Safety Data Sheet Sodium Saccharin SECTION 1. IDENTIFICATION Product Identifier Other Means of Identification Product Code(s) Product Family Recommended Use Restrictions on Use Supplier Identifier Emergency Phone No. SDS No. Sodium Saccharin Saccharin sodium salt dihydrate SO6410 Organic Inorganic Solid Food additive. Alphachem Limited, 2485 Milltower Court, Mississauga, Ontario, L5N 5Z6, (905) 821-2995 CANUTEC CANADA, 613-996-6666, 24 Hours 1069 SECTION 2. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION Classification Not classified under any hazard class. Label Elements Not applicable Other Hazards SECTION 3. COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS Substance: Chemical Name CAS No. % Other Identifiers Other Names 1,2-Benzisothiazolin-3-one, 1, 1-dioxide, sodium deriv., dihydrate 6155-57-3 > 95 Saccharin sodium salt dihydrate SECTION 4. FIRST-AID MEASURES First-aid Measures Inhalation Remove source of exposure or move to fresh air. If experiencing respiratory symptoms (e.g. coughing, shortness of breath, wheezing), call a Poison Centre or doctor. Skin Contact Wash gently and thoroughly with lukewarm, gently flowing water and mild soap for 5 minutes. If skin irritation occurs, get medical advice or attention. Eye Contact Rinse the contaminated eye(s) with lukewarm, gently flowing water for 5 minutes, while holding the eyelid(s) open. If eye irritation persists, get medical advice or attention. Ingestion Page 01 of 06

Ingestion Rinse mouth with water. Get medical advice or attention if you feel unwell or are concerned. First-aid Comments All first aid procedures should be periodically reviewed by a doctor familiar with the material and its condition of use in the workplace. Get medical advice or attention if you feel unwell or are concerned. Most Important Symptoms and Effects, Acute and Delayed Immediate Medical Attention and Special Treatment Special Instructions General advice, consult a physician. Show this safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance. Move out of dangerous area. SECTION 5. FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES Extinguishing Media Suitable Extinguishing Media Carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder, appropriate foam, water spray or fog. Unsuitable Extinguishing Media Specific Hazards Arising from the Product Heating increases the release of toxic vapour. In a fire, the following hazardous materials may be generated: very toxic carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide; corrosive, oxidizing nitrogen oxides; corrosive sulfur oxides. Special Protective Equipment and Precautions for Fire-fighters Fight fire from a safe distance or a protected location. Approach fire from upwind to avoid hazardous vapours or gases. Knock down vapours or gases with water fog or fine water spray. For a massive fire, immediately evacuate the area and use unmanned hose holder or monitor nozzles. Dike and recover contaminated water for appropriate disposal. Chemical protective clothing (e.g. chemical splash suit) and positive pressure SCBA may be necessary. SECTION 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Personal Precautions, Protective Equipment, and Emergency Procedures Use the personal protective equipment recommended in Section 8 of this safety data sheet. Increase ventilation to area or move leaking container to a well-ventilated and secure area. Remove or isolate incompatible materials as well as other hazardous materials. Environmental Precautions No special precautions are necessary. Methods and Materials for Containment and Cleaning Up Avoid generating dust. Collect using shovel/scoop or approved HEPA vacuum and place in a suitable container for disposal. Flush spill area. SECTION 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE Precautions for Safe Handling Wear personal protective equipment to avoid direct contact with this chemical. Avoid generating dusts. Only use where there is adequate ventilation. Prevent accidental contact with incompatible chemicals. It is good practice to: avoid breathing product; avoid skin and eye contact and wash hands after handling. Conditions for Safe Storage Store in an area that is: cool, dry, well-ventilated, separate from incompatible materials (see Section 10: Stability and Reactivity). Store in the original, labelled, shipping container. Page 02 of 06

SECTION 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION Consult local authorities for provincial or state exposure limits. Appropriate Engineering Controls General ventilation is usually adequate. Use local exhaust ventilation, if general ventilation is not adequate to control amount in the air. Individual Protection Measures Eye/Face Protection Wear chemical safety goggles and face shield when contact is possible. Skin Protection Wear chemical protective clothing e.g. gloves, aprons, boots. Respiratory Protection An approved respirator suitable for protection from dusts and mists may be adequate. The respirator use limitations specified by the approving agency and the manufacturer must be observed. Follow the NIOSH respirator regulations found in 29 CFR 1910.134 or European Standard EN149. Always use an approved respirator when necessary. SECTION 9. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES Basic Physical and Chemical Properties Appearance White crystals. Odour Odourless Odour Threshold ph 6.0-7.5 (10% solution) Melting Point/Freezing Point (melting); (freezing) Initial Boiling Point/Range Flash Point > 200 ºC (392 ºF) Evaporation Rate Flammability (solid, gas) Upper/Lower Flammability or (upper); (lower) Explosive Limit Vapour Pressure Vapour Density (air = 1) Relative Density (water = 1) Solubility Very soluble (more than 50 g/100 ml) in water; (in other liquids) Partition Coefficient, 0.45 (calculated) n-octanol/water (Log Kow) Auto-ignition Temperature Decomposition Temperature 230-235 ºC (446-455 ºF) Viscosity (kinematic); (dynamic) Other Information Physical State Solid Molecular Weight 241.19 SECTION 10.
