in paint to make a footprint of their travels. They then sprinkled sand over the print, in recognition of Avraham s journey. They absolutely loved the excuse to get covered in paint, and couldn t wait to send their little creations home to you! Page 1 of 7

Monday is also our maths day, so the children had fun going on a colour hunt in their room with their class friends, and counting how many items they managed to find of each colour. Tasty Tuesday: The children had such amazing fun practicing their rolling and cutting skills with their tasty activity this week. Working together they rolled out their cookie mix, and cut out feet shapes with cookie cutters. They then gave them a coating of honey to take home. They may not have been quite so foot like after cooking, but they enjoyed them none the less. Tuesday is also our Geography day, so we sat the children down today to talk to them about flags, and how each country has a flag of their own. They watched a fun flag video, and then we showed them Israel s, France s, and England flags. They loved Japan s flag the most saying look at the red circle flag. Page 2 of 7

Wise Wednesday: Going with the colour theme this week, we decided to do a poster of Elmer the elephant to decorate our nursery room, but to make it fun we turned Elmer into a puzzle the children had to put back together at the end. They had so much fun with all the bright coloured paints, making sure they picked out the correct arts and crafts for each colour. They then correctly put the puzzle pieces back together. We were so impressed! Wednesday is our English day so the children got stuck in, searching for letters among bowls of sand, sea shells, and jelly water balls. They then had to sound out the phonic and tell us the letter they had. The children gained loads of confidence recognizing the letters like this, and couldn t wait to show us their knowledge of their alphabet. Thrilling Thursday: This Thursday our science experiments were bubbly, colourful, watery fun, and the children loved every second of it. The pre schoolers had two science experiments to get involved with. We melted crayons with hair dryers, on black card to create some beautiful wax work to remember. Page 3 of 7

We then has fun dripping coloured vinegar into a pan of baking soda, and watched the reaction take place. The children has plenty to say about what they could see. wow, it bubbles said Avital, and Alex said me, me, I want to make some bubbles. Shabbos Friday: Shabbos mummy and daddy were Shira Shaina and Danny Book of the week: We chose Tell the time with Pooh to start showing the children how to recognize a clock, and some of the basics involved in telling the time. The children were really quick to pick up on the clock hands and what they do. Page 4 of 7

Show and Tell Ariella was the key child for Show and Tell this week, and she had some amazing things to say to us about her interactive laptop from home. It s a laptop. It makes music when I do this, and she says the alphabet. It has a circle, and a heart. They are shapes, and they have numbers. I write on my laptop at home, but I can here too. Next week s key child is : Aaron As always we hope you have a lovely Shabbos and weekend, and we look forward to another fun week with the children. We would also like to remind parents that we encourage Mitzvah notes to be sent in with your young ones, they always love hearing praise from home. Can we also remind parents again to label every item sent in with their children. We are doing Key children for show and tell each week now. If parents could make sure to check the newsletter for their child s name, and send them in with an item from home. The children will get to stand and talk to their class about their special item each week. TLC Nursery Class team: Tracy, Becky, Paulette, Nikki, Ayse, Kristina, Rachel GALLERY EXTRA Page 5 of 7
