RULES & REGULATIONS 1. Every class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current USEF rulebook will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. Every class offered herein which is recognized by the CHJA/CHSA/NEHC will be conducted and judged in accordance with the current CHJA/CHSA/NEHC rules. To show in CHJA & NEHC Medal classes, riders MUST be members. In order to compete for CHJA/CHSA/NEHC annual year-end awards, the owner of the horse or pony must be a member of the CHJA/CHSA/NEHC and the horse or pony must be registered with the CHJA/CHSA/NEHC. A copy of the CHJA/CHSA/NEHC Rule Books, class specifications, Medal class specifications, and membership applications are available at the show secretary s office and at www.chja.net, www.chsaonline.com, and www.nehc.info. 2. Every animal entered for competition shall be under the control of show management; but Oak Meadow Farm will in no way be responsible for any loss, accident, or damage that may occur by fire or otherwise and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor, spectator, trainer, and attendant hold Oak Meadow Farm, and its members, employees, and agents, harmless for any loss or damage that may occur to any persons, animals, or property at the show. 3. If any questions or disputes arise, same will be referred to the steward and show committee, whose decision shall be final. 4. Exhibitors are responsible for having accurate and current memberships for all organizations which require the same. Any fines leveled against the horse show for incorrect exhibitor memberships shall be the responsibility of the exhibitor. 5. $50 fee for any returned checks, or unpaid entries that must be billed. 6. Entries close 24 hours prior to show (8:30AM the day prior). Post entries $25. 7. Management reserves the right to begin Ring 2 prior to completion of the Ring 1 schedule with a second judge. Exhibitors will be notified. 8. Prize money will be credited to horse show bill. 9. ALL DOGS MUST BE ON LEASHES. CLASS DESCRIPTIONS All classes are run According to the rules and specifications of the CHJA, CHSA, NEHC, and M&S. BLUE/RED Warm-Up Hunter ($15 1 st trip, $20 2 nd trip, $25 3 rd trip, etc.) open all day, horses/riders may do as many trips as they like; Blue ribbon to horses/ponies with score of 76+; Red ribbon to horses/ponies with score of 75 or less. PLEASURE CLASSES Entry fee for Pleasure Classes $25/each 1, 2, 3. WALK/TROT PLEASURE (CHSA/NEHC C ) Open to riders 10 years and younger and who have not competed in classes requiring them to canter or jump. and Reserve 4, 5, 6. BEGINNER 11 & OVER PLEASURE (CHSA/NEHC C ) Open to riders who are eligible for Beginner 11 and Over Walk/Trot Equitation. Emphasis on suitability of mount to beginner rider. May be shown under English or Western tack. Walk, trot/jog only. and Reserve 7, 8, 9. CYNTHIA JENSEN CHSA ENGLISH PLEASURE (CHSA) Open to members and non-members riding horses or ponies. Walk, trot, and canter on a reasonably loose rein. May be asked to back, Judged on manners, performance, and suitability. and Reserve 10, 11, 12. HUNTER PLEASURE (CHSA/NEHC C ) Open to all horses of a hunter type ordinarily used for pleasure purposes with no limitations as to status of rider. Shown at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Light contact with horse s mouth is required. Judged on manners, performance, quality, presence, substance, and soundness. and Reserve 13, 14, 15. QUARTER HORSE HUNTER U/S (CHSA/NEHC C ) Open to Junior and Adult riders. All horses must be registered with the AQHA and are to be shown under their full registered name. Registration papers must be available for examination at any time during the show. Horses to be shown at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Horses should back readily and stand quietly. Light contact with the horse s mouth is recommended. Horses must be asked to change gaits while at the flat footed walk or from the trot at the Judge s discretion. Tests may include rein back, hand gallop, and halt. and Reserve

