The CHSA Finals is for Amateurs (in accordance with USEF Amateur Status Rules) and Juniors only, no Professionals will be allowed to enter and/or compete at the CHSA Finals. INVITATIONS: After July 30th, invitations will be emailed to new qualifiers on a daily basis as show results are received. You can check the status of what show results have been received and when the invitations were mailed for that show at www.chsafinals.com. If the invitations have been sent for a recently posted show, it will indicate "Invitations Sent" and the date. ENTRY FORMS - ARE BY INVITATION ONLY AND MUST BE PREPAID In order to reserve your place in the 2017 CHSA Finals, your completed entry form and check or payment via credit card must be received by Saturday, August 12th, 2016 by 12:00 pm Noon. All forms must be filled out in their entirety including all signatures and membership numbers. An entry for an exhibitor under the age of 18 must be signed by a parent or legal guardian. Mail entry forms and payment to: CHSA Finals PO Box 54 Danielson, CT 06239 Direct any questions to finals@chsaonline.com PAYMENT: Payment by check (made out to CHSA) must accompany all entries or online payment via paypal/credit card. If you pay online, you still must fill out, sign and mail, email or fax your entry. We do add a surcharge for all online payments. POST ENTRIES: Entries will not be accepted after the August 12th deadline or at the show. There will be no exceptions. GENERAL INFORMATION, RULES AND REGULATIONS EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT CHSA or USEF (when applicable) RULE BOOK, AND WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCE THEREWITH. STATEMENT OF HEALTH REQUIRED FOR ALL HORSES: In order for any horse to be on the grounds of the CHSA Finals a "Statement of Health" must be signed by a licensed veterinarian and dated on July 25th, 2017 or later. This form can be found online and in your invitation package. Bring three copies of the statement with you as it must be provided to the CHSA Secretary before they can give you your exhibitor number. Be sure to keep one of the copies in your truck or trailer for Statement of Health checks at the gate to the CHSA Finals show grounds. A "Statement of Health" must be signed by a Licensed Veterinarian and dated on July 25th, 2017 or later. Horses/ponies must have been enrolled in a regular and consistent program of vaccination against EHV-4/1 with the most recent booster being within 180 days of the event. Horses/ponies must have not shown symptoms of or been treated for EHV 4/1 in the past 28 days. Horses/ponies must not have not been exposed to any horses or ponies that have been treated for or shown symptoms of EHV 4/1 within the past 28 days Horses/ponies must have a negative Coggins within one year Horses/ponies must have a rabies vaccination within one year CLASS SHOW REQUIREMENTS: Each CHSA Final s class must have a minimum of 10 entries to be eligible to run at the CHSA Finals show and receive ribbons and prizes. If, at the entry deadline, there are fewer then 10 entries for a class, then the following will occur: Fewer then 10 entries but more than 4 at the entry deadline, the class will run w/one round. Fewer then 5 entries the class will not run and entry fees will be refunded. If the entry is only participating in one class the office fee and stall fees will also be refunded. If the entry is also participating in other classes only the cancelled class fee will be refunded. (ie 4 1 entries) NUMBERS: Specially assigned numbers for the CHSA Finals MUST be picked up from the CHSA Finals Secretary before the competition begins. The Show Secretary will be available on Thursday, August 24 from Noon until 4pm. The Secretary will also be available during the CHSA Finals on Friday, August 25; Saturday, August 26, and Sunday, August 27 from 7:30am 5pm. AWARDS: All classes will be pinned to 10th place. Awards will be presented upon the completion of each final round. SCRATCHES: Once entered, no horse or competitor may be withdrawn from the competition without permission of the CHSA Finals Committee. Any request to scratch must be made in writing and be accompanied by a confirmation of inability to compete from a Veterinarian or a Physician in the case of a rider's or horse s illness or injury 24 hours before the class starts. If approved, a full refund of class entry fees, less a $200 scratch fee will be sent via USPS within 30 days after the completion of the show. CHANGE OF HORSE OR PONY: In order to change the horse or pony being ridden in an Equitation class only, the CHSA Finals Secretary must be notified in person at least two (2) hours before the start of the class. pg. 3 CHSA Finals Prize List 2017

