Merits of This is a Medinan sūrah. The surah that declares God s love of all those believers who maintain the solid RANKS or lines of unreachable communal unity in selflessly and fearlessly defending God s cause against aggression. It takes its name from verse 4, in whicn the word ranks (ṣaff) occurs. The surah encouraging the believers to stick together in support of God s cause and criticizes those who broke their word (verse 3) and those who argued against the faith (verse 7). Moses and Jesus are cited as examples of prophets whose communities were divided: the rebellious were left to stray and the faithful granted success (verse 5 and verse 14). The rewards of those who strive in God s cause are described in some detail (verse 11). It is narrated that is a person recites this surah, as long as he remains alive, Prophet Isa (a.s.) seeks forgiveness from Allah (s.w.t.) for him and he will be from among the friends of Prophet Isa (a.s.) on the Day of Reckoning. Imam Muhammad al-baqir (a.s.) has said that the person who recites this surah will be placed in the group of angels and Prophets on the Day of Judgement. If this surah is continually recited during a dangerous journey, the reciter is protected until he reaches his destination.

ب ش م الل ي الر خ الر خ م ن م In the Name of Allāh, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful. عظیم اور دائمی رخمج ں والے خدا هام صے کے अल र ह क न भ स ज फड क ऩ र औय अत मन त दम व न ह bi-smi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīmi
و ض ر ا ل ف ا م و ات او م الش ف ا م ل ػي ل ح ب ص ١ م ن د ال ز ز ال ع Whatever there is in the heavens glorifies Allah and whatever there is in the earth, and He is the Allmighty, the All-wise. زمین و اصمان کا ہر ذرہ هللا کی ثشبیح میں ےہ مطغ ل ےہ اور دکمت صاخب اور عزت صاخب وہی अल र ह क तसफ ह क हय उस च ज न ज आक श औय धयत भ ह वह प रब त वश र, तत वदश ह sabbaḥa li-llāhi mā fī s-samāwāti wa-mā fī l-ʾarḍi wa-huwa l-ʿazīzu l-ḥakīmu
ف ع ل ن ا ل ث ٢ م و ذ ن ا ا ال ن م ك ل ا ل م ث ا ا O you who have faith! Why do you say what you do not do? ایمان بات وہ وال ا خر کی ں کہےت ہ جس پر عمو هہیں کر ثے ہ ऐ ईभ न र न व र! त भ वह फ त क म कहत ह ज कयत नह? yā-ʾayyuhā lladhīna ʾāmanū li-ma taqūlūna mā lā tafʿalūna
ػي ان ث ك ل ا م ا ل ث ف ع ل ن ٣ ه ب ر م ك ج ا ع ود الل It is greatly outrageous to Allah that you should say what you do not do. اللر کے هزدیک یہ صخت هاراضگی کا صبب ےہ کہ ثم وہ کہ جس پر عمو هہیں کر ثے ہ अल र ह क मह मह अत मन त अप रप रम फ त ह कक त भ वह फ त कह, ज कय नह kabura maqtan ʿinda llāhi ʾan taqūlū mā lā tafʿalūna
فا ص ي ل ب ص ف ن ل اث ك ن ذ ال ب د الل ػي ن إ ٤ ص ص ر م ان و ب م اه ه Indeed Allah loves those who fight in His way in ranks, as if they were a compact structure. بیطک هللا ان فص طرح اس کی راہ میں اس ج ل گ ں ک دوصت رکھجا ےہ صیشہ پالئی ہ ئی دی اریں طرح جس ثے ہیں باهدھ کر جہاد کر अल र ह त उन र ग स प र भ यखत ह ज उसक भ गग भ ऩ क क तफद ध ह कय रडत ह भ न व स स प रऩर ई ह ए द व य ह ʾinna llāha yuḥibbu lladhīna yuqātilūna fī sabīlihī ṣaffan ka-ʾannahum bunyānun marṣūṣun
