We had a great turn out of families and friends! Thank you for making that such a special evening for our children! They loved having all of you in their classrooms and around their campus! We were overwhelmed with the attendance at each grade level, and so thankful for families that support and take an interest in the many events that we have here at Fiest so THANK YOU! Also, our students will practice our mandatory drills; Lockout, Lockdown, Fire drill/evacuate, Shelter in Place (Hazmat) and Shelter in Place (Weather). Fire Drill/Evacuate will occur monthly. Our first round of drills are announced and walked/talked through with students to prevent frightening the children. Please review the following points with your child: 1. Explain the purpose of drills are used if there is a potential danger on campus and it is a way to keep everyone safe. 2. Students are not to panic. They should remain calm the entire time. 3. Students are to listen carefully to all directions given to them by their teachers. This is not a time to play and be silly. Thank you for helping us stress the importance of safety drills and following directions during the drills. Mark Henry, Ed.D. Superintendent of Schools September 6, 2018 Dear Employer: Parent-teacher conferences for all elementary schools are scheduled in Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. for Monday, October 8, 2018. The Board of Trustees, the staff, and I believe strongly in the value of formally scheduled conferences held, at least in part, during regular school hours. Using a full day of parent conferences allows flexibility for parents as conference slots are available from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The National Commission of Children in a report states, Children do best when they have a personal involvement of their parents. Our own studies in Cypress-Fairbanks I.S.D. confirm the benefits to children when their parents interact with teachers and actively work with the school to support their children s academic success. Benefits we hope to achieve through parent-teacher conference include the following: Parent and teacher will establish a cooperative relationship and open communication. Parent and teacher will share insights into factors affecting student academic success, such as learning style and personality traits. The face-to-face interaction will promote parent and teacher cooperation in assisting the child to be academically successful. I respectfully request that you provide your employee/cypress-fairbanks parent with release time (or a flexible schedule) on October 8, so he/she may participate in a parent-teacher conference. The Board of Trustees, the staff, and I would greatly appreciate your cooperation. Sincerely, Mark Henry, Ed.D. Superintendent 10300 Jones Road, Houston, Texas 77065 P. O. Box 692003 (281) 897-4000 Houston, Texas 77269-2003

Mark Henry, Ed.D. Superintendent 10300 Jones Road, Houston, Texas 77065 P. O. Box 692003 (281) 897-4000 Houston, Texas 77269-2003