NON-NEGOTIABLE CHECKS: Checks returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a penalty of $200. Upon notification of a NSF (non-sufficient funds) check, accounts will be given 7 days to make full payment including penalty, which must be paid in certified funds, cashier's check or money order. An account not brought current within seven days will have the entrant's CHSA Membership put on hold, withdrawn from entry to the CHSA Finals and no points will accumulate until the account is paid. BAD CREDIT CARDS: Credit Cards returned by the bank for any reason will be assessed a penalty of $200. Upon notification of a credit card problem, accounts will be given 7 days to make full payment including penalty, which must be paid in certified funds, cashier's check or money order. An account not brought current within seven days will have the entrant's CHSA Membership put on hold, withdrawn from entry to the CHSA Finals and no points will accumulate until the account is paid. DISQUALIFICATION: Any rider/horse going into a class for which they have not qualified, or officially entered, will be fined $200 and disqualified from any further participation in the CHSA Finals. All entry fees will be forfeited in the case of disqualification. DISCOURTEOUS BEHAVIOR Unsportsmanlike conduct or discourteous behavior by anyone on the show grounds will result in eviction or disqualification from the CHSA Finals. All entry fees and other fees will be forfeited in the case of disqualification. CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION: The CHSA Finals Committee reserves the right to itself to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of, or incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in these Rules and Regulations shall be decided by the CHSA Finals Committee, its decision to be final. The CHSA Finals Committee reserves to itself the right to limit or change the number of accepted entries in any class, to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders, horses or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries without any claim for damages; to change any course, to add a dotted line, to cancel any unfilled classes, or to reschedule classes, after due notice to exhibitors; to change rings or judges as the competition warrants. SAFETY: Protective Headgear is compulsory for all riders or anyone mounted when riding anywhere on the competition grounds. Adults and Juniors must wear properly fastened protective headgear that meets or exceeds ASTM/SEI standards for equestrian use and carries the SEI tag. It must be properly fitted with harness secured. It is the responsibility of the rider, trainer, or parent or guardian of the junior exhibitor, to see to it that the headgear worn complies with appropriate safety standards and is properly fitted and in good condition. Any rider violating this rule at any time must immediately be prohibited from further riding until such headgear is properly in place. Motorized Vehicles and Golf Carts: Minors who do not have a valid driver s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the CHSA Finals competition grounds. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver s license. Violations of this rule will be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule. CHSA will impose a fine of $250 to any exhibitor found in violation of the above. In addition, reckless driving of any motorized vehicle by anyone on the show grounds will be subject to a fine of $250 and expulsion from the show grounds and forfeiture of any prizes won. Motorcycles are not allowed on the show grounds. pg. 4 CHSA Finals Prize List 2017