ص م ن م ل لد و و ذوه ؤ ث م ل م ل ا ي م ك ل م ن ل إ الل ػي ل ص ر ه ا لال ذ إ و ع ث When Moses said to his people, O my people! Why do you torment me, when you certainly know that I am Allah s apostle to you? مجھے کی ں اذیت وال ل م صے کہا کہ ل م المےن اپوی ی علیھ الش م ص جب ک یاد کرو ولت اس اور ں ہ الم الش علیھ رص ل هللا کا طرؼ ےہ کہ میں ثمہاری معل م ث ہ ثمہیں ےہر دے औय म द कय जफ भ स न अऩन भ क र ग स कह, "ऐ भ य भ क र ग! त भ भ झ क म द ख द त ह, ह र कक त भ ज नत ह कक भ त म ह य ओय ब ज ह आ अल र ह क यस र ह?" wa-ʾidh qāla mūsā li-qawmihī yā-qawmi li-ma tuʾdhūnanī wa-qad taʿlamūna ʾannī rasūlu llāhi ʾilaykum
ا م ل ف اغ ز ا ا م ك ال ي د ل ػي الل و م ب لل ػي الل اغ ز ٥ ن ك اص ال ف So when they swerved [from the right path]allah made their hearts swerve, and Allah does not guide the transgressing lot. پھر جب وہ ل گ ٹیڑھے ہ گػےئ خدا ث یک م ل کے دل ں ک ٹیڑھا ہی کردیا کہ هللا بدکار ان هے بھی ہدایت هہیں کرثا ےہ कपय जफ उन ह न ट ढ अऩन ई त अल र ह न ब उनक ददर ट ढ कय ददए अल र ह अव क रयम क स ध भ गग नह ददख त fa-lammā zāghū ʾazāgha llāhu qulūbahum wa-llāhu lā yahdī l-qawma l-fāsiqīna
ة ا ه إ و ر ائ ص إ ب و ا م ر م اب ن ش ع لال ذ إ و ر الج ن م ي د ن ب ا م ل لا د ص م نم ل إ الل ػي ل ص ر And when Jesus son of Mary said, O Children of Israel! Indeed I am the apostle of Allah to you, to confirm what is before me of the Torah, اصرائیو بویاا اے هے کہا کہ الم الش مریم علیھ بن الم الش ی علیھ عیش جب ک یاد کرو ولت اس اور ل او ےه ہ ں اپےن پہےل کی کػجاب ث ریت کی ثصدیق کر رص ل هللا کا طرؼ میں ثمہاری औय म द कय जफकक भयमभ क फ ट ईस न कह, "ऐ इसय ईर क स त न! भ त म ह य ओय ब ज ह आ अल र ह क यस र ह भ त य त क (उस बप रवष मव ण क ) ऩ क ष ट कयत ह ज भ झस ऩहर स प रवद मभ न ह wa-ʾidh qāla ʿīsā bnu maryama yā-banī ʾisrāʾīla ʾinnī rasūlu llāhi ʾilaykum muṣaddiqan li-mā bayna yadayya mina t-tawrāti
د و م ب ط ر ا خ م ب ر ص ل ا ث م ن ب ع د ي اص م ي ا and to give the good news of an apostle who will come after me, whose name is Aḥmad. ایک کے ےئل بعد اپےن اور رص ل کی بطارت دیےن وا ل ہ ں جس کا هام اخمد ےہ औय एक यस र क श ब स चन द त ह ज भ य फ द आएग, उसक न भ अहभद ह ग " wa-mubashshiran bi-rasūlin yaʾtī min baʿdī smuhū ʾaḥmadu
ال ا ل ات و ال ب ب م ا م ل ف اء ج ٦ ن ب م ر د ص ا ػ ذ Yet when he brought them manifest proofs, they said, This is plain magic. جب لیکن پھر بھی معجزات وہ ےه ل گ ں ث ائے لے کر کہہ دیا کہ یہ ےہ جادو ھال ہ ا ک ث ककन त वह जफ उनक ऩ स स ऩट ज प रभ ण क स थ आम त उन ह न कह, "मह त ज द ह " fa-lammā jāʾahum bi-l-bayyināti qālū hādhā siḥrun mubīnun