16, 17, 18. CHILDREN S PLEASURE PONY (CHSA/NEHC C ) Ponies are not to exceed 14.2h in height. Must be ridden by a Junior. Manners and suitability shall be emphasized in all classes, and extreme speed or excessive action shall be penalized. In order to maintain safety, any pony which bites, kicks, or is uncontrollable will be excused from the ring. Walk, trot/jog, canter/lope, to be shown on a reasonably loose rein. May be shown under English or Western tack. May be asked to back and stand quietly while rider dismounts and remounts. and Reserve 19, 20, 21. JUNIOR EXHIBITOR ENGLISH PLEASURE (CHSA) Open to Juniors riding horses or ponies. Walk, trot, and canter on a reasonably loose rein. May be asked to back. Judged on manners, performance, and suitability. and Reserve 22, 23, 24. ADULT ENGLISH PLEASURE (CHSA) Walk, trot, and canter on a reasonably loose rein. May be asked to back. Judged on manners, performance, and suitability. and Reserve 25, 26, 27. COLOR BREED PLEASURE (CHSA/NEHC C ) Open to Color Breeds only Palominos, Buckskins, Appaloosas, Paints, and Pintos. Horses must be registered with the appropriate breed organization. Entries must be serviceably sound. To be shown at a walk, trot/jog, and canter/lope. May be shown under English or Western tack. To be judged on performance and best color example of that breed. and Reserve 28. NEHC OPEN ENGLISH PLEASURE HORSE (NEHC) Open to members and non-members. HUNTER SEAT EQUITATION Entry fee for Hunter Seat Equitation classes $25/each 29. HUNT SEAT LEAD LINE (CHSA/CHJA) Open to riders who have not reached their 7 th birthday as of 12/1 of the current show year and have never shown in classes other than lead line at any recognized show. Riders may be asked to trot. Riders to be judged on elementary fundamentals of horsemanship. An adult is required to lead each entry. 30, 31, 32. WALK/TROT EQUITATION (CHSA/CHJA/NEHC B ) Open to riders 10 years and younger who have not competed in classes requiring them to canter or jump at a recognized show. Riders may not compete in any short stirrup classes. Riders will be asked to walk and trot in both directions of the ring. They will be judged on position and ability to control their mount. Diagonals will be considered. and Reserve 33, 34, 35. BEGINNER 11 & OVER EQUITATION (CHSA/NEHC B ) Open to all riders 11 and over who have never cantered in a recognized show. May be shown under English or Western Tack. Walk, trot/jog only. and Reserve SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION (CHSA/CHJA/NEHC B ) Open to riders 12 years and under who have never competed over fences exceeding 18 in a recognized show. Riders showing in this division may not compete in any other recognized division or recognized class in a show with fences exceeding 18 with the exception of pleasure and pet-type pony classes. Fences not to exceed 18. and Reserve 36. SHORT STIRRUP WALK/TROT/CANTER EQUITATION 37, 38, 39. SHORT STIRRUP CROSS RAILS EQUITATION LONG STIRRUP EQUITATION (CHSA) Open to riders 13 years of age and over who are in their first years of showing. Riders competing in Long Stirrup are not eligible for other classes at the same show with fence height exceeding 2. Judged over a course of four to eight cross rails or verticals placed alongside the rail. Maximum fence height not to exceed 2. Combination fences are prohibited. Trotting will not be penalized. and Reserve 40. LONG STIRRUP WALK/TROT/CANTER EQUITATION 41, 42, 43. LONG STIRRUP EQUITATION FENCES 137. 138. 139. WTC OPEN HUNT SEAT EQUITATION Open to junior and adult amateur riders who have never shown over fences in a recognized show. Riders entered in this division may not compete in any recognized over fence class. To be shown at a walk, trot, and canter both ways of the ring. Riders may show horses or ponies. Tests 1-5 may be asked at the judge s discretion.