STALLS If you require stalls for the CHSA Finals you can find a stall payment form on the CHSA Finals web site and in your invitation package. Payment is due with the Stall form by check or online via Credit Card. Stalls are $195 each. Stall fees are not refundable unless CHSA cancels a class due to fewer then 5 entries. There are a limited number of stalls and stalls will be assigned as payment is received. Once the stalls are sold out, Exhibitors will have to make alternative arrangements. The closing date to reserve stalls is August 12th, 2017. Please complete one form per barn or trainer. NIGHTWATCH Night watch is required for each horse for a fee of $15 and is included on the stall payment form. See above. HAY AND BEDDING Can be ordered in advance on the Stall Payment form or ordered at the show. See the Show Secretary to place your order and payment is required at time of order. DOGS: All dogs must be leashed only and under control. Dogs are not allowed in cages, pens or other holding containers. No other animals are allowed on the show grounds. Dogs or other pets are not allowed in the CHSA tent whether leashed or not. TENTS: No portable tents, popup tents, umbrellas or any portable structures are allowed within 300 Feet of the show and schooling rings. NO ALCOHOL, DRUGS OR FIREARMS ARE ALLOWED ANYWHERE ON THE SHOW GROUNDS. ACTS OF GOD CLAUSE: CHSA is not responsible for weather or road conditions (including traffic), power outages, acts of God, criminal activities, economic downturns, political changes, or any other activity, event or condition beyond its control. There will be no refunds in the event of cancellation of classes due to severe weather or other emergencies or acts of God. pg. 5 CHSA Finals Prize List 2017

CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION Every Class offered herein which is covered by the rules and specifications of the current CHSA or USEF Rule Book will be conducted and judged in accordance therewith. CHSA ENTRY AGREEMENT By entering and signing this entry blank as the Owner, Lessee, Trainer, Manager, Agent, Coach, Rider, or Handler, and on behalf of myself and my principals, representatives, employees and agents, I agree that I am subject to the By-laws and Rules of CHSA. I agree to be bound by the By-laws and Rules of CHSA. I will accept as final the decision of the CHSA Finals Committee on any question arising under the Rules, and agree to release and hold harmless the competition, CHSA, Westbrook Hunt Club, their officials, directors and employees for any action taken under the Rules. I represent that I am eligible to enter and/or participate under the Rules, and every horse I am entering is eligible as entered. I also agree that as a condition of and in consideration of acceptance of entry, CHSA may use or assign photographs, videos, audios, cablecasts, or other likenesses of me and my horse taken during the course of the competition for the promotion, coverage or benefit of the competition, sport, or CHSA. Those likenesses shall not be used to advertise a product and they may not be used in such a way as to jeopardize Amateur status. I hereby expressly and irrevocably waive and release any rights in connection with such use, including any claim to compensation, invasion of privacy, right of publicity, or to misappropriation. The construction and application of CHSA Rules are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, and any action instituted against CHSA must be filed in Connecticut State. The CHSA Finals Committee reserves the right to itself to interpret all questions and conditions in regard to or arising out of, or incident to the show without claims for damages or recourse of any kind. All questions not covered in these Rules and Regulations shall be decided by the CHSA Finals Committee; its decision to be final. Every horse entered herein for competition will be under the control of the CHSA Finals Committee and the Horse Show Management, but the CHSA Finals Committee will in no case be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor shall hold the CHSA Finals Committee, the horse show and the officials, employees, directors, officers, sponsoring entities of the horse show and the facilities at which the horse show is held blameless for any loss or accident to his horse(s), employee(s), or equipment which may occur from sickness, fire or other cause. Should any question or dispute arise, it shall be referred to the Show Committee whose decision shall be final. Exhibitors are notified that any discourtesy or disobedience to the judges or officials on the part of an owner, rider or groom shall disqualify the horse and the owner shall forfeit his entry and other fees. pg. 6 CHSA Finals Prize List 2017

