26 th February, 2015 Week 5, Term 1 The Humbug Principal: Mr. Brett Davies Condobolin Rd, Ungarie NSW 2669 Ph: (02) 69 759 030 Fax: (02) 69 759 157 Email: ungarie-c.school@det.nsw.edu.au Web: www.ungarie-c.schools.nsw.edu.au News this week We are having some exciting times here at UCS, with applications rolling in for our two executive positions. I look forward to sitting with our panels and selecting the perfect candidates for our school! Clean Up Australia Day: Ungarie Central School will be hosting its own Clean Up Australia Day on the 27 th February. At 12:50pm, students will grab some rubber gloves and garbage bags and give the place a once over! Once we are complete, everyone can have a free sausage sizzle sounds like a good deal to me! Website update: We will be having a website update over the coming weeks. The look of the page will still remain the same, but the content from years gone by will be removed and fresh information on teaching and learning and whole school business updated. We appreciate your patience! Habit of Mind Awards: Each Friday, staff hand out Habit of Mind Awards to their students. Each fortnight, a different learning muscle is focused on, so make sure you check them out!

Super Spellers Yr 1 Caitlin Rossiter, Hannah Wilson, Madison Vinecombe, Rachel Ridley, Dylan Carroll 2/3/4 Zoe McRae, Ethan Robb, Jayda Brew, Harry Roscarel, Noah Bryant, Jordyn Worley, Ella Payne, Hayley Wallace 5/6 Tess Henley, Jye Hoskinson Primary Sport Tomorrow our Primary Tennis team and Mr Cattle head into West Wyalong to play Wyalong Public School. We wish them the best of luck! Hats All students must wear a wide brim hat when outside at school. Remember: no hat, no play! Collaboration For the next two weeks students at Ungarie Central School will be learning about the importance of collaboration. When you use this learning muscle you respect the point of view of others and share information. It is about understanding the ground rules of group work. When you are collaborating you are aware of how you respond to others and you manage your feelings effectively. Collaboration encourages students to cooperate, take turns, express their feelings, empathise and listen. Water Bottles With the continuing hot weather it is important that students bring a water bottle to school. These may be taken into classrooms if they contain water only. Recorder Group Our recorder group practices are in full swing, with all expression of interest notes returned and all places filled. All recorder group members are expected to attend practices and display exemplary behaviour at all times to ensure they will remain in the group. Lunch Box Tip If you are sending tuna for your child please take it out of the tin and put it into a container as they are difficult to open and the lids are very sharp. Reminders Students are reminded to bring a paint smock to keep their school clothes paint free and a library bag for library borrowing. 2/3/4 Our class has been working on our Literacy so far this term, focussing on the book of Roald Dahl, The Enormous Crocodile. It is a great story about a very hungry (and enormous!) crocodile that comes up with some ingenious plans to acquire some lunch. His favourite food is nice, juicy little children! As the photo shows, Emma has done a wonderful job with our back wall. It has come up a treat! When we have finished making our enormous crocodiles, we will display them here, as well as some writing pieces that will be done soon.