PRE-CHILDREN S EQUITATION (CHSA/CHJA) Open to junior riders who are eligible for Limit Equitation over fences as of Dec. 1 of the current show year and have never shown over fences exceeding 2 6 at a recognized horse show. Riders may show horses or ponies. Fence height 2 0. At the same show, riders may not cross-enter into Children s Equitation, Modified Children s Hunter, Children s Pony Hunter, Pony Hunters, any Medal classes that exceed 2, or any class where fences exceed 2 6. No combinations permitted. and Reserve 44. PRE-CHILDREN S EQUITATION FLAT 45, 46, 47. PRE-CHILDREN S EQUITATION FENCES CHILDREN S EQUITATION (CHSA/CHJA/NEHC B ) Open to riders who are eligible for Children s Hunter, have not shown over a course where fences exceeded 3 at a recognized show, and have never shown in the CHJA Junior Medal Finals. Horses and large ponies 2 6 ; small/medium ponies 2 0. No combinations. and Reserve 48. CHILDREN S EQUITATION FLAT 49, 50, 51. CHILDREN S EQUITATION FENCES MODIFIED ADULT EQUITATION (CHSA/CHJA/NEHC B ) Open to Amateur Adult riders who, as of Dec. 1 of the current show year, have not shown in classes with fences 3 or higher at more than three recognized horse shows within the past two show years. Riders may not show in any other class where fences exceed 2 6 at the same show. Judge may request tests 1-7. Fences not to exceed 2 6. and Reserve 52. MODIFIED ADULT EQUITATION FLAT 53, 54, 55. MODIFIED ADULT EQUITATION FENCES AMATEUR ADULT EQUITATION (CHSA/CHJA/NEHC B ) Open to Adult Amateurs. Courses must contain at least six individual jumping efforts, with one change of lead and at least one combination. Fences 2 9-3. and Reserve 56. ADULT EQUITATION FLAT 57, 58, 59. ADULT EQUITATION FENCES JUNIOR EQUITATION (CHSA/CHJA) Open to all junior riders. Riders cannot cross-enter into the Children s Equitation Division at the same show. Fence height 3 0. and Reserve 60. JUNIOR EQUITATION FLAT 61, 62, 63. JUNIOR EQUITATION FENCES MEDAL CLASSES Entry Fee for Medal Classes $35/each CHSA MEDALS: Open to members and non-members, but only members accrue points. At least 3 riders must complete the class; at least one must be a CHSA member. Two tests (USEF 1-8) will be included in each course. Riders may compete in only one CHSA Medal class per show. 64. CHSA SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION MEDAL Open to riders 12 years and under as of December 1 of the current show year. Riders must be eligible for Short Stirrup Equitation and must not have shown over a course where fences exceeded 18 at a recognized show. The class will be held over a course of not less than eight x-rails or verticals at 18 in height. 65. CHSA PRE-CHILDREN S EQUITATION MEDAL Open to Junior Riders who have not reached his/her 18 th birthday. Riders must be eligible for Pre-Children s Equitation and must not have shown over a course where fences exceeded 2 6 at a recognized show. The class will be held over a course of not less than eight vertical fences at 2 in height. 66. CHSA CHILDREN S EQUITATION MEDAL Open to Junior Riders who have not reached his/her 18 th birthday. Riders must be eligible for Children s Equitation and must not have shown over a course where fences exceeded 3 at a recognized show. The class will be held over a course of not less than eight vertical fences at 2 6 in height. 67. CHSA MODIFIED ADULT EQUITATION MEDAL Open to Amateur Adult Members. Riders must be eligible for Modified Adult Equitation and have not shown over a course with fences 3 or higher at more than three recognized shows within the past two show years. The class will be held over a course of not less than eight vertical fences at 2 6 in height.