CHSA FINALS CLASS LISTING AT THE DISCRETION OF THE CHSA FINALS COMMITTEE, CLASSES WITH FEWER THAN TEN (10) ENTRIES IN THE FIRST ROUND MAY BE RUN IN ONE ROUND ONLY. The CHSA Finals is for Amateurs (in accordance with USEF Amateur Status Rules) and Juniors only, no Professionals will be allowed to enter and/or compete at the CHSA Finals. All ages as of 12/1/2016. FALL OF A HORSE/RIDER: If a horse or rider falls during the first round of a class, the horse/rider is eliminated. If the horse/rider falls during the second round of a class, they are placed last of the horses/riders competing in that round. NO MARTINGALES PERMITTED IN ANY FLAT CLASSES. All attire and tack should be conventional in accordance with CHSA/USEF rules. Exceptions are at the discretion of the judges. BRAIDING AND APPROPRIATE DRESS REQUIRED. SHADBELLIES ARE WELCOME IN ALL HUNTER CLASSES INCLUDING THE HUNTER DERBY, BUT INAPPROPRIATE IN EQUITATION AND PLEASURE CLASSES. All Classes will be judged by two licensed USEF judges. 201. UNJUDGED TICKETED WARM-UP CLASS Entry Fee: $35. There will be an unjudged warm-up starting at 1:00pm on Thursday, August 24, 2017. The class will be run at three heights 18, 2 and 2 6. This class is only open to CHSA members and their trainers competing in the 2017 CHSA Finals in O/F classes. Every qualified horse rider combination who preenters the warm-up, will be able to purchase multiple warm-up tickets as time and fairness permits. The warm-up trips may be taken by the rider and/or their trainer only. You must pre-enter for the warm-up. There will be no warm-up post entries. 110. Schooling Class Equitation- 18 Entry Fee: $50. Open only to Exhibitors in Class 10. Judged on Short Stirrup Equitation Medal class specifications. 10 Ribbons. 10. SHORT STIRRUP EQUITATION MEDAL Entry Fee: $125. Open to riders 12 years and under as of 12/1/16 who have never competed over fences exceeding 18 in a Recognized show. Course not to exceed ten non-x-rail fences, not to exceed 18, which must contain at least two tests from the current USEF Tests 1-8 including sitting trot. No combinations. To be scored under the open numerical judging system. The top 10 riders from the first round will return to jump a second round in reverse order of their scores in the first round; lowest score going first and highest score going last. Scores from the first round will be added together with the scores of the second round to determine the placings. In case of a tie for first place only, those with tied scores will jump a third round over a shortened course to break the tie. In all other ties, the riders will toss a coin for the awards. Only one rider per horse/pony. CHSA Medals: Gold, Silver, Bronze and 7 Black Prizes for more than 10 entries: Champion Prize and Trophy, Reserve Champion Prize, 3rd Place Prize. 111. 11. SHORT STIRRUP HUNTER Entry Fee: $125. Open to riders 12 years and under as of 12/1/16 who have never competed over fences exceeding 18 in a Recognized show. CHSA HUNTER DERBY CLASSES: The 2017 CHSA Finals will include a Hunter Derby to be held on Sunday, August 27, 2017. Only amateur riders and horses already entered in the 2017 CHSA Finals jumping classes (Classes 1-26 excluding 20) may enter into the 2017 CHSA Hunter Derby. The Derby will consist of 3 classes with fence heights of: 18, 2, and 2 6. Only 1 entry per horse per height will be allowed. Entry fee for each horse and rider combination will be $125 per class. Only 25 entries per class based on time receipt of entry. (ie First Come First Serve) We will keep a wait list. Braiding and formal attire required. The 10 highest-scoring horse-and-rider combinations after the first round of each class are eligible to return for the second round. Each CHSA Finals Hunter Derby class must have a minimum of 10 entries to be eligible to run at the CHSA Finals show and receive ribbons and prizes. Open to any horse and pony entered in Children s Equitation Medal, Modified Children s Hunter, Modified Adult Amateur Medal and Hunter, Children s Hunter Pony (Large), Children s Hunter Horse, Adult Amateur Hunter, CT Training Hunter 2 6, and Low Training Jumpers. Fences not to exceed 2 6. The first round will be a Classic Working Hunter Style Round and numerically Judged on quality, movement, jumping style, manners and way of going. The top 10 exhibitors from the first round will return to jump a second round in reverse order of their scores in the first round; lowest score going first and highest score going last. The second round will be a Handy Hunter Round and shall be numerically Judged on style, soundness, brilliance and handiness. May be asked for some simple handy hunter type tests. A maximum of 10 bonus points may be awarded by the Judges to each horse/rider combination for the handiness of the round & the brilliance of their pace. Scores from the first round will be added together with the scores of the second round to determine the placings.
