P A G E 9 GOLF Welcome to Kelly Greens and the 2018/19 golf season. This letter is intended to identify responsibilities as it relates to golf handicaps. Two basic principles underlie the USGA Handicap System, namely that each player will try to make the best score at every hole in every round, regardless of where the round is played, and that the player will post every acceptable round for peer review. The player and the players Handicap Committee have joint responsibility for adhering to these premises. The Handicap Committee responsibilities are to provide access to the handicap system. To communicate to members, which include owners and tenants with an active GHIN handicap, how to use the system and to monitor member activity. Your responsibility is to post all acceptable scores in a timely manner as soon as possible following your round. But no later than 48 hours after the round. You can post your scores at two different locations at Kelly Greens. One in the Pro Shop and another in the Club House. Or you can post scores from a mobile device. There may be times that you play and not post a score; for example, when playing a round by yourself or when involved in a playing lesson, etc. In these types of instances, you should inform the Pro Shop when you sign in that you will not be posting a score. The Pro Shop staff is available to address any question you may have and to assist in setting up access to GHIN on your mobile device, which will enable you to post scores from your phone. Additionally, the club has provided for peer review, this allows members to review scores for anyone with an active handicap. Kelly Greens uses a program that compares our tee sheet to handicap postings on a daily basis. The KG Handicap Committee periodically reviews the reports generated by this system to ensure compliance with USGA requirements. The first time a score is not posted you will receive a reminder letter. Subsequent infractions during our active seasons will result in a progressive series of letters. Please watch for future communications with helpful information about USGA and Kelly Greens handicap posting tips. KG Handicap Committee

P A G E 12 GOLF Men s 9 Hole AssociAtion Thursday s Sign-up in the Pro Shop Play from any Tee of your choice Prime Rib Dinner & Prizes Tuesday, February 26th 6:00 p.m. **February dinner included with dues As we welcome everyone back to Kelly Greens for another season, please be reminded there has been changes made to our Golf Handicap System. Kelly Greens is now using the GHIN System. Many of you use the same system at your summer location. If you plan to participate in any Kelly Greens Club Tournaments or Leagues (Not Men s 9 or Couples leagues), you must link your current GHIN number to KG. If you do not have a GHIN number you will need to establish one. In both instances, please contact the Golf Shop for direction. The club incurs a cost from the USGA for each active member in our system as does your summer location. If you plan to just play Fun Golf and do not require the handicap needed to play in KG Tournaments/ Leagues, please advise the Golf Shop and be added to the inactive list, incurring no annual charges. It is a win-win, you have fun and the club saves money. The Kelly Greens Handicap Committee

The 3.5 minus plays at Crown Colony on Wednesday and the Nickel team plays at home on Friday! A tentative date is set for the Ladies Mixer on Saturday January 26 th at 4 pm. I m still working out the details, but I will be holding a free clinic to new tennis players from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm. I can take up to 8 new players. Please see me for further instructions for sign up for the clinic. I will post the cost and menu once I know the details. Sometime in January, I will be conducting a pickleball exhibition. Not sure where just yet, but I ll have Ace Sports come for members to demo paddles. Stay tuned! The bootcamp is full. If you want to sign up as an alternate, you may do so on the board. We have an all-star line-up teaching. I look forward to the bootcamp on January 5 th. Ace Sports will be bringing demos during the bootcamp. Madisen s Match is returning to the FSW Arena in March. Early ticket sales are released to the clubs first. If you are interested, please let me know. It will sell out again this year! With Taylor Fritz, Sam Querrey, and the Bryan Brothers, it is an all-star line-up too! If you want to participate in the clinics, the sign up is on the large White Board by Court 1. The ladies may sign up for Monday, Wednesday, or Friday clinics. Men s Clinic is on Thursday at 10 am. Most captains will let you know which clinic will be best for you. Private lessons will be $65 per hour for members and $70 per hour for non-members. These prices reflect the same as Lee County Recreation s prices. I hope to see you out on the courts.