ى ر ج اف ن م م م ظل ا ن م و ي الل ػ و م ال ص ا ل ل إ ع د و ب ذ ال ن الل ػي ل ع ن م ال الظ م ك ٧ ال ي د ل And who is a greater wrongdoer than him who fabricates falsehoods against Allah, while he is being summoned to Islam? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing lot. دی جارہی دع ت کی اصالم کہ اصے جب لگائے الزام پر جھ ٹ خدا ج ک ن ہ گا ظالم صے بڑا اس اور کی ہدایت هہیں کرثا ےہ ل م ظالم هللا کبھی اور ہ अफ उस व मक क त स फढ कय ज लरभ क न ह ग, ज अल र ह ऩय थ ऩकय झ ठ घड जफकक इस र भ (अल र ह क आग सभऩगण कयन ) क ओय फ र म ज यह ह? अल र ह ज लरभ र ग क स ध भ गग नह ददख म कयत wa-man ʾaẓlamu mimmani ftarā ʿalā llāhi l-kadhiba wa-huwa yudʿā ʾilā l-ʾislāmi wa-llāhu lā yahdī l-qawma ẓ-ẓālimīna
ػي م ػي ا ف ا م و الل ر د ون ل ط ف ئ ا ه ر الل ب ن ر ون و ل ه ر ى ال اف ٨ ج م ه ر ى They desire to put out the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah shall perfect His light though the faithless should be averse. یہ ل گ چاہےت ہیں کہ ه ر خدا ک اپےن موہ صے بجھادیں اور هللا اپےن ه ر ک مکمو کر هے وا ل ےہ چاےہ یہ بات کػفار ک کػجوی ہی هاگ ار کی ں هہ ہ व च हत ह कक अल र ह क प रक श क अऩन भ ह क प क स फ झ द, ककन त अल र ह अऩन प रक श क ऩ णग कयक ह यह ग, मद मप रऩ इनक य कयन व र क अप रप रम ह रग yurīdūna li-yuṭfiʾū nūra llāhi bi-ʾafwāhihim wa-llāhu mutimmu nūrihī wa-law kariha l-kāfirūna
ى ر ظ ل ق ال د ن د و ى د ال ب ل ي ص ر و ص ر ا ي ال ذ ن ر ه ط م ال ر ى ه ل و ي ٩ ل ه ن الد ل ع It is He who has sent His Apostle with the guidance and the religion of truth that He may make it prevail over all religions though the polytheists should be averse. رپ نایدا ثمام کے صاثھ بھیجا ےہ ثاکہ اصے خق دین اور ک ہدایت رص ل هے اپےن جس وہ ےہ خدا وہی مطرکین ک کػجوی ہی هاگ ار کی ں هہ ہ بات بوائے چاےہ یہ غالب वह ह क जसन अऩन यस र क भ गगदशगन औय सत मधभग क स थ ब ज, त कक उस ऩ य क ऩ य धभग ऩय प रब त व प रद न कय द, मद मप रऩ फह द व ददम क अप रप रम ह रग huwa lladhī ʾarsala rasūlahū bi-l-hudā wa-dīni l-ḥaqqi li-yuẓhirahū ʿalā d-dīni kullihī wa-law kariha l-mushrikūna
م ل ن د ا و ا و م ا ن ذ نم وج ث ة ار ج ث ل ع ال ا م ل ا ذ ١٠ اب ع ن م ا ا O you who have faith! Shall I show you a deal that will deliver you from a painful punishment? وال ایمان ثجارت کیا میں ثمہیں ایک ایشی طرؼ کی بچالے ج رہومائی کروں صے عذاب ثمہیں دردهاک ऐ ईभ न र न व र! क म भ त म ह एक ऐस व म ऩ य फत ऊ ज त म ह द खद म तन स फच र? yā-ʾayyuhā lladhīna ʾāmanū hal ʾadullukum ʿalā tijāratin tunjīkum min ʿadhābin ʾalīmin
ػي الل و ب ص ف ون د ا ج ث و ي ل ص ر و ػي الل ب ن و م ؤ ث م وج م م ن ش هف ا و م ه ن إ م ن ل ر خ ن ل ذ ن ال م ا ب ن م ١١ ل ث ع Have faith in Allah and His Apostle, and wage jihād in the way of Allah with your possessions and your persons. That is better for you, should you know. اللر اس اور رص ل کے صے جہاد کرو کہ یہی ثمہارے مال و جان میں اپےن خدا راس اور اؤ ےل پر ایمان جاهےن والے ہ ثم صے بہجر ےہ اگر صب میں خق त म ह ईभ न र न ह अल र ह औय उसक यस र ऩय, औय क जह द कयन ह अल र ह क भ गग भ अऩन भ र औय अऩन ज न स मह त म ह य लरए उत तभ ह, मदद त भ ज न tuʾminūna bi-llāhi wa-rasūlihī wa-tujāhidūna fī sabīli llāhi bi-ʾamwālikum wa- ʾanfusikum dhālikum khayrun lakum ʾin kuntum taʿlamūna