CHJA Medals: Open to members only. At least 4 riders must complete both the flat and fence phase. Judge will call back six competitors (if available) for the flat phase, to count 50%. The same horse/pony and rider must compete in both phases. Members may compete in only one CHJA Medal class per show. 68. CHJA JUNIOR MEDAL Rider to be a Junior Member of CHJA who has not reached his/her 18 th birthday. To compete over a course of not less than eight obstacles at 3 in height, which must include one combination including an oxer, and two changes of direction after the first fence. Judges may required additional testing using current USEF Tests 1-19. 69. CHJA CHILDREN S MEDAL Open to Junior members of the CHJA who are eligible for Children s Hunter, have not shown over a course where fences exceeded 3 at a recognized show, and have not qualified for or shown in a 3 Equitation Finals (including the CHJA Junior Medal). To compete over a course of not less than eight obstacles at 2 6 in height which must contain two changes of directions after the first fence with no combinations permitted. Judges may require additional testing using current USEF Tests 1-8. 70. CHJA PONY MEDAL Rider to be a Junior Member of CHJA who has not reached his/her 18 th birthday. To compete over a course of not less than six obstacles. Small ponies to jump 2, medium ponies to jump 2 3, and large ponies to jump 2 9. If combination is used, suggested distances for in and outs are 20 for small, 22 for medium, and 24 for large ponies. If the distance between obstacles is less than 72 then the distance must be adjusted for each height section. Judges may require additional testing using current USEF Tests 1-8. 71. CHJA ADULT MEDAL Rider to be an Amateur Adult Member of the CHJA. To compete over a course of not less than eight obstacles 3 in height, which must include one combination including an oxer, and two changes of direction after the first fence. Judges may require additional testing using current USEF Tests 1-19. 72. CHJA MODIFIED ADULT MEDAL Rider to be an Amateur Adult Member of the CHJA who is eligible for Modified Adult Equitation. To compete over a course of not less than eight obstacles 2 6 in height, which must include one combination and two changes of direction after the first fence. Judges may require additional testing using current USEF Tests 1-8. 140. CHJA PRE-CHILDREN S MEDAL Rider to be a Junior Member of the CHJA who has not shown over fences exceeding 2 6 at a recognized horse show. If a rider has ever qualified for or shown in a 2 6 Equitation Final including the CHJA Children s Medal, they are no longer eligible for the Pre-Children s Medal. To compete over a course of not less than eight obstacles at 2 0 in height, which must contain two changes of direction after the first fence with no combinations permitted. Riders may show horses or ponies. Judges may require additional testing using current USEF Tests 1-8. 73. NEHC ADULT MEDAL Open to Adult Amateur members of the NEHC. One or more individual tests of the top four contestants may be requested at the judge s discretion (USEF Tests 1-19). To fill a class, at least four competitors must complete the course. One win or 10 points required to qualify for finals. All contestants must wear proper attire. Once a contestant has won they are no longer eligible for Medal classes. Violation will forfeit eligibility for the finals for that year. Fences 2 9-3. 74. M&S ADULT MEDAL Open to Adult Amateurs. To be shown over a minimum of eight fences not to exceed 3, including a combination and at least two changes of direction after the first fence. Open numerical scoring in 1 st round. Top 4 or 20% of rides from first round will be required to perform at least two individual tests from USEF current tests 1-19. The same horse must be used in all phases. Only one rider per horse. Three riders must complete the course in order for points to count. 75. NEHC JUNIOR MEDAL Open to Junior members of the NEHC who have not reached their eighteenth birthday. All contestants are required to perform over at least eight fences not exceeding 3 3. One or more individual tests of the top four contestants may be requested at the judge s discretion (USEF Tests 1-18). To fill a class, at least four competitors must complete the course. One win required for the finals. All contestants must wear proper attire. Once a contestant has qualified they are no longer eligible for Medal classes. Violation will forfeit eligibility for the finals for that year. 76. M&S JUNIOR MEDAL Open to Junior Riders. To be shown over a minimum of 8 fences at 3 6 including a combination and at least two changes of direction after the first fence. Two or more tests of the top four competitors are required. The same horse must be used in all phases. Only one rider per horse. To fill the class, three riders must complete the course.

No cross-entry of rider in the M&S Children s Horse Medal at the same show. 79. M&S JUNIOR/AMATEUR HORSEMANSHIP MEDAL Open to Juniors and Amateurs. No cross-entry restrictions. Over fences phases to be shown over a minimum of eight fences at 3 3 including at least one combination (a double and a triple are preferred) and two changes of direction after the first fence. A Liverpool is encouraged. At least 12 riders, if available, to return to show on the flat. Flat phase to include the working walk, working trot sitting, working trot rising, working trot showing a lengthening of stride, working canter, working canter showing a lengthening of stride and the counter canter (no more than 12 to counter canter at the same time). The same horse must be used in all phases. Running martingale or standing martingale allowed in the jumping phase; no martingales allowed in the flat phase.
