Saturday 16 November 2019: For those flying from South Africa, we meet mid-morning at OR Tambo International Airport for checkin. Our Singapore Airlines flight departs at 13:45 and, after enjoying a Singapore Sling and a light meal, we settle in for some quality entertainment on SilverKris or get comfy for a night s rest. Sunday 17 November 2019: We land around sunrise in Singapore and have a short stop at the world s best airport Changi. Our onward flight to Danang in Vietnam is onboard Silk Air, the excellent shorthaul division of Singapore Airlines, and we re due to land in Vietnam by 10:30. After collecting our bags and clearing customs, we take a short air-conditioned coach trip to our home for the tour the beautiful town of Hoi An. Monday 18 November 2019: After breakfast and a slow start, we hop on our bicycles to explore the region between town and the nearby Cua Dai beach. We ll cycle through the market, through both the old town and the more modern developments, and countless rice paddies and fields being tended to. Watch out for the zooming scooters, as well as the water buffalo (warning: no selfies with water buffalo!). Once at the beach, you ll get the chance for a refreshing drink, a nap under the palm trees and a dip in the East Vietnam / South China Sea before moving on. Enroute back to the hotel we ll stop at the ever popular riverside restaurant outside town called The Field where we will sit down to a taste experience, with a menu planned especially for us to take you through the flavours of Vietnam. It really is an incredible menu, and beautifully presented, which you are sure to enjoy in one of the most stunning and tranquil locations. After lunch, we ll head back to the hotel to drop off our bicycles before strolling to the boats for a cruise down to near the river mouth, passing a number of farms and a large fishing community along the way. The cruise is always a great vibe, and it s a great way to see some of the countryside. We turn and head back to cruise upriver, arriving in Hoi An as the lights start coming on with the sun setting behind the town. Always a beautiful sight! Tuesday 19 November 2019: This morning is spent at leisure. For those looking to have some clothes made / copied while in Vietnam, we ll take a walk to the best tailor in town. Sarah and her team will ensure you re looked after, and you ll be in awe of the endless supply of fabrics and patterns to choose from. We ve lost count of the dresses, suits, shirts, pants and other items made here over the years and everyone has always walked away super happy with their new wardrobe. The golfers will convene at lunch time to head to Ba Na Hills Golf Club, which was rated as the Best new course in the world in 2016 and the Best course in Asia in both 2017 and 2018. With great practice facilities, you ll also have the opportunity to loosen up before teeing off, should you wish to. As the name suggests, it s nestled in the hills and is as dramatic as it is incredible to play. Teeing off mid-afternoon, we ll tackle the dramatic first nine in daylight and turn as the lights come on and the sun dips behind the mountains turning an already stunning course into something breathtaking. Wednesday 20 November 2019: Today is totally for you to relax or explore, just as you wish. Chat to us if you re stuck for ideas but there is PLENTY exploring to be done be it on foot, by bicycle or by boat. If being able to return home and share the Vietnamese cuisine with family and friends is on your list, then sign up for the optional afternoon cooking class with Chef Danny. He s regarded the best teacher in town, not only because he is incredibly good but also because he is entertaining and everyone comes out from classes having learned a lot and having had a fantastic time. Thursday 21 November 2019: Today we play the brand new beachfront course, Hoiana Sands Golf Club. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, everything we have seen so far indicates another spectacular course and a beautiful addition to The Golf Coast of Vietnam. It s due to open in the middle of 2019, and you ll be among the first members of the public to play on the new links course which we are sure will rake in many awards, and give Ba Na Hills serious competition for The Best Golf Course in Asia title. Saturday 23 November 2019: For those keen to explore the culture of ancient Vietnam, this morning is the optional outing to the My Son ruins. While stories of its demise and destruction vary widely, this cluster of abandoned and partially ruined Hindu temples was constructed between the 4 th and 14 th century AD by the kings of Champa and believed to be the longest inhabited archaelogical site in Indochina. It is considered one of the foremost Hindu temple complexes in Southeast Asia, and one of the most important heritage sites of this nature in Vietnam. It was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999. Being the final day in Hoi An, there ll be last minute shopping, trips to the tailors to pick up the new wardrobe, drinks by the pool and the sharing of countless stories, and in some cases farewells to those extending on their own. Sunday 24 November 2019: This morning we head off after breakfast for our flight homeward, and arrive in Singapore midafternoon. sunset and also allows the rest of us else to go into Singapore for the evening and explore this amazing city.