و ج م ن ل خ د و م ه ب ن ذ م ن ل ر ف غ ر ا ه ا ل ا ج ث د ن م ر ي ج ث ات He shall forgive you your sins and admit you into gardens with streams running in them, کے هیچے وہ ثمہارے گواہ ں ک بھی نج کرے گا داخو جوج ں میں ان ثمہیں اور دے گا بخض هہریں جاری ہ ں वह त म ह य ग न ह क भ कय द ग औय त म ह ऐस फ ग भ द खखर कय ग क जनक न च नहय फह यह ह ग yaghfir lakum dhunūbakum wa-yudkhilkum jannātin tajrī min taḥtihā l-ʾanhāru
ل ذ ن د ع ات و ج ف ة ب ط م و ن اه ش م م ظ ع ال ز ال ف ١٢ and into good dwellings in the Gardens of Eden. That is the great success. اور ت جو ہمیطہ رہےن والی اس روا میں پاکیزہ مکاهات ہ ں گے یہی بہت بڑی کامیابی ےہ औय उन अच छ घय भ ब ज सद फह य फ भ ह ग मह फड सपरत ह wa-masākina ṭayyibatan fī jannāti ʿadnin dhālika l-fawzu l-ʿaẓīmu
ى ح ج ف و الل ػي ن م ر ص ه ا ه ب د ث ١٣ ن و م ؤ ال م ب ط و ب ر ل ر ر خ ا و And other [blessings] you love: help from Allah and a victory near at hand. And give good news to the faithful. اور اور ایک چیز بھی جشے ثے ہ... اللر پشود کر ثم ےد بطارت صے طرؼ کی ئےجید اور مدد اور فجح لریبی اپ م موین ک औय द सय च ज ब ज त म ह प रप रम ह (प रद न कय ग ), "अल र ह क ओय स सह मत औय ननकट प र प त ह न व र प रवजम," ईभ नव र क श बस चन द द! wa-ʾukhrā tuḥibbūnahā naṣrun mina llāhi wa-fatḥun qarībun wa-bashshiri l- muʾminīna
لال ا م ه ػي الل ار هص ا ه ا ه ا و م ا ن ذ ال ا ا ا الل ػي ل إ ار ي هص ا ن م ن ار ل د ل م ر م اب ن ش ع O you who have faith! Be Allah s helpers, just as Jesus son of Mary said to the disciples, Who will be my helpers for Allah s sake? هے اپےن خ اریین صے کہا ثھا هللا کے مددگار وال ایمان الم الش مریم علیھ بن ی عیش طرح جس جاؤ بن کہ هللا کی راہ میں میرا مددگار ک ن ےہ ऐ ईभ न र न व र! अल र ह क सह मक फन, ज स कक भयमभ क फ ट ईस न हव रयम (स थथम ) स कह थ, "क न ह अल र ह क ओय (फ र न भ ) भ य सह मक?" yā-ʾayyuhā lladhīna ʾāmanū kūnū ʾanṣāra llāhi ka-mā qāla ʿīsā bnu maryama lil-ḥawāriyyīna man ʾanṣārī ʾilā llāhi
ة ف ائػ ن ار ال د ط ت و م ا ف ػي الل ار هص ا ن ه د ة ف ائػ ط ت ر ف هػ و و ر ائ ص إ ب و ن م ال ل The Disciples said, We will be Allah s helpers! So a group of the Children of Israel believed, and a group disbelieved ےه خ اریین ث کہا کہ ہم هللا کے لے ک گروہ ایمان ہیں لیکن پھربوی اصرائیو میں صے ای هاصر ایک گروہ کافر ہ گیا اور ایا हव रयम न कह, "हभ ह अल र ह क सह मक " कपय इसय ईर क स त न भ स एक थगय ह ईभ न र आम औय एक थगय ह न इनक य ककम qāla l-ḥawāriyyūna naḥnu ʾanṣāru llāhi fa-ʾāmanat ṭāʾifatun min banī ʾisrāʾīla wa-kafarat ṭāʾifatun
ا ه د ا ف و م ا ن ال ذ و د ع ل ع ا ن ر ا ظ د ب ص ا ف م ا ١٤ Then We strengthened the faithful against their enemies, and they became the dominant ones. ےه ہم ث ایمان کی دظمن کے مكابلہ میں صاخبان مدد کردی ث وہ غالب ےہر اکر अत हभन उन र ग क, ज ईभ न र ए थ, उनक अऩन शत र ओ क भ क फर भ शक क त प रद न क, त व छ कय यह fa-ʾayyadnā lladhīna ʾāmanū ʿalā ʿaduwwihim fa-ʾaṣbaḥū ẓāhirīna
